Had I not met Amanda, I honestly would've believed I just didn't have milk for my newborn. Right…read moreafter giving birth, my breasts became rock hard and breastfeeding felt impossible. The lactation consultants at the hospital weren't able to help, until the very last one referred me to the amazing Amanda. She came to my home, took one look at what was going on, and immediately got colostrum out of me (something I had been trying so hard to do on my own). She stayed with me, taught me what to do for the engorgement, and showed me exactly how to start pumping the right way. I went from getting just a few drops a day to now pumping up to 8 ounces every 3 hours. Because of her, I have a freezer stash, I feel confident, and I'm even starting to breastfeed (something I truly thought wouldn't be possible). I'm so incredibly thankful for her. She has been such an important part of my motherhood journey, and I don't know where I'd be without her. Loveeeee her. Here's a pic of my cutie & Amanda

She was so gentle with both myself and my son, and so helpful for us navigating pumping and keeping up my supply whilst we addressed his torticollis. She is so knowledgeable and gave me information that no one else seemed to have. I felt so seen and cared for by her. I recommend her to all of my pregnant and postpartum friends. 10/10 would recommend!

From the very first message, Lisa was incredibly responsive and when I spontaneously asked if my neighbor could join, she made it happen super easily. Lisa came to our home to do the course, which made the whole experience feel personal and relaxed. The course itself was hands-on, thorough, and genuinely confidence-building. I walked away feeling truly prepared, not just for starting solids with my baby, but for handling emergencies calmly if they ever arise. You can tell Lisa doesn't just teach this material, she really cares about it and she cares about the people she works with. This was actually my second time working with Lisa. I first met her as a lactation consultant and both experiences have been equally wonderful. She brings the same warmth, expertise, and dedication every time. Thank you, Lisa!

After a particularly rough night of breastfeeding with my son, I contacted Lisa at South Bay Baby…read moreCare after finding her glowing reviews here on Yelp. I emailed Lisa regarding her availability and pre-checked with The Lactation Network, the company she contracts with, to make sure everything was good to go with my insurance. I heard back within 24 hours from both TLN and Lisa; we were able to set up a home visit appointment within the week. Lisa was extremely friendly and professional during our sessions. She helped measure me for new pump flanges, made suggestions for positioning comfort, and observed my son feeding to make a diagnosis regarding potential latch issues. She offered a number of oral exercises to help my son's latch and provided an EXTREMELY THOROUGH folder with pictures and descriptions of the exercises so I was not relying solely on memory. The folder also had a ton of other useful info from breastfeeding tips and tricks to local professionals, including pediatric dentists and OTs. Lisa also provided a comprehensive write up for my son's pediatrician with her observations and recommendations. Like the folder she provided, it was extremely thorough and detailed. Her professionalism and attention to detail is next level and she is incredibly nice and easy to talk to. I never felt judged or unheard. We scheduled a follow-up in-home appointment which was just as helpful as the first session. A few weeks later Lisa, followed up by email to check-in to make sure my son and I were doing well. She cares about her patients and I know that I can reach out if we run into any other issues. If you are struggling with breastfeeding or latch trouble contact Lisa! She's wonderful!

Alicia visited our family after three weeks of our baby being born. With our little boy being a…read moremonth premature, our doctor recommended formula until we had weight gain. Although I was not feeding him, my milk came in after three days of pumping. After the 2 week appointment, the doctor said he was growing well and that I could start solely breastfeeding. Although I tried over and over, I kept having my baby fall asleep mid-feed. He would wake up again within an hour because he was hungry. Additionally, I started feeling a pinching pain on the side of my body as I fed him. Trying to address the abnormal situation, we found the Lactation Consultant contact information in our Hospital packet and called the nearest one to us. Alicia responded right away and was very helpful from the beginning. On her first visit, Alicia quickly showed her expertise and professionalism - and we were happy that she adhered to strict COVID-19 protocols while in our home. She also stressed the importance of getting my husband involved to support me and the baby through the process. She helped us understand whether our baby was eating or not, and also gave us some techniques to get the baby to get a full feed (lots of skin to skin contact). Additionally, she did identify both a tongue and lip tie on our boy, and sent us to a wonderful pediatric dentist in the South Bay. A day after leaving, she continued to follow up and stayed invested in making sure that we made progress. The next day, although it was rough, she and I were texting as I tried to feed the baby - and eventually ended up Facetiming so that we could get direct support. Although I was stressed, her availability and willingness to continue helping was so reassuring! A week later, after addressing the tongue tie, we scheduled a follow-up appointment with her so that she could assess the baby's feeding now that he had a "new" tongue. And this appointment was even more helpful! Honestly, Alicia helped turn my breastfeeding journey around and I am so grateful that we were able to work with her. It has now been 3 months since she helped us, and I am currently solely breastfeeding. I love every second of it and I don't take it for granted when I look at my little babies face each feed.
