I've been going to Kim for over 15 years and I can't recommend her enough. Before I found her, I used to feel nervous every time I got my hair colored--especially going blonde. With Kim, that worry is gone. She's incredibly consistent, always gets my color just right, and keeps my hair healthy. After all these years, I still leave her chair happy every time. I'm very disappointed with their customer service. I booked an appointment with a popular hair stylist. I arrive 10 minutes early and was told she'll need an extra 20 minutes. The appointment was for my 3 year old and I'm due to give birth with my 2nd in less than a week but I say no problem. The receptionist says great we'll see you in half an hour. I then come back in half an hour and I ask if the hair stylist is ready. The receptionist says no that she needs 5 more minutes but I can leave if I don't want to wait. This was pretty frustrating and I asked why they wouldn't just call me if she's running that behind and ask me to come later? The receptionist only mentioned that the stylist is just that busy. I wait another couple of minutes and ask again if the stylist is ready. At this point im tired of waiting and ask to get an actual estimated time she will be ready. I see the receptionist go up to the stylist and I see that the stylist is annoyed with the questions. I feel that when you have such a "popular" stylist that people should be better at scheduling their appointments for them. A phone call to say she's running an hour behind would have been great to receive, and the stylist could have taken 2 minutes to check in with me and see what can be done to accommodate me since I wasn't late. The stylist ran behind and should have tried to remedy the problem. At the end I left, it was obvious they didn't care for my business since the stylist is that popular. I'm so sad to be writing this review. I have been coming for years now but my most recent experience ensures I won't be back . I had a color correction with James and was promised a buttery blonde with confidence and left with black ends, red roots, yellow splotches, orange splotches and grey all in my hair. It was an absolute disaster. I absolutely understand mistakes happen so contacted him saying just that. After contacting James about how disappointed I was, I was surprised in the responses I had received. I wasn't given any sort of refund after walking out having spent $600. I had already put a darker color over my hair because I had to work the next day but wouldn't have been comfortable coming back so he can "fix" it. I contacted the owner and have not heard back since and James has now been ignoring my messages. I'm unbelievably disappointed with not only the outcome of my hair and the amount spent but also how this situation was handled. read more

I showed her a picture of a waterfall braid and though she couldn't do the style, she was promptly able to improvise and do something similar. She was very pleasant to speak with and I got lots of compliments on my hair. This salon does not take credit cards, only cash or checks. The salon was very clean and there were a lot of customers. minus a short hiatus i have been seeing Jessie for over 20 years ! She is equally skilled as a stylist and colorer . I'm not sure i'm using the proper lingo ... but you will NOT be disappointed in her cuts or color. She is amazing. I received the worse color and service I have ever received in my life. I had receive a color job from Sally about a year ago and it started to fade out, so I decided to update it. I recently attended a wedding where we were encouraged to attend styled in the manner of 1940s glam. Since I'm all about 1940s glam, I was all for it, however I just knew that unless I purchased a wig, I'd never get my hair right. I know this because I recently attempted finger waves with disastrous results (when they go wrong, you'll look like you had a mishap with a crimping iron, circa 1994). I asked my girl, Micol H, expert on all things retro and all things Long Island, if she had a recommendation for a hair stylist. "Who does your hair" she replied (actually, she said it in the appropriate Long Island accent too. How can you resist?) Sally had done her hair for her wedding and made it all retro and perfect-like. I was immediately sold and was able to get a Friday appointment when I called on a Monday. Nice! I should also add that the ladies at reception are really great, as they called me back to suggest an earlier appointment so that she had enough time to get the style right. They also had specific instructions for washing/styling hair beforehand. Sally worked on (really, crafted) my hair for about an hour and let me tell you it was PERFECT. I'd put a photo up on the biz page, but I feel weird about that, so check out my profile pics. I had compliments on my hair all night. I truly felt like I had transformed into something... Rita Hayworth (actually, more of a brunette Jean Harlow, but that's a slightly earlier era. My hair is not of great length!) The best part is when I took out the pins and had amazing-looking hair all weekend long! This woman does magic, y'all. Considered an updo, it sets you back the typical 75 dollars plus tip. I will be honest and say that the cash or check only thing is for the birds. They did tell me when I booked my appointment but of course I totally forgot because in all my years of getting salon services done, I've yet to go to a place that had this policy in place. I can forgive that because the reception ladies are super nice about it and weren't bitchy about me having to call my mom to bring my check book. So now I kind of want to go back just to get regular cuts and color... but I live a thousand miles away! read more

Bianca!! AMAZING! I went in on Valentine's Day to get a simple blow out because I had torn my shoulder and was in a sling. The woman who washed my hair.. I wish I got her name.... was so kind... Bianca asked me how I wanted my hair done and I basically said it's your call! She spent the whole time doing my hair while making sure I was comfortable with what she was doing, we chit chatted the whole time. Instead of just silently doing my hair, she was giving me tips on how to do what she was doing because I loved the style. Where do I start? Jasmine Fine is, hands down, the most talented and wonderful person I think I've ever met. She did my hair for my wedding back in October. I live in Texas but got married in NY and she was so accommodating and easy to work with even from far away. She made the whole process so enjoyable and fun. She really listened to my opinions and vision but was also able to give her own opinion and expert advice while still making me feel completely respected. Everyone in her salon was so sweet, they even brought me a salad when they knew I was starving during my hair trial after flying in from Texas that day! Little touches like that made all the difference. I haven't gotten my hair done by anyone else in her salon yet but from what I saw, they are all super talented, great to work with and have a really awesome and friendly vibe. Day of the wedding Jasmine was calm, helpful and focused even though my wedding was at risk of being cancelled because of weather. She was so meticulous and I could tell cared as much as I did, if not more, about every little detail. I did a low up-do. I wanted a very ethereal and romantic feel... and Jasmine absolutely nailed it. It was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. And it held perfectly the entire night. I've been going to this place for the last 20 years. It has gone through some staff change in the last 20 years but the owner is great. I get my haircut styles and everyone's a month ago in there for a blowout which will last me a good 3 to 4 days. Jessie! She does my hair! Jessie has been cutting my friend Janet's hair for over a decade. And when I was ready for a new "do" she recommended I go to her at Who Does Your Hair. This salon is quite different from the place that I have been going to for the past 15 years. It's located on the corner of Bellmore Road and Merrick Road. Parking is awful. However, there is valet parking on the week-ends. That alone should tell you that it is an upscale salon but I found it to be friendly and laid back. My haircut is unlike any I have ever had before. I spent all that money on full head highlights a cut and a blowout and my hair looked pretty much the same as when I sat in the chair. (I have black hair and wanted blonde highlights) The highlights ended up looking brown and barely noticeable. My mom regularly gets her hair done by Jasmine and recommended this place highly for when I wanted to get a haircut and color touch-up for a wedding. Jasmine was not available, so my hair was cut and styled by Rose, and my color done by Michelle. I was quite impressed with all the services. What was especially wonderful was that the entire process was not long and drawn out, like it usually is in other salons. Even with a color application, my entire stay was under an hour and a half. Rose was especially attentive to my particular hair needs. She spent some time studying how my hair fell naturally and recommended that I part my hair differently than I had been accustomed to for pretty much my entire life. She also detailed how my hair type would work with different types of cuts and after all of her careful observations, I trusted her to give me a cut that would not just look good, but work well as it grew out. The final product was a haircut that I was beyond impressed with, and now - two months later - I can safely say that she stayed true to her word and my hair has grown out really well, better than any other cut I've had in years. Reasons why this place is amazing:( My stylist is Kristy and she's the best!) Not in any specific order 1) My opinion is the priority. At other salons the stylist would say "No you should do this" or " This would look best," I dont know about other people but I know what I want and since I'm the one paying my opinion should be the one that matters even if I come in saying I want rainbow hair. 2) Gentleness. I detest, I loath when other stylest would yank yank yank my hair. I'm not a mannequin, I am made of flesh so I feel pain. My hairs never been yanked at WDYH. It's always treated gently. 3) Friendlyness. I won't go back to a place, restuarant, salon or anywhere else if the people are nasty and look like they have a pain doing their job. ( I get everyone hates to work but customers don't like seeing that, I don't make faces at customers where I work even if I'm havng a bad day thats just curtesy) WYDH staff is always friendly, welcoming and charming 4) Time taken for Perfection. I hate being rushed. Anywhere. That goes especially for salons. Kristy takes her time with coloring, cutting and styling. She is slow but in a good way because it ensures that I get the best possible result when it comes to how short I want my hair and the correct matching color I envisioned. Other perks: Cute environment, fun music, great products available for sale, coffee and tea available plus there's a great boutique next door (WDYH and the boutique are connected through a door so you don't have to go outside) that you get to look around while your hair is in tin foil. Yes the lack of parking sucks, it is pricey and I would hope one day they accept credit cars (just cash or checks) but that does not mean this place deserves anything less than a top 5. I've been going to this salon for about 6 years to get my color done. Overall, the staff is very friendly, talented and accommodating. However, one of the receptionists is extremely rude. She's an older brunette with curly hair. I walked up to the counter to pay and she kept jotting things down, shuffling things around and staring at the computer screen AS IF she didn't see me--couldn't take 2 seconds to acknowledge my presence or say "I'll be with you in a minute " as is customary. After a few minutes I told her I needed to pay and she looked up and glared at me (if looks could kill!) and she said she had to "finish booking an appointment in the system." It was clear she didn't know what she was doing. A few more minutes go by and suddenly another customer was standing next to me waiting to pay as well and commented as to why we were both standing there waiting on the brunette. When she finally deemed herself ready to accept my cash, she didn't say thank you or wish me a nice evening or anything. Never mind the fact I had just spent several hundred dollars there. I chose to write this review because it's not the first time that receptionist has been rude to me. I really like this salon and I don't think it's fair that she spoil it for other staff by putting off customers with her sour grapes attitude. Yesterday was my first visit and let me tell you, I was blown away by a number of factors. The shop itself is beautifully done, a rustic facade that was warm and inviting. I was offered beverages while I waited and while I was getting my hair done. My stylist was Sally, who I had my sister highly recommend for color. Let me tell you, she did a fabulous job with the color and I immediately got compliments on it. Lauren was incredibly sweet and very fun to talk to and Bianca was kind as well.
