Took Dad out for breakfast today. Chose Whitey's Diner in Fremont. We went late in the morning (10:30 - 11), hoping it would be empty. Wrong! We got one of the few tables in the diner. Whitey's is not much to look at, but the food is amazing, portion size is quite generous, and the prices are very fair for the price paid. If you leave this establishment and you are still hungry, there's something wrong in your equation. Very friendly staff. We were warmly greeted when we walked in, and we were thanked on our way out. Small-town hospitality at it's finest! I highly recommended Whitey's if you are looking for a classic diner serving great food read more

Good lord. My god. I wasn't a religious person until I ate here. I ordered the home fries, (extra egg), with sausage, and as a result, I believe in God again. There's no way food is this good and there isn't a higher power overseeing our day to day lives. Now don't get me wrong, I smelled like this place for the rest of the day, but it was worth it, cause that meant I smelled like the eight wonder of the world. read more

Great Diner. Great Staff. Great food. Visited Whitey's for the first time. I was looking for a hometown feel place for breakfast. I walked in and immediately knew I made the right choice. Greeted by friendly smilingly faces. Portions were huge. The place impressed me so much, I took my clients there after their meeting. Next time I'm in Fremont, I will be back. read more

No better breakfast. Good fast service. Big portions. Typical dinner. Been a mainstay for as long as I can remember.

Absolutely disgusting. As I'm eating I watch the cook grab raw bacon with his bare hands, then grab a to go container, then cheese, then his phone and talk on the phone, and then back to grabbing raw bacon. Never once washing or sanitizing his hands. I wonder how many people are getting sick. The cook either lacks basic food handling knowledge or just doesn't care. read more

Any place with orange Formica tables is THE place for breakfast! Get coffee. They grind their own beans so it tastes really fresh. We both got 2 eggs with wheat toast and bacon, pretty standard breakfast fare. But don't plan on 2 little pieces of bacon with your over easies. We got like six slices each. Also DO NOT skip the home fries! Perfectly sliced, browned and one order is enough for 4 people. Service was great. We got there Saturday morning at 10 & got the last open seats. After that there was a continuous line. If you have any reason on earth to be in Fremont OH, have breakfast at Whitey's! read more

Pretty bad. Anytime a restaurant boasts about "not doing it your way" you know the experience is going to be pretty poor. Fair prices and good coffee...everything else is bad. Home fries and bacon were extremely undercooked. Even the eggs were so so and its really hard to mess up scrambled eggs. In addition to the food, this was the loudest restaurant I've ever been in. You couldn't even have a conversation at the table because the other patrons were so loud. Easily one of the worst dining experiences I've had. read more

Well worth the detour off of I-80. Stopped here on a cross-country road trip and would definitely make a point to return in the future. One of those treasured local diners where the food, people, and atmosphere have that undeniable personality that comes with history. I sat at the counter shoulder to shoulder with devoted loyal customers and ate something called the Trash Potatoes, which was incredible. Get the Trash Potatoes. Do not eat at some service plaza fast food chain. Go to Whitey's. read more

Food was ok, but will not go back because we felt out of place and stared at the whole time like we had no business eating there.

Great food, great service. What an American diner experience should be. Pancakes are exceptional. The Bubba omelette is enough to feed a family of 4. read more

Awesome Diner! Great Service!! Wonderful People!!! I was traveling through Ohio and went 10 minutes off my route to get to this absolute gem . Greeted and given coffee immediately I sat at the breakfast bar and watched a 39 year veteran chef work the flattop griddle. If it had been a piano, he would be Mozart. Smiling while masterfully managing every single food item as it sizzled on the seasoned steel. Deftly shuffling tender potatoes. Gently placing freshly soaked French toast. Flipping bacon and pressing sausage for maximum browning. A wonder to see and all while friendly chatting with all in company. My eggs were perfect. The portions were huge, the price was not. Absolutely charmed and will make it a mandatory stop when traveling through The Buckeye State! read more

This meal was AWFUL I order pancakes and Sausage and they both were not cooked and raw. My friend ordered the biscuits and gravy and it was very bad and tasted like a wet sock I will never come back. read more

There's nothing like breakfast at a local diner, and Whitey's did not disappoint. Be ready for ample portions, but be aware that potatoes are not part of the deal -- they're extra. I shared the veggie omelette and it was more than enough. No sourdough toast but the wheat was amply buttered which is always a plus. Mom had pancakes which were nothing exceptional but more than acceptable for a pancake lover. We had a bit of a wait because there's only one chef and one small grill and the place was packed, which tells you something. But if you're not in a hurry, it's a fun place to sit and spend some time chatting. Plus he actually apologized for the wait as we left. Best of all -- the price. read more

The BF brought me here few months ago for a breakfast before a long day out the road. The food is much more than you paid for. The lady who served us was so sweet and very attentive, yet not an overbearing kind. Don't come here if you're on a diet and scared of little grease. Grease means good most of the time and at this place it means awesomeness. I'll eat here again if we happen to pass this way sometime. read more

Their sausage has NO flavor! None. No spice, salt, pepper or sage. Tastes terrible! All their food isn't really all that good. Bland or soggy and greasy. Will not ever go back! Find someplace else to go eat. The place down the called " Billy's" which is related to this place is just as bad. read more

This place is awesome. It is a tiny diner with amazing food. The portions are HUGE! We went and didn't know that they only take cash. Our waitress was super friendly and said we could go to the ATM to get cash if needed after we ate. The service was fast and the staff was incredibly friendly. First time we tried we will definitely go back! Try the sausage or the burgers. You won't believe the size you get for the money. read more

French toast was raw inside, pancakes looked like they were cooked on a griddle with burnt food. Toast was black. Home fries and coffee both good , service fast. Worst part was watching our waitress go in and clean toilet, not wash her hands and then went and served our food (and made the toast). Totally gross. Won't be back. I should have left after the toilet was cleaned. read more

Whitey's has a great set of breakfast options - go for "The Bubba" if you really want a variety of tastes. Their home fries are excellent and the servers do a great job making you feel at home. Say hi to Mark - tell him one of "Mindy's brothers" sent you! :-) Carol is a friendly waitress, even scared me up a copy of The Blade! The coffee cup will never be empty unless you want it to be! This place had good reviews so we got off the Turnpike when traveling through to have breakfast. It was the worst breakfast ever! The omlettes were way over cooked- dark brown to black. It didn't even look like an omlette. The sausage in the omlette was burnt. The side of bacon tasted like old burnt grease. It was disgusting! #worstbreakfastever read more

Great place to eat! Food is excellent. Classic diner with a menu to match. This is cash only!!!

Place was fire. ENORMOUS portions, salty, definitely unhealthy, but very tasty and cheap. Definitely go to if you're in the area!

Come for the nostalgia but don't come hungry, this is authentic truck stop dining circa 1937. It's greasy, salty, huge portions of unappealing food, in the end it's regretful. However, it is fairly cheap. read more

If you're in Freemont you have to stop here! One of the better Dinners I've been to, and you better bring an appetite. The burger may have been a half cow, and was a great dinner burger and the fries were as good. Nothing beats Mark the Cheff/Owner, he was awesome as were Every One that came in and he heeled out their names. You must sit at the bar where Mark is cooking up the tons of food as this place is nonstop busy. You walk in with a tie and you're asking for it. Great food but the people are even better. read more

Found this local diner on Yelp on our trip from Boston to Cedar Point to Indianapolis. If you are looking for local food with an amazing friendly staff this is the spot. Everyone seemed to know everyone and when they found out we were from out of town everyone got in on the action on asking where we were from and what we were doing out here. Mark, seemed to be the owner, introduced himself to both myself and my fiancée and made sure we signed their guest book. It is a small but welcoming atmosphere with your standard breakfast food choices. If you're a fan of omelettes you will not be disappointed. read more
