I don't come here often, but when i do, i always have a great time and great food. I suggested coming over there to a co worker while we are waiting on a train to take back to Columbus. The restaurant wasn't busy, as we hit after the lunch crowd, but found the waitress/hostess cleaning up and told us to "sit wherever and i will find you." Love this!! Most of the issues I've noticed with Denny's is its understaffed. Sometimes, I can overlook that. Tonight, I could not, and I was sorely disappointed. She also couldn't bring all the food at once. It felt like they cooked my kids' food and then waited to start cooking everyone else's food. Then, when left a tip, waitresses DO NOT need to say, "Umm, it's customary to leave a 20% tip." After the experience we had, she's lucky she got a tip at all! Very rude waitress, the food wasn't the greatest and we noticed a lot of people leaving and they were upset. Got here at 6 am. I was the only one here. I ordered the bold coffee and it was made fresh. I tried the slam that has jalapeño honey bacon and it was good. For me the over medium eggs were slightly over cooked but still edible. Food came out fresh and hot. I was checked on frequently to see if I needed anything. Over all a good Dennys experience. I was going to dennys with my family for fathers day we were a party of five, we got there put our name on the list people proceeded to come in after us and got seated before us. Over a hour later we ask how long they said a table was about to get up now and then they tried seating a party at the table we were supposed to go to that got there a hour after us but the waitress stopped them from seating them and they finally after a hour and a half sat us down and then proceeded to tell us that itd be another hour before we got food so we got up and left. I understand its fathers day but the service was absolutely horrible. We ate at Denny's Sunday night. This was the first time we had ate in the evening at this location. The breakfast was always great and waitress prompt and nice. However that is not the case for the evening. It was not busy but took us forever to get our food. I was facing the kitchen some of the nasty things I noted: 1. I observed the cook picking food off a plate and ate it while he was cooking. He was also drinking while cooking. 2. He did not wear a hair net so his hair was not covered , and had a very scruffy beard. 3. He was making rude comments about how hot it was back in the kitchen and making rude comments to the waitresses. 4. The food had no taste.5. Asked to take my cup with me they never brought me a cup. Worst experience ever. Go there all the time get the same thing and the waitress continued to mess up me and my friends orders. After mine took 25 minutes to get out after my friends did who got the same exact thing. I have to say I was impressed by our short wait time despite the restaurant being full, and how quickly we were greeted by our server. The food was good and prices were decent. What I wasn't impressed with was how service declined once our order had been taken. First, our drinks sat empty for a while before we were asked if we wanted refills. (If I haven't even received my food yet, don't you think I would like a refill on my ice water? Why even ask?) She did check back to see how our food was, but that was where the service ended. The server dropped the check before we were finished eating and never asked whether anyone wanted dessert, a box, a to-go order, anything else. And that was it-- she never came back. Maybe the servers at Denny's are trained to do this, but I was a server for years and the service shouldn't end like that. Don't you want to sell desserts? If people are still eating, shouldn't you refill their drinks? This is where the tip can take a huge dive, regardless of how the rest of the meal went. We tried to get her attention and she passed our table several more times (refilling drinks, taking orders, even cleaning another table) before she stopped back again, and even then she was a little short with us.
