Fortunately, I decided to venture down a search into the more local small businesses and came upon this cool old school & quirky shop. I think the gentleman's name was Jim. Older dude that could pass as your nerdy techy friend who's probably collected every tech gadget since the original Tron came out. Told him what I was looking for but I gradually got discouraged as all he was showing me were the bigger style bigger sound units that are common for home systems. But, alas! With a little patience we revealed a new treasure: smaller desk top speakers! Minor speaker mesh stains on the front but super decent with a little TLC. He was super friendly and chill, even making an effort to find parts that could potentially be missing from this set (like compatible power cord). It also came with an amp box that I've got sitting below my desk table, which was a nice surprise (I keep it plugged in for the deeper sounds or just unplugged for more "regular(?)" crispy audio). All that for a really awesome deal; I think it was something like $15-30 or something crazy like that. Good shit, dude! Thank you. If you're looking for small speakers, I probably snagged the last set but I definitely recommend this place for any help with acheiving 2 things at once: reusing/upcycling any sort of old working electronics and supporting a damn good local friendly small business.

Was making the…read moredecision to retire or repair a very old gaming laptop (MSI 2 PC Apache, ~2015) with a cracked screen after its getting knocked over. Was afraid for its age and brand, that no one in town would even be willing to take a look. Simeon offered a great initial price (I'm forgetting the first quote. $40? $60?) to look at repairing the screen, and soldering the hinge back into its socket. He noticed some motherboard damage (water spots, etc) while working, which was not unexpected for its age and wear. While in the shop, he also installed a keyboard I brought in, that I had bought myself but failed to DIY install. Ultimately, even after investing the labor in repairing the laptop, the internal damage was severe enough that it could not be made to boot. Simeon gave me the option to pay the original low cost quote for the substantial repair work, which allowed me to now extract the RAM from my damaged machine (prev impossible w broken hinge), or that for an out-the-door cost of $200, he could upgrade my system by moving my data over to an similar year, upgraded-SPEC ASUS gaming laptop. The laptop is indeed a quality upgrade in game performance for the price I paid. What's more, Simeon's coming up with the refurbishment solution for the cost spared me having to shop for a modern rig at modern prices ($1000+) for a while longer. My SSD was not an exact fit to it so I am still transitioning some of my documents etc data over -- they had trouble finding a usb to make it possible to do this in the shop. This is a small hassle, but doable. The laptop came home ready to plug and play, but the guys warned me that it badly needed a new battery and couldn't hold a charge (shutting down when disconnected from power). Simeon offered to help source one for me, but that they could be expensive and that he would call back with a price and wouldn't pull the trigger to order until he spoke with me again. Had a minor miscommunication w other guy at front desk, where I thought the battery had been ordered before speaking to Simeon again, which surprised me, but didn't think much of. Turns out Simeon was waiting for my go-ahead, though, so I accidentally waited a little over a week with my bum battery without having to. The guys are very nice, so I would say to learn from my experience and not be afraid to follow up more readily than I did if you're curious for an update. When I took it in for the battery pick-up, everything went very smoothly. Remember to use debit and not credit, expensive $2 surcharge for my not paying attention and putting it on the wrong card. Very pleased w the work here, and found pricing very affordable, would absolutely return.

She was a very immature young woman that was insecure about everything including going throughout the back yard and around the house very awkward the whole 5 minutes she was here. Before engaging me in any conversation didn't ring my door bell or knock just text me and in fact was 1 hour late to our appointment. Then after 5 minutes of conversation I decided to end our meeting as she wanted to get a friend to comeback with her. Not sure why. I later called management about how unprofessional the experience was and that if the simple task of greeting some and being discreet about passcodes was to much for their sales staff maybe their service would be just as tacky and from the look at the reviews with overpriced trashy product and service walking away looks to have been a good choice for me. It turned out to be too small for my needs and I am stuck with the drive and still not fully backed up. We had worked together smoothly, I paid my bill within minutes, and when I emailed him to let him know that the problem was not resolved I was polite. He didn't answer the email or a follow up email, exactly the same as the last time we had problems. I mailed him a letter asking him to please let me know whether he was interested in working with me. No response whatsoever. I truly don't understand what this is all about, and I'm disappointed to lose his expertise. I'm done and will,have to start looking for someone else. What a shame.
