Well, what a ride it has been. After my last post, Brant worked with me on some backup issues and recommended a hard drive. It turned out to be too small for my needs and I am stuck with the drive and still not fully backed up. We had worked together smoothly, I paid my bill within minutes, and when I emailed him to let him know that the problem was not resolved I was polite. He didn't answer the email or a follow up email, exactly the same as the last time we had problems. I mailed him a letter asking him to please let me know whether he was interested in working with me. No response whatsoever. I truly don't understand what this is all about, and I'm disappointed to lose his expertise. I'm done and will,have to start looking for someone else. What a shame. read more

An update on Brant, owner and chief brainiac at The Mac Guy in Salem. I came to Oregon from NYC and LA, two giant markets where Mac repair is competitive, but the truly talented Mac Doctors are few and far between. I've tried over a dozen of these services coast to coast and The Salem Mac Guy wins coast to coast. I'm writing an update because there was a miscommunication with one of his employees, and the details don't matter, what was impressive was that the owner stepped in to remedy the situation, showing real " pride of ownership." Integrity like this is harder and harder to find, so my loyalty to this IT pro is solid. I'd be lost without my computers functioning, and I have to thank The Mac Guy for keeping all four of my machines humming. I always learn something valuable about the care of my electronics from the Mac Guy. He's always gives undivided attention to the customer he's with, always prompt and organized and never had him try to upsell me. If anything, he does the opposite.
