Its a zen hike for me because of the babbling brook that follows beside you. Also, the dirt/rocky trail is a single-person width trail, so it prevented me from babbling with friends and to concentrate on my footing. The ocean of sage brush we walk through was serene. I loved how every so often there was an enclave to pause at the brook and walking bridge boards. Loved the ice formations this Dec '18. It hikes through a subdivision and connects to the other trail. Lots of parking. Playground. Large open field. Drones were a flyin this afternoon.

WHITES CREEK PARK & TRAIL 2525 Killington Dr., Reno /Playground & hike all in one location! big and little kid playgrounds with swings! ‍ hiking trail is several miles long! Don't expect to do the entire thing with littles a few picnic tables and benches available portable restroom available near the field large grassy field that is mostly fenced Little shade cover over the playground and parts of the trail Follows the stream - perfect for play! parking lot available Be mindful that this park is in a residential area Only complaint: the playground itself has seen better days, but it's still fully functional and the kids don't mind it! It's just getting a bit old. Follow us for more family-friendly activities on Instagram: http://Instagram.com/nevada_adventure_family

Beautiful day out for a lunch picnic while my wife finished up at work…read more Park was clean and well tended. Lots of shade, lots of tables and benches to sit at. I love this park

Nice historic park in Reno. I don't think it's really a tourist spot, more like a local hangout. We…read morestopped by bc the wife wanted to picnic at a park for a Sunday lunch, and this place fit the bill. Good thing it was only a mildly warm weekend, as Idlewild is in the middle of the city, so not exactly "in the woods." However, there are lots of trees here so they provided some shade for our time here. Parking was easy, plenty of spaces along the main road of the park, and some dedicated spots in several areas too. We discovered that one of the main attractions here is a pond, so we picnicked while we sat on the side of the pond and watched ducks do their waddle thing and just like the ones at William Land Park, these ducks were also are very comfortable with humans and they came by and tried to ask for food and watched us eat. The pond is about the same size as the Land Park one, for those who know Sactown, but it's a bit bigger, I think. It's also a man-made pond, but with fish in it and wildlife around. Besides the pond, there's a rose garden just across the main road leading into the park, and a sensory garden, as well as a play structure for kids and a little train runs through the park that you can buy tickets and ride on (best for little ones). The park is pretty well-maintained and look to be in good condition overall. Landscaping is kept up with lots of trees, flora, plants, and fields throughout. All in all, a nice park in Reno, a little oasis in the middle of the biggest little city in Nevada.

There is a metal zip line attached to the playground. There is a smaller playground next to the big one. There there is a four person seesaw at this playground. It appears this path connects to the nearby neighborhoods. There is a basketball court with two hoops. There is a bathroom at this park. There is a covered eating area with some picnic tables underneath. There is a parking lot for you to park in. The one issue with this park is there is not a lot of shade. There are not a lot of mature trees at this park. I would be grateful if the city added some shade near the benches at the playground. The park was clean and the bathroom was clean. Side note: I was informed by one of the wonderful local moms that teenagers like to go to this park. Sadly those teens aren't always friendly with the little kids. Please watch out. Have fun out there. -Dadzone
