The park is beautifully maintained, D & DW (Don & Dawn) are fantastic hosts. We stayed in space #17 since we did not need power & sewer. #17 offer the best views of the grassy area and trees. The trailer mentioned in Teresa D.'s review was there when we were. The woman in the trailer may have fallen on hard times but was pleasant. D & DW are indicative of all the hosts, rangers, and maintenance staff we meet at the different Josephine County parks we stayed at. The Rogue River borders Whitehorse park and is accessible by walking or a short (60 second) drive to public boat launch where we launched our kayaks. Our hosts advised there had been theft problems at the park in the past but when you camp so close to a city it is to be expected. Heck, there is more theft along the Rincon in Ventura than anywhere else I've camped. Josephine County is known for low taxes and with that, lacking some public services but they don't skimp on maintaining their county parks. Grants Pass is a short drive away and has a Winco, WalMart, Fred Myers, auto part stores, Dutch Bros. Coffee kiosk (1st timers get free coffee) and everything one would expect in a big city. We were blown away with how friendly everyone is in Oregon. One kayaking recommendation. Leave a vehicle at Robinson Bridge, put in at Whitehorse boat launch. Two hour trip with little or no paddling, small beginner rapids & watch out for the jet boats, some will slow, others can tip a kayak with their wakes. Kudos to park administrators Sarah & Keith for maintaining a great resource on a shoestring budget. read more
