Our evening with Whitehaven was magnificent from start to finish. That includes the reservation process back in September when adjustments were required. Our carriage 'driver' was Joe and his horse was "two chains". Both were fantastic! Our carriage was BEAUTIFUL and well maintained, very festive with holiday decorations and lights! Only to be completed with onboard holiday music in the background for more enjoyment. The route provided a fantastic view of homes throughout the Highland Park area displaying all of the dramatic decor of the holiday season. Something everyone should take in!! SO nice to enjoy the luxury of someone escorting you through these lovely neighborhoods in a 'regal' style to be enjoyed with family and friends. Not to be missed!! We had the BEST time! Our family of 9 took a "limo" horse drawn carriage ride and it was the perfect size for us. The driver was so friendly and helpful - we have three young kids and he kept them engaged the entire drive. The lights were spectacular as usual, but the carriage ride made it a truly unforgettable experience. The kids were even allowed to pet the horses at the end. read more

They canceled our booking and have not responded to our calls and emails about a refund.

Booking was simple, and I got great communication prior to arrival. When I checked in, everyone was professional and accommodating. Our driver was super nice, making sure we were comfortable and having a good time. At the end of the ride, I was again impressed with the service as staff helped us get out of the carriage, throw away trash, and volunteered to take pictures of our group. Fantastic for the family; they provide blankets, Christmas music, etc. and they don't mind if you bring your own drinks for the ride... Have done it Christmas Eve twice now and my parents/family love it Easy pickup/dropoff across the street from Al Biernat's which is perfect if you grab dinner there and then walk across the street after. read more

Terribly disappointing experience. The top was on the carriage and we were not offered the choice of having it put down. The skies were cloudy but the weather forecast had less than a 10% chance of rain. We could NOT see anything without bending over to look out from under the top. I will say that the driver was polite, and the horse well behaved. read more

Used them 2 years in a row now. Very friendly staff. Nice "drivers". This years route seemed less impressive than last years but my teens love to look at and critique the fancy HP homes, lol. I recently took my family on the Christmas tour in Dallas. Our driver lost control of the horse on Preston Road and we almost hit a car. As if that wasn't terrifying enough, he then figured out he lost his cell phone and kept standing up and looking for it. Then, he asked us to call his phone and when it did not ring we turned around and went to find it. He asked my mother to jump out on Preston Road to retrieve it, and then called us on it to see if it worked. Then, he took us through several streets not on the route with no Christmas lights. All in all, it wasn't relaxing at all. We were all terrified that we were going to crash and we didn't get what we paid for. I would never recommend this company, because if that driver was a reflection of their company, then they suck. read more

My family had a very unpleasant experience with them. It was very upsetting to scroll through the comments afterward, only to find out that we are not the only people who have dealt with the horrible owners of this "business". We had promptly paid the company a few months prior to the quinceanera our family was planning. Anyone in charge of preparing a party for hundreds of people, know the amounts of stress and sleepless nights that are put into this one-day event. Well, the night before we had scheduled to bring in the Whitehaven horse carriages, we had received an email stating that they had canceled due to weather conditions. Not a call, which at the very least, under our circumstances would have been convenient. (Shouldn't businesses prioritize the convenience of their customers at all times, anyways??!) The following morning at around 8 A.M, we called to confirm the email we had received. The lady said that until further notice, they were still canceled and our $400 (I believe) would be refunded. What we found alarming was how she proceeded to say, "I'm not sure what we're gonna do. I'll ask my husband." Hours go by and absolutely nothing is heard from any one of them. Of course, we were under the impression it was canceled!!!!!!!!! We had about 2 hours to figure out a replacement and fortunately, we were able to do so. It was another $400 expense, but we were going to have our money "refunded" from the horse carriage company so it was no problem. Literally 30 minutes after we found their replacement and an hour and 30 minutes from the party, the lady calls and says, "we are on our way with the horses." After my mom explained that we had already taken action to fix the problem THEY brought to us, the lady began yelling. "Well what do you want us to do we're already taking the horses?!" ... "No we will no longer refund your money!!!" .... "Speak to my husband, I don't know". Desperate to speak to someone with some professionalism and cooperation, we called the husband in hopes to find it in him. We were so wrong. The husband was just as bad. He yelled and even hung up!!!! What kind of business person does that?? We called again and they had the nerve to place the blame on us for not cooperating. We simply wanted our money back because we had, after all, been under the impression that was going to happen. But no. They must need business this bad that they told us, "we're going and that's that." The arguments continued and interrupted our already, extremely busy schedule. To fast forward to the outcome, they grew so upset that only then were they able to turn back... and $0 were given back to us. Whether you choose to go with this company is absolutely your decision. However, if you do want to avoid an experience such as ours, I would definitely consider any other option. read more

Most horrible experience ever. The owner screamed and yelled like a child at me on the phone after a disagreement. He actually called my girlfriend and yelled at her for 15 minutes after I hung up on him. What kind of man yells at a woman??? Not a man at all. He took our money for a carriage ride and wouldn't refund it. We showed up an hour early for our ride and he told us we weren't on the list. He was very short with us because he was busy and told us to send him an email and he would look into it. We sent the email, not once, but twice and left numerous voice mails to no avail. After I got involved, he called immediately and began his rant and rave. It was truly ridiculous to listen to him. read more

The staff once we arrived was very nice but I chose whitehaven carriage as this company advertised Christmas music but the speakers on our carriage were not working which didn't set the ambiance I was hoping for. I would definitely caution you when considering booking with this company. My family booked two carriages for Christmas Eve - which is our tradition. Due to a problem with their booking system, one of the carriages was cancelled. After speaking with the owner, they made arrangements for our 13 person party to ride in one carriage - which was fine. Closer to the date of our trip, we called to confirm the trip and the owner began to explain that one of the previous bookings that we had was no longer there (which we knew, but after a 20 minute previous discussion with the owner - he assured us he had fixed it). I expressed my concern with the situation and the owner got very upset and ultimately hung up on me and he would not answer the phone. My husband then called both the owner and his wife and they both subsequently hung up on him as well. All that we were trying to do was confirm our booking for our family of 13 people - a booking that we had dinner reservations scheduled around. After attempts to contact them via email, we received what looked like an automated reminder that indeed we did have a carriage booked (something that we had not received prior). Then, we received a personal email from the owner saying that there was as "error" with our booking and we did NOT have a reservation. This company represents massive unprofessionalism and if, for any reason you find yourself in a difficult situation with them, they are completely unhelpful, combative and rude. I would highly recommend you go with another company. read more

The ride was great and we were fortunate that the weather was beautiful. I was a little disappointed that more houses weren't decorated ( Know it isn't Whitehaven's fault) For me, it is a one time thing because I think the price is a little steep for an hour and I could drive myself and see even more. I do think it is worth doing at least once. It took a little bit of time for me to reach the company after making my reservation online and I needed to change it but everything turned out fine and the staff were all very pleasant. read more
