Interesting and engaging spot inside a repurposed old mill. Fun menu with a lot of variety, delicious cocktails and great food. Service was also very good. read more

This place was good, but not perfect. The customer service and wait staff were on point and the food was good, but it didn't wow me. The steak I thought was pretty fatty and the fries it came with weren't great. I wasn't a big fan of the Caesar salad or Buffalo Brussels either. The BBQ ribs however were tasty along with the potato salad and corn relish. I tried a few oysters and loved the little bottle the hot sauce came in. The cucumber ginger Siren's Bath cocktail was great. I'd eat here again, but it didn't fulfill the high expectation of a 5 star rated restaurant on yelp. read more

It's an out of the way little gem of a place. Atmosphere is great, the food is fantastic. The menu changes daily, all of the ingredients come from local establishments . read more

Well we finally found this place... what a extremely pleasant surprise!!!! Wonderful staff and a wonderful meal was had by all! The mussels as well as the roasted cauliflower were both an exceptional treat! The steak as well was fabulous!!! The bartender is quite the showman, the craft drinks were to die for. Make a reservation as this secret is close to being let out of the bag!!! read more

Unimpressive and overpriced. Not worth the trip for what they offer, overall menu is limited.

My order was messed up, my friends order was forgotten. Wait time for food was at least 20-30 min. My friends burger was refunded which is good considering she was up charged initially for it and it consisted of just chopped romain and olive oil. Not thrilled read more

Well-intentioned, nice people -- but sadly mediocre when it comes to the food, at least the two times I've been there. Maybe they will get better! I hope so! It's true that I am critical when it comes to food -- but how hard could it be to serve tortillas made from masa harina and water? Too hard for them, I guess. read more

Restaurant located in velvet Mill inside restaurant but with very high ceilings and great ventilation makes it really almost outdoors dining menu was good a bit sparse the fish was excellent although bit spicy for my taste. The drinks wereExcellent staff very accommodating Definitely will go back read more

What a wonderful gem. My husband and I had the most delicious lunch here, it was worth the 1 hr drive. The owners are very warm and friendly, the food is delicious. Since I eat plant base only I though that would be an issue, but to my delight it was not. Johan (owner/chef) prepared one of the best quinoa and vegetable bowls I have ever eaten. My husband had the grass fed Berger which he said was out of this world. While we were there some one from a local farm brought a box of freshly picked vegetables which were used to prepare our meal. Abby (owner/Johan's wife) made us feel like family. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We will definitely go back even though it's a long drive for us. I highly recommend this restaurant read more

Second trip to Whitecrest, just as impressed as first trip. The food is amazing. We shared a couple apps: Mexican Street corn and Fried Green Tomatoes with Burrata. Both were so good. The menu does change all the time but it's the kind of place where I'm pretty sure no matter what you have, it's incredible. The owners are great. Very personable and take the time to come to each table. I was surprised they remembered us from last time. A really great find and addition, I CANNOT wait to go back again! We are so lucky to have them set up shop in the Velvet Mill. read more

What an incredible spot. Hyper local ingredients, paired with incredible cocktails. The food was crazy delicious! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Please visit this spot as soon as possible you will not be disappointed. Cheers! read more

5 stars! What a gem!! We were greeted by the owner Abby, her husband and co-owner Johan is the chef, we started with the "head on" whole shrimp appetizer ( a delicious tomato and chourizo dish) and a dozen fresh oysters, I had the butter fried whole fluke for dinner and it was amazing, the creamed corn was hands down the best I've ever had! My girlfriend had the "steak frites" she's not a big fry eater so she substituted the fries for some veggies, the wagyu was cooked to perfection, my parents had the crab risotto and they both loved it, I wish I had tried it myself just to see how it was. The fact that they only use local ingredients makes me feel great about paying a little extra to support local. Not that the food is expensive by any means, it was amazing and I can't wait to go back. P.S. they change their menu regularly, based on what's fresh and local at the time. But I have no fear about trying anything new there, Johan is a wizard in the kitchen from what I've tasted so far, I hope they stay around for years to come! read more

The best new restaurant in town!! The food is incredibly fresh farm to table with a brand new spin on local ingredients. The owners are incredibly nice and welcoming. The drinks are out of this world. Kelsey, the bar manager is coming up with cocktails that are so creative and tasty and unlike anything in town. We keep going back for more!!! read more

I'm a local. We are blessed with an abundance of great, diverse restaurants. Abbey and Johan have now taken us a step further. Local farms and seafood harvesters supply the goods and these two work their magic in this historic brick building. It's all good, and if you want to be a Stonington local come by and check it out. You will not be disappointed. read more

This little gem of a restaurant is the best thing to happen to STONINGTON in quite a while! Tucked inside the eclectic Velvet Mill Studios, Whitecrest Eatery is a superb find. The staff is warm and welcoming. The menu is creative and changes daily. If it's not fresh and locally sourced, you won't find it here. They pride themselves on using all the local farms and the staff is really knowledgeable about the ingredients. Both of our appetizers were delicious and the sauces were not "typical". Even the plates they use are charming china that remind you of a wonderful family dinner that is home cooked. I was torn for the entrees. The swordfish sounded amazing and the steak frites did as well. I went with door number 3, the pork chop, at the advice of our friendly server. Great choice! It was very tender and extremely flavorful. The sauce it was in was very unique and gave the meat a wonderful tangy flavor throughout. My good friend had the whole flounder and practically licked his plate. He shared a couple bites with me and I must say it was the best flounder I've ever had. The potatoes though- those really knocked my socks off. I try to avoid carbs as a rule but these spuds were worth every calorie. So yummy!!! Wish we had room for the chocolate mousse dessert but our feast did not allow it. Next time! And there WILL be a next time. As a bonus, I met the owners and they were very personable and energetic. Young couple with great energy. He's a wiz in the kitchen, a highly trained chef, and she's all business. They compliment each other's skill set and if you're a sucker for a great love story they will tell you why the Restaurant is named as it is. Tell them Lisa from the Ocean Chamber sent you. You'll thank me for trying this place! read more

Amazing food and very attentive staff. Stopped by this spot while visiting from out of town; and we were pleasantly surprised by the great atmosphere and food at white restaurant. Highly recommend the oysters and the buffalo Brussels! read more

I really wanted to like this place and it was our last night for dinner in charming Stonington with great nearby restaurants like Dogwatch, P & J Oyster, etc.. The setting was in the old Velvet factory so was expecting a funky foodie experience. Only the prices were foodie reminiscent. The food was practically inedible in a number of ways. The swordfish was waterlogged with cold salsa on top. The crispy brussel sprouts were doused with some spicy thing and that is it. The seafood past was glumpy and tasted sticky and awful. The salad had only some pieces of romaine lettuce which was dressed ok. I do not know how you mess up potatoes but they managed to make them tasteless although roasted. This was such a bad meal we tried to chase it with ice cream in Mystic to dislodge the bad memory. It did not work because I still am shaking my head. The music was fun and service people nice, but the food, the food, the food....maybe their cook fell ill IDK but horrible read more

Food was delicious. Service great, drinks creative fun but rewarding. Menu selection offered variety and had a great offering for whatever you maybe in the mood for! One of the best restaurants in Connecticut! read more

This is probably now the best food in the area. The food is inventive with bold flavor profiles that are spot on. Everything is house made with noticeable attention to detail. There is a large and varied selection of small plates and a great selection of entrees. Warm and attentive service combined with a nice wine list and creative cocktails round out an A+ dining experience. read more

We were on our way down 95 and decided to stop at Whitecrest and have dinner. The food the atmosphere and the service were amazing!! There is plenty of room between tables and I would go out of my way to come eat here!! The chef made a dish ( clams) to suit my wife's dietary needs! I had the Buffalo Brussel Sprouts and the fried chicken!!! Delicious!!! Thank you Pedro and the best of the team. You made this stop memorable!!!!! read more

This place truly deserves every ounce of success! My boyfriend and I look forward to coming here on a special date night out. We know and appreciate the fantastic quality of ingredients and care put into the meal. This is a great example of what a restaurant should be. Abbey has been so sweet and welcoming towards us and everyone that walks into their restaurant. We are lucky to have this new place in the area look forward to coming back! Thanks guys! read more

Adding to my previous reviews as I think the owners of Whitecrest Eatery are providing nice new food choices each week. I would like to highlight the loaded Mexican potato which we ordered last night but ended up eating this morning. In our area chourico means Portuguese sausage but in my home state of California chorizo is a terrifically spicy ground meat(beef & pork) that we often have for breakfast with eggs. Chorizo is not a common food item in New England so when Whitecrest had this on their menu this week I had to try it. So this morning my spouse and I split the rewarmed loaded potato and placed a slightly runny fried egg on top. This was the perfect breakfast and the juices from the spicy chorizo permeated the potato so that everything carried the flavors with the creaminess of the egg mixed in. During these times of takeout it's sometimes best to look at menu ingredients for not only what you want to eat now but also items you can save for later. Terrific job by the folks at Whitecrest Eatery. read more

Absolutely Amazing! Highly recommended. I love the fresh Local ingredients. The service was fast and friendly. The food was so delicious my husband and I kept sampling each other's dishes because both were so good. We were so impressed that we both agreed it was the best meal we had eaten out at a restaurant in a long time. It is a must try for all locals. read more

Absolutely delicious meal shared there with my boyfriend. The craft cocktail I had was fantastic, and the food was just incredibly fresh and flavorful. We had the schnitzel and it was lick-the-plate good. Don't pass up dessert. The chocolate mousse we shared was just enough of a taste without being too much. Fun atmosphere and the staff is friendly to chat with. read more

My husband and I ate at Whitecrest Eatery this past Sunday and we can't wait to go back! The atmosphere is so welcoming and the service so good that I felt more like I had been invited to someones home than eating at a restaurant. We love the open kitchen concept at Whitecrest. You can watch the magic take place as the chef and his crew prepare your meal (I suggest sitting at the bar to get this view). We shared mussels that were in a broth of coconut milk. I want to bottle this broth and sell it on the street!!! I had the short rib (AMAZING!!) and my husband had the pork chop (ALSO AMAZING). For dessert we had carrot cake that was so unique that we asked the pastry chef her secret. She shared it, but you will just have to go to find out for yourself. Another thing that makes Whitecrest so cool is the owners. They are a young married couple full of creative ideas and enthusiasm. I don't have enough positive adjectives to describe! read more

Great food, apps and deserts are great! Fried green tomato's for a appetizer with bursts cheese, great! Burgers and fries are very tasty and the. Tiramisu for desert was wonderful. Definitely going back! read more

Wow! We sat at the bar for a quick bite and were quickly drawn in by Whitecrest's inviting and enthusiastic staff. The cocktail specials and wine options were top notch - as were the local starter and entree options. Can't say enough about the level of attentive service (and the relaxed atmosphere). Eat here!! (Ask for Duncan!) read more

Amazing. Not only was both the front of house staff and back of house so kind and welcoming, but the food was absolutely delicious. Everything was so flavorful, fresh, and made with such talent. The atmosphere is perfectly tasteful and the menu is crafted and executed beautifully. I cannot wait to revisit this place soon. Thank you for such a delicious and nice night! read more

My husband and I recently ate at Whitecrest Eatery and we were absolutely blown away! We went on the day it opened on the our first time in Stonington, CT. It's a short drive from the town center so we had no issues finding parking. When we walked in, we were immediately drawn to the openness and warmth of the workers and the space. You can tell the amount of detail that was put into the space. The restaurant uses an open-cooking concept - nothing is hidden behind doors creating full transparency of the ingredients, kitchen, and supplies the cooks are using. The decor plays towards a industrial-chic style that fits the scene of the exposed brick and high ceilings. The restaurant itself exude the personality of the family that have put it together - creativity, talent, and love in every detail from the setup, decor, and, of course, the food. We felt like the servers were very knowledgeable of the food and drinks menu. We got a bunch of small plates and shared, but caught a look at the burger. We might have to get one of those next time! The food was phenomenal - we ordered the fried brussel sprouts, fries with a homemade dipping sauce, and elote (my personal favorite)! Overall, we had a really good experience, and we are looking forward to stopping in next time we are in Stonington! read more

Total Disappointment! After reading all the great reviews we were looking forward to finding a great new place for locals to enjoy. We had 7:00 reservations for 4 on Saturday night. The hostess didn't come to greet anyone for the first 10 minutes while she was bussing tables. Our table wasn't ready until 7:20. The place is small and the kitchen is open to the dining room so it's pretty loud. Buffalo sprouts for a starter were a little over-charred and covered in hot sauce. There are only a few big plates on the menu so we were very disappointed when they ran out of steak! My husband and i both got the swordfish which was drowning in some tasteless brown sauce and mine was under-cooked and over-salted. Same deal with the dessert, 2 items on the menu and they were out of one! The waitress never came by to refill our waters until we were leaving. We went to Water street for coffee and dessert afterwards. With so many good restaurants in the area guess we'll stick with the ones that work! read more
