I am reviewing the pub located within the hotel, Oasis bar and grill.
The location is convenient, right in front of the beach and the seating and carpets are nice and practical as in a local pub. I stopped here with some friends after taking a stroll in Portmarnock beach and we felt a bit peckish.
The prices are standard for a local and I just felt like something small like french fries; they were not like the traditional fat cut Irish ones but only thin strings - not the end of the world. My friend asked for a Caesar salad and while everyone was enjoying their meals and chatting, she realized that something was going on but she could not really believe it...am I really seeing this? So at the end all of us checked and yep, there was a worm inside the ciabatta bread (which probably came from a badly washed lettuce)...she complained and heard a sorry followed by a toast, offered as some sort of apology. She did not really want to keep on eating but then she realized there was a tiny spider on the lettuce itself, so we felt enough was enough.
To be honest I am giving not such a bad rating as the service was really good and people were nice and could not be more apologetic to what happened. The manager and the waiter came to talk to us and seemed really concerned regarding what happened and to the standards of the place so we did not have to pay but they really took the matter to their hearts, assuring this would not happen to anyone else. Nice location, service and unfortunate lack of attention to detail just this time, I would say. read more
