Lompoc Valley Inn and Suites

Honestly, it was not a bad stay at all!…read more I only give this place 3.5 stars because it's pretty outdated in terms of furniture and layout. I loved how the bigger rooms/suites were in a separate building. I loved how conveniently assigned our room was to the doors/elevator. I know hotels tend to place families near them. The elevator was slow, but our halls were quiet. I felt like we were the only ones staying in our building and maybe we were. lol The breakfast room wasn't too far a walk, as it was in the same building near the pool. You need a key to get in there which I liked! Sometimes you don't want random people eating for free you know. Breakfast was a fully breakfast, and the lady kept everything clean and coming out. However, she was slow to refill and the eggs and bacon were a little oddly cooked. Like some of the thinnest bacon I've ever seen and the eggs were kind of rubbery. I did like the blueberry waffle mix though. And the fountain drinks were nasty! Checkin was smooth and the older black lady who helped us is super helpful and nice! They had the lobby festively decorated too for the holidays! Price was great for the sized room we have. Had a kitchenette, two bedrooms with tvs, two full baths, and another tv couch space next to the kitchenette. Rooms were decently cleaned, but the carpet was old and sunken in. Next to the dmv which I found odd, but wasn't too far from solvang which was the only reason we were in town!

Pros: Personally my family and I had a great stay here!…read moreFront desk staff was curious and informative, beds were comfortable le and very clean and they were able to accommodate early check in for us, for free! Unlike most places checkout is 12 noon (compared to the standard 11am)!!! Free breakfast was pletiful and had a great variety of food, coffee choices, and juice choices. While we didn't visit the hot tub or pool, they looked nice with decent seating and lounging around it. Good parking but entrances into the place aside from the front desk were a little confusing. Also breakfast area (hospitality room) was a bit difficult to find (go to the pool. On the outside across from the spa, is the hospitality room. There is a sign). Cons: (mostly cosmetic. I can see bad reviews being picky or for spoiled "resort dwellers" lol) - Air conditioner stinks at higher temperatures and start up. Once it gets goin its good. - top cover of the bed is itchy....but not really needed? Just make sure it's on top of the sheet if you use it. - could use more in room lighting. - wiring and lighting could be updated...little on the older side. 100% functional though without issue - some small paint or glue touch ups could be done... cheap and easy to do to be honest and can go a long way - biggest issue was bathroom. It was clean enough with clean towels but wall paper could be glued down where loose or replaced, door hinges were super rusty and ugly (just cosmetic. Don't think I'd go out of my way licking them or rubbing my face on them anytime soon). Under the door had water damage...not really the hotels fault in my opinion. Maybe add a weather plate to protect it or at least cover it up. - shower knob.Requires a little know how and muscle. Had to call for instructions. To turn the water on pulls the center temperature knob outward (toward you). Muscle is required and it feels like it'll break but it won't. Turning it off is the same way, just push in hard.

I checked into Red Roof Inn expecting a reliable, no-frills stay. The price was reasonable, and I…read moretrusted the name, so I didn't think twice about booking. Unfortunately, the condition of the room was far from what I expected. To start with the positives, both the evening and morning front desk associates were friendly and welcoming, which I appreciated. However, that was where the good experience ended. The room itself was in very poor condition. The lampshades were visibly dirty, and one even appeared to have what looked like a speck of blood on it. There was a thick layer of dust--about an inch--on the back side of the TV, which made it clear that the room hadn't been properly cleaned in quite some time. One of the "clean" towels had visible skid marks on it, which was honestly shocking and unacceptable. It didn't stop there--there was mold above the door and also on the bathroom wall. Then, upon checking out in the morning, I noticed a tissue hanging from the ceiling in the shower. That was the final straw. I did inform the front desk associate when I checked out, but I'm still stunned at the overall state of the room. This goes beyond a simple oversight--it reflects a serious lack of upkeep and attention to cleanliness. I hope Red Roof Inn takes a closer look at this location and invests in the maintenance and sanitation it clearly needs. Guests should not have to question basic cleanliness when staying at a hotel.

The room advertised on Hotels.com looked clean, modern, and well-maintained, but the reality was…read morecompletely different. When we arrived, the hotel grounds looked nothing like the photos on the website. The property appeared rundown and poorly maintained, and the room itself was old, outdated, and did not resemble the listing at all. There were groups of people hanging around the parking lot engaging in what appeared to be shady transactions, and the strong smell of marijuana was present throughout the property. Most concerning was the fact that the door to our room did not have a working interior lock. We did not feel safe at all. Due to the unsafe environment and misleading advertising, we made the difficult decision to leave in the middle of the night and drive six hours back home. This was an extremely disappointing and stressful experience, and we regret booking this hotel. I would strongly advise others to avoid this property.

On a 40 degree night, the heater did not work and there was no soap or shampoo provided. Since I…read morechecked in near midnight and had unpacked, I decided to bundle up and get some sleep. In the morning it was so cold in the room that I was forced to check out 3 hours early with no shower. The front desk associate was very apologetic and said she would let the manager know. She noted that several heaters had been repaired recently, including that one. When we spoke on the phone the next day, she confirmed it wasn't working and had spoken to housekeeping about the missing soap and shampoo. When I finally spoke to the manager (Jacob), he said he would have to test it and call me back, then said it was working just fine and he could give me a 20% discount on my next stay. This place is a sham!

We stayed at this one star motel....Boy were we pleasantly surprised…read more So first of all....its a one star hotel. We were nervous because we read all the bad reviews. We booked here anyway last minute due to unavailability elsewhere. Our options were this motel, a campsite with no toilet or sleeping in the car. Regardless we booked on a Sat for $150 total. We arrived in late evening and were greeted by Jacob who was friendly, pleasant and welcoming. Check in was quick and seamless. We arrived to a first floor double room. Because of covid we wiped down all the surfaces and to my very pleasant surprise the wipes were just as white after. I was calmed. There a were couple of aesthethic things...but whatever its a 1 star hotel! The dryer was gone, there was one missing art frame (the had art frames!!!) and there were three wall repairs that were visible... but they were fixed and while the pain didnt quite match, it was clear an effort was made (and would you paint an entire room just for the pain to match or fix it until you're able to do it if you were running a business???!!....... Exactly!). The bed was comfortable although too soft and likely needs to be flipped or rotated. I'm used to my tempur pedic . There was a bit of a slight smell to the room, but it was more like ciagrette than anything...if was mild but noticeable... if it's something that would bother you bring febreeze or an air freshener. We noticed it and forgot about it even though we are sensitive to "scents." The room came with a 32inch (?) TV with dish cable and were able to watch some of our favorite shows including the Golden Girls! Lol...(yes even my millennial generation loves the golden girls!). We ended up booking a 2nd night for half the price for a single queen room. Which had a single queen, a nice small table with two nice faux leather chairs, and a TV that in addition to DISH cable came with Roku..but Internet was slower than I'm used to (I'm used to the fastest). We had difficulty with getting to regular TV because the previous patrons disconnected the cable HDMI. We couldn't figure it out so we called the front desk and Jacob was there within 2 minutes (yes!! 2 minutes, I don't even get this at a 5 start hotel!), he quickly set it all back up for us and even quickly showed us how to use both cable and Roku controllers. What exceptional service!!! This was room had no missing art frames had less patron damage than the first and had upgraded mini fridge. Both rooms came equipped with microwave, iron and ironing board, hangers in an open closet, a mini fridge, free wifi, free cable, and free Roku (access to Netflix, Hulu, Showtime in the 2nd room!) AND I especially loved the recycling containers!!! Both nights we woke up rested, checkout was the easiest! Leave the key and lock the door. For this 1 star hotel, just 17 miles from Solvang, with friendly and fast service it deserves more than a 5 star review. I'm glad now I know Lompoc for more than Mossimo being in its federal prison for the college scandal....lol. We'll be coming back!
