White Mountain Pottery - Loved the stories behind the pottery !! Thanks Don - Art Galleries Near Me - Ruidoso, New Mexico

In a veritable smorgasbord of mediocre and mass-produced tourist-trap pottery in Ruidoso, White Mountain Pottery is not only a breath of fresh air, it is a not-to-be missed stop for any tourist or local alike. Corinna carefully curates her gallery into a store that looks as much museum as retail outlet. Her careful selection of each artist and their pieces reflects the kind of skill that is only possible from a master potter herself. She and her husband Don's expertise about the art of pottery is matched only by their friendly demeanor and small town sensibility that leaves patrons longing for a glass of wine to sip around a well-stocked dinner table once they've stocked their suitcases and cupboards with the kind of beautiful, unique and one-of-a-kind items that are an extreme rarity in our world today. Do yourself a favor, stop in, say hello, peruse the gorgeous pottery, and leave with a well appointed table and a full heart. What a gem! read more

This is an Amazing Pottery Shop !! I've been in a few on our 3 month road trip across the Southwest, but nothing like this one !!! Don and Corinna, the owners, welcome you into their shop just like you're visiting their home !! They are both so Kind, Genuine and Extremely Knowledgeable about the Beautiful Pieces they have in their shop. Each artist's work is perfectly displayed and Don could name each artist and describe each of their beautiful work !! The 'Starry Night' pottery was gorgeous and Don even brought over a small light to show me the actual 'Stars' on the pottery ! I had to purchase one of the lovely dishes ! Don also showed me an unusual piece and asked me what I thought it could be used for, he gave me a hint and said it could be used when baking. I guessed a salt holder and then suddenly realized it was an 'egg separator' !! He was surprised I guessed it so quickly and of course I just had to purchase one !! I also purchased a small 'pillow like' piece that is designed to be used as a flower vase, it was Perfect for a small memorial setting I have planned !! I am so glad I stopped into their amazing shop and purchased a few items !! They will all be special mementos of my lovely visit to their beautiful piece of heaven !! You will Absolutely Love the time you spend here !! read more

White Mountain Pottery - Don and Corinna's Wonderful Shop of Treasures !! - Art Galleries Near Me - Ruidoso, New Mexico

My review will probably not do this business justice! I tried taking pictures and posting them but my Windows phone doesn't work too well with the yelp app :-/ But I digress. This place is full of unique, local pottery that ranges from the typical dinner set and cups to flower pockets and freshly picked flower vase! All the pottery is uniquely designed, each with a story behind its creation, which the owner is more than happy to share. Its like walking through a museum, full of beautiful creations, except you can touch things and buy items at more than reasonable prices! You can definitely see the hand crafted abilities of the artist by the uniqueness of each item; none two are the same. As soon as I get my backyard retreat finished, I'll be back to purchase a complete dinning set. A fresh flower vase was perfect for our fresh cut roses and a jewelry holder will make a perfect gift! Overall, I'd highly recommended touring this gallery/business to, at a minimum, see the beautiful, local creations and maybe pick up some unique gifts for loved ones! read more

I was visiting my brother the middle of December.. i left on a Monday and spent it shopping up and down the main street in Ruidoso.. I went into the pottery shop.. always before every pottery shop i have been in has been so incredibly so expensive.. i do not mind paying a reasonable price for quality work.. i was so thrilled to see the pieces in the shop.. beautiful, very functional and SO REASONABLE IN PRICE.. The owners are extremely friendly, helpful and are very knowledgeable about the potters and their work.. when i go back to Ruidoso, and I will; i will be stopping in.. also planning on ordering some more pieces for gifts this next year.. read more

I love love love southwest pottery, and this place is the best place to find diamonds in the rough! Everything is AMAZING! I love the attention to detail from a single coffee cup to entire place setting for any party serving size -- with the decor to match! Pottery itself is pricey but this place is very much in line with other local pottery stores! I can't wait to fill my kitchen with the amazing decor! read more

Beautifully curated, high quality pottery with a variety of pieces (mugs, plates, vases, lamps, trays, etc) in each design. Don was very friendly and helpful, and gave me information about each artist's work I expressed an interest in and some of the processes they used to create their artwork. I ended up selecting three pieces and Don packaged them very securely and even buffed out a few small rough spots on the bottom of one of the mugs. I could have easily bought many more pieces than I did. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for beautiful, high quality, unique pottery pieces that are not astronomically expensive! read more
