We had walked that shopping area up and down twice before we saw the sign for this. It's an adorably quaint shop. So many wind chimes, so much local art and artists from all over represented in the store. I loved that they are caring for 3 cats, whom they've spayed/neutered when they were abandoned. They sell these wonderfully made quilted post cards, and the proceeds go to a fund that helps neutering and spaying the local stray population of cats. We will definitely go back for that one bat I really wanted, but could not afford just yet. read more

Without a doubt, one of the best little galleries ever! The two owners have a lovely array of handmade objects. They know their artists and can tell you stories about them. The gallery is beautifully arranged with colored walls which make the art pop. There is also an outside area full of interesting and unique yard art. My wife and I felt we'd check it, since so many stores we've seen in Cloudcroft start one year and are gone the next. These ladies told us they're the 4th oldest store in the town and that tells me they're doing something right! Definitely walk the block and a half off the main shopping street in Cloudcroft to visit Off the Beaten Path. The shop has a great selection of art pieces from around the U.S., everything from wall and garden art to jewelry and fun functional items like measuring spoons and magnets. The owners also do cat rescue and spay/neuter of feral felines, which signals that they are an active part of the local community. In addition to measuring spoons shaped like dog faces, we found a wonderful rusted metal horned toad for our front entry. Definitely will go back! read more

I LOVE this shop! wonderful owners who also do cat rescues! How great is that? We just popped in this weekend after hearing about it from another shopowner's recommendation. Really cool artistry and off the wall items. I wish I had went here first! Items are a little pricey and I had already spent my quota, so I wasn't able to buy anything but I wanted practically everything! You know how you find those places that are just "YES-this place is a KEEPER!!" Wonderful, unusual art should cost a little bit, right? YES, visit this place FIRST!! Interesting art pieces made by local and national artists. Big hit for me was the wooden carving boards -- works of art in their own right, very impressive. They are made from varying woods with dovetails and inlays. Each piece is incredible. Definitely will go back. read more
