My family and I decided to go to the White House for early dinner after church Saturday. Nice to get there early as this place can get really busy by 5 or 5:30. We were lucky enough to get Hunter who served our table of six and tended the bar too. Dinner was typically awesome with Spring Bowl of tasty rice and vegetables and Gyro meat (excellent substitution) and the White House pasta salad which is the best around (I order a full one to go). My wife and sons had the gyro sandwiches as usual. Those come either basic style with titsiki or loaded with vegetables also. Hunter was busy but attentive and the food was awesome as usual. This is a great place for very high end family meal that never fails to satisfy. Get there early and make reservations as this place rocks in the evening. read more

Went here on 11/8/2024 for wife's birthday. We chose to sit at the bar and have drinks with our food. We had a lot of fun eating here. The bartender was friendly, attentive, and creative with making us custom drinks we called Orange Man, Red Wave, and Democrat's Tears. All were great! Food was high quality and portion sizes were surprisingly large for the price! Everyone at the bar was having fun and customers at the bar were also friendly and social. Bartenders were entertaining to watch with how quick they were with making the drink. Ours was able to make two drinks at the same time with both hands. We could easily see why this place was popular. The place was packed and super busy. The bar stools seemed to be a highly sought after seating for everyone. The bartenders are doing a great job! Well, here's an update to our last five ATTEMPTS to dine in, order to go or...get a gift card. So, last July 2022, my wife called to make a reservation for her 60th birthday. We couldn't decide but chose the White House Grill. I think on a Thursday. We walk in, the host asked me how many. I mentioned we have a reservation for two at 5pm in the dining room. He promptly says, "We don't take reservations." My wife says to him that she called earlier in the day and was confirmed, adding it is her 60th birthday. He says, sorry, you'll have to wait at the bar or as tables open. I'm HOT!!!! I'm looking at his face piercings, tattoos, feeling his angst and disregard to us. My wife says, come on let's try the bar. We go and sit at the bar. We order two glasses of wine and look at the menu we know well. After a few minutes, I tell what happened at the door and declined for a reservation even though it's a 60th birthday dinner. I mentioned the host attitude. She says, well, he's having a bad day and customers need to be patient. She then asked what would we like to order. I said give us a moment. We were just in shock. What has happened to ANY customer service OR respect? Neither of us had yet voiced what needed to be said. I declined ordering, paid for the two glasses of wine and we went home. Two other times we've ordered to go and both orders were wrong. We didn't find out till we got home. Two other times we've had wine at the bar. All other customers who are recognized by the bartenders get served first and asked how they are doing. Anyone not known is treated differently. It's so obvious. I'm not snobby but just amazed. TODAY.....I walked in at about 2pm. I asked the hostess at the where I can get a gift card. I was told at the bar. I've purchased a gift card before at the bar for a fundraiser a few months ago. I see that there are four people sitting at the bar so I go stand at the far end. There are three seats open but I notice someone's book and two spots have glasses and plates so I stand and not take the seats. The bartender yells down at me, "There's someone sitting there, ok." I'm thinking, oh, ok....I can see that. I walk down to her location and stand as she's making a drink. The bartender chats with the three customers. She asks the couple what they are doing today. The wife says moving. Bartender asks oh where to. He says Coeur D'Alene. Bartender and the two keep talking. Bartender asks the man customer if he needed anything else. He says no. Now....the customer returns to pickup his stuff at end of bar. Bartender asks if he needed anything else. He says no. I'm still standing there wondering if she sees me since I'm four feet away and listening to her conversation with the couple. Suddenly she slaps a menu on the bat table in front of me says...here's a menu. She walks way quickly with a drink for a customer. I don't touch the menu. Plus I didn't want to sit because the bar table for me was crowded with other bar equipment and glasses. I wait for her to return. Bartender returns gets behind the bar and asks me what I'd like. I say, "I'd like to get a gift card." Oh, you can get that at the front door. Oh, I say, I was told to buy at the bar like I have before. She says no, at the door. I go to the nice hostess and ask for a $50 gift card. I share that it's for a 50th wedding anniversary for someone who's live here their entire life. This restaurant has a great reputation for the food but we are done. read more

Came here today. Place was packed. The waif of garlic filled the air. If you want to get on their waitlist, you need to be there in person. All the staff was nice. We decided on calamari and Sarmisak, the roasted garlic dip as appetizers. Both were delicious and as you can see we started eating the calamari and dip before I got the before picture. The calamari also had fried pieces of garlic as well. So good! Then the main dishes came. I got the deluxe gyro, filled with all the veggies. The pits bread was crunchy which I would have preferred a warmed softer pita bread with it. BF got the chicken rome which is basically like chicken parmesan but the tomato sauce is on the bottom. Everything was perfectly cooked. Juicy and flavorful. Green beans were cooked to perfection and the pasta had just the right amount of garlic. My BF's step mom got the chicken Istanbul. Great flavors that I have not tasted together before. Very flavorful even the rice. The veggies were al dente cooked but still had that bite. Next we shared Kadayif. It's a Turkish baklava basically. It's a walnut mixture on the bottom with shredded pastry on top baked to crunchy perfection and a dollop of cream before its served. Everything was full of flavor and garlic was part of every dish! Good food. OK service. But... Classic credit card screw-up/scam: You receive your bill and give them a credit card. When the credit card comes back, you notice the credit charge is higher than on the bill. Turns out if you use a credit card, they add a surcharge. At the bottom of the credit card statement it says, "Due to the chicken flu and storms in Tanzania all credit and debit cards will include a 3% fee." This is not on the original bill. I was not amused. Very annoying. I won't go back. Here's what they SHOULD do: The actual food prices are pretty reasonable. If money is so tight there, they should make the charges a little higher and offer a discount for cash. read more

Mother trucker, this place is GOOD. We spent our anniversary here and the warm, dark ambience was homey and romantic. Service was awesome and the food was LOADED with chopped garlic. Garlic, the true panacea! Sizable portions but not so much the restaurant will lose money. Cooks could review steak doneness and use the "face" method instead when measuring. (Your cheek is rare, your forehead is well done.) Since both our steaks were cooked a smidge off what we asked for. But it was good! Don't get us wrong. The steak could've also sat for a bit and continued to cook so maybe that's what happened. They were seasoned perfectly. Walked in to the strong scent of roasted garlic. Line cooks were working in full force. My wife (6'7", romanian women's basketball player, strong unibrow) and I were greeted by the host and escorted to a 2 person table. Due to a large staph infection on the underside of my thigh, I felt some discomfort on the edge of my chair. I notified our waitress, and she returned with a warm pillow for me to place under my thigh. I ordered 3 orders of the Turkish cigars for myself, and my wife was nonverbal that night so I got her the lamb skewers. When the food came out, I was so excited that I let out a loud "WHOOOOPPPPIEEEE!!!!!". The food was to die for. So good. Halfway through my meal, though, my infection flared up and I passed out on the table. My wife carried me out on her shoulders and left a $100 on the table. The Skinny: If you love garlic you NEED to come here. It may very well have become my favorite restaurant of all time - like I'm drooling just thinking of it. The food: EVERYTHING is delicious - and basically everything reeks of garlic in the most amazing sense of the word. I didn't even think it was possible to make food taste so garlic-y. We were in Idaho for a short vacation - and ended up going here twice (that was us restraining ourselves). I would recommend everything - but a few highlights: Sarmisak (garlic dip with pita bread), Kuzu Makarna (lamb with noodles), and Spring bowl (chicken over rice). The surprise winner for me was the noodles and rice - both of these took on all the garlic-y sauce goodness. Definitely get something that comes with either one of these - you won't be disappointed. Though there isn't a single dish here where you could be disappointed. Prices/portions: $$ decent price for huge portions. Did not disappoint, but with how good the food is here - it doesn't hurt to over-order :) COVID: Idaho overall isn't observing any COVID rules, no mask laws and no social distancing. The restaurant especially seemed to be back to 'normal' and crowded. I ordered food for pickup here, and was the only person in sight with a mask. The food is great but I'd recommend only doing pickup here and saving dine-in for a future time period. Would I come back: 1000% yes - and I already do every night in my dreams. What a delicious garlic fix!! We had the Calamari then a Shepard Salad with Steak. We travel a lot and while not certified foodies we certainly are apprentice foodies and this was in the top 5 meals I have ever had. Service was excellent, however we were there at around 5 pm so ahead of the dinner rush. Within 30 minutes the place was packed and several (okay a LOT) people waiting. Dinner with group of six locals (part of larger informal neighborhood foodie group). This is a Grill, not a restaurant promoting itself as "Fine Dining". So not a fancy place. But clean and roomy. Friendly and efficient from first person who meets you upon entering. Seated quickly (we had a reservation), and the outstanding server was there for drink orders immediately, and then proceeded to do a happy, prompt, and accurate service for the entire evening. A+ to her. The food is outstanding. Not too much garlic at all, but lots of great flavors. We shared a few appetizers (very good), then some had soup (off the chart excellent Onion soup), and some had salads (fresh and crispy). Most of us then had some variation of the Sea Bass mixed grill, some with extra Sea Bass, and some with lamb and/or shrimp. Impressed all six diners who were impressed not just with the flavor (including the green beans and rice) but with the generous portions. Multiple desserts at the table and all reported or tasted as big thumbs up. Best comment was from our first timer couple who simply said "Wow, this is one of the best places in the area. Amazing food and customer service that is beyond fantastic. I've been 3 times. I've ordered the traditional gyro each time. I will order something different next time, but these have me coming back and they're a great price. Several weeks ago, my niece ordered the market platter, I think that's what it's called with the sea bass, curried chicken and prawns. She said it's one of the best meals she had ever had, and we would be back. Last night, Sunday, September 15th, I called in an order for pickup. I was told there would be a 20-25-minute wait so I decided to tool around Walmart first. I figured I'd give them the full 25 minutes since I was sure they would be busy, and I was right. When I got there the parking lot was jammed full. I think there was a wedding party that was just leaving but inside was still packed. I had to park next door. I walked over and walked in, and the place was bustling. I stood by the door for a minute and when someone came up I let them know that I had placed an order for pickup. They told me they didn't think it was ready yet. I said "oh, I thought I gave it enough time." Then someone else came over and asked what I ordered, and I told them, and they found it on the counter. I mentioned that I figured the small bag was mine. I then inquired where I could pay. One of the men in the kitchen said "it's on us." I told them it wasn't necessary at all. I had really only waited 10 minutes or less total but he insisted. I said okay, free tastes better and thank you! This level of customer service deserves a rave review. They also comped something the first time I was there for a sit-down meal because it took a bit longer than anticipated. Mind you, no one at the table had complained about the wait. Hope you love garlic because I do and you can smell the garlic from outside! Kind of cool that they have an open kitchen and you can see it when you walk in. I've been here twice and have enjoyed it twice. Hummus makes store hummus not worthy. I highly recommend their sarmisak (appetizer of garlic, ground walnut and parm)! I think it's wonderful that they have entrees that are a wide range of cost as low as $10. I really recommend their Mixed Grill. The Chilean sea bass is so tender, a good portion and flavorful! Sorry pictures are kind of dark, but the atmosphere is dimly lit. Staff is friendly and personable. Really appreciate our server.
