The main bar area was quiet for a monday night, but there was a pianist in the corner and the atmosphere was really cosy, not to mention a good range of real ales that the barman informed me were all local. The room we stayed in was clean and tidy and the staff were all excellent, couldn't have asked for more.

Our evening meal was beautifully cooked and presented, although our reserved table was in the centre of a family birthday party which made conversation difficult. It was a fairly noisy evening with parties but the worst late night noise came from the pub next door where bottles were thrown into bins into the early hours and shouting from their customers kept us awake. However, this hotel has great atmosphere, a good selection of drinks and an excellent breakfast menu. Would recommend it to anyone although perhaps not those with young children.

The breakfast room had a lovely view of the turn in the canal. You can easily walk into Nottingham centre along the canal too, where you can get to the cool bars that are on the canal. If you go along canal the opposite way you will meet the Trent river and have a smashing view of Notts Forests City grounds. It's a nice walk too, during which we saw a family of Canada Geese. I guess it'd be a pretty handy hotel for the of Notts Forests games, as well as any of the cricket games at Trent Bridge.

We didn't feel pressured or rushed to finish, it didn't matter how much noise we made (within reason!), there were strains of happy birthdays being sung around the room at other tables! Well worth the price, which I think was £15 for a three course meal served to you at the table (we were with family members who paid for the party, so not 100% sure of the price). Highly reasonable prices and the owners were really helpful and friendly - although also left you alone to enjoy your holiday. I would definitely return!

They have all mod cons and laundry facilities are located on site. We stayed there for New Year for a week and had a lovely time, the locals are friendly and in the cottage there is a book which recommends local places to visit and where to eat. The price of the cottages is excellent value and worth every penny. The farm is owned by a local family and were very efficient in all dealings for booking the cottages. Ideal for weekend breaks also. We spend seven days there and could have stayed another week theres so much to do. The cottage we stayed in is upsidedown so we slept downstairs. This is excellent as you can eat your breakfast upstairs and see the beautiful views from the windows.

There are flagstone floors and lots of rood panelling. There's an extensive menu with a range of full meals, and hot and cold sandwiches, and a good range of real ales. In our party the £10 Sunday Roast went down very well, with generous portions and huge Yorkshire puddings. The £12 veggie burger (minced mushroom) was very good and also generously portioned and cake with sweet potato chips and coleslaw. For s busy Sunday, service was very quick and friendly. So, not the cheapest venue but good value if you can manage the portions.
