I visited the new rebuilt location today. Great big open kitchen (Which takes up the majority of the restaurant) friendly staff... but the design of the entrance/waiting area sucks. I don't get it. They spent all this time and money building a beautiful fast-food place and forgot that they needed room for a long line to form during busy times? The line was out to the back door and blocked the Drink dispensers. I must have heard "Excuse Me" 50 times in my 10 minutes on line. There is also less seating than the previous space. Yes....5 stars. And yes. I'm sober. Only 5 stars for this particular location because it is very nice now. I have not been to a White Castle in years, never mind this Lynbrook location on sunrise highway however this place is so different than I remember it during a munchies run from too much alcohol! First of all they moved the bathrooms next to the entrance and they are large and clean. Second of all and most important their kitchen is an open bay where you can see all of the workers coordinating and working hard to produce your meal as fast as possible. The cashiers were very nice and the place was incredibly clean. The food was the food. The White Castle of my teens still a favorite whenever I am on Long Island. Stopped here after Hurricane Sandy for Double cheese, onion rings and sweet potato fries. Went there 2 or 3 times since they built the new building. That is the third White Castle in that location since I have been going there. I started in 1975 and always got 11 Cheese Burgers, Extra Ketchup, Steamed. Why 11?? Because after 10 I was still hungry and I could not eat 12. Thanks to the brains on the top floor in White Castle Headquarters, they completely renovated a White Castle that needed no Renovation. The last time I went there it was a disaster and I swore I would never go back. Sent a letter to Headquarters and they sent me a voucher which I never used. Anyway, I went there tonight because they were the only place open, big mistake. I made the mistake of ordering a nonmeat burger. They had to cook it special cause I guess no one orders them. They started cooking it when I should have gotten my order. 15 minutes later I got a hot non-meat burger, 2 cold hamburgers, 2 cold cheeseburgers and a cold sack of onion rings. I know I was there at 1 am and maybe the top employees are not there but I honestly do not fault them, I fault headquarters. I fault headquarters because this never happened the last 25 years, only since the new place. Anyway, I'm tired and want to go to bed. I will NEVER step foot in the Lynbrook White Castle Again. The condition of the store was shameful as they had food remains, dirty napkins, and ketchup staying on virtually every table leaving me with no choice but to eat in the car. I love white Castle! There is something about the unique taste, and there is something about the ambiance that makes me feel good. My favorite order is six cheeseburgers well steamed, one small rings and one small fries, and a chocolate shake & a glass of water. When I bite into that cheeseburger, and my teeth penetrate that little bun and the cheese and the burger and the onions and the pickle, I close my eyes and I know I have found heaven on earth. I have ordered sliders from the menus of the finest restaurants in Manhattan, and they boast that they are made from ground Japanese Kobe beef. They use caramelized Vidalia onions, sautéed in white French truffle butter, and combined with American cheese that comes from a small farm in Wisconsin, where 20 gallons of milk yield only 1 pound of cheese, which retails for $250, if you can find it. The buns are made of brioche, and the ketchup is homemade from blue ribbon Heirloom tomatoes, grown in the fertile soil that is fertilized with rodent feces, indigenous to Borneo. At $40 for three little cheeseburgers that almost look like White Castles, they don't even come close to the burgers that I crave. There is no snob appeal to White Castle. The meat is cheap, the buns have no flavor, ketchup is Heinz if you're lucky, and the cheese can be bought for $3.95 per lb. at the price club. Who doesn't love the "murder" burger? Their is are variety of burgers, beef, chicken, fish, veggie. The also offer seafood and dessert options. I am a diabetic and wasn't suppose to indulgence is dessert. However, I did order the cheesecake on a stick. Two hours later, my sugar only spiked a little. It was delicious. Place is usually clean when I'm there late night. There is no drive thru but who cares? I don't mind going inside. The service is pretty quick and since I go late night there is not much of a crowd. We slowly repeated our order to her, and when she reads it back from the screen it was wrong, AGAIN. Also she kept asking about onions...no one ever said anything about onions!!!!! This happened 2 more times...... When she finally got it right, we get our food, drive home. Well not a surprise here the two double cheeseburgers had no pickles on them even though we specifically said "DOUBLE CHEESEBURGERS WITH PICKLES. REGULAR CHEESEBURGERS NO PICKLES" legitimately 4-5 times. AND my chicken rings had no flavoring on them which I asked for. Better luck next year I guess....but I'm definitely going to a different location because this was a joke. Just annoying that we paid almost $30 for food when half our order was wrong/they didn't have the shakes we wanted...... Also as we were leaving someone else went back inside to complain that their order was wrong as well. Generally I like White Castle fries. However, I would pass this one by. The one time that I visited, the floor was a total mess. The dining room was totally un-appetizing --needed an overhaul, cleaning etc. I walked into the place, and took about three minutes and walked out without buying anything. White Castle is something that you crave, knowing you're going to regret it later on, but you just have to eat them anyway. With that said, I was anxiously awaiting the re-opening of this White Castle. Was there tonight and was totally disappointed. I don't know if they are cooking the burgers differently, but they had absolutely no taste. There were minimal onions on them and possibly that was the reason that they had no flavor. It's old, dirty, messy, garbage-y and had plenty of dried ketchup crust around the ketchup pump. It's like dining on a Manhattan city street. I was very upset when I saw a high fence surround the entire structure and parking lot for this White Castle, several months ago. But apparently, they are just renovating! I saw it this morning from the LIRR station platform (which is, very conveniently, right across the street) and the renovation looks to be almost finished - new signs, completely new building. Can't WAIT for them to reopen. The food - well, what can you say, it's White Castle! I love the food, and I know that there are a multitude of other devoted Slider lovers. Just ordered a number 1 and 7 I believe it was with the 10burger2 fries 2 drinks and the 4 burgers fries and drinks... so that's 3 drinks I ordered to go.. remind you I come here on the regular but this night there was another male blur shirt gentleman working. After me getting my order leaving then realizing that the soda's I made (Sprite) wasn't good I went back and the gentleman said no problem change it for the other sprite machine I took he's word left tinny cat and the same result. I asked him since a lot of the soda's on both machines said out of order if he can make mine behind the counter. He said. I he didn't have a soda machine by him. He ask me if I would like something else I said yes but your machine is broken. He then turned to me and said no it's not broken it just need syrup. I said ok since you've been knew it was broke yet don't you fix it.he said he was to busy and continue taking orders with drinks in them not giving a fuck!!!when I pointed that out to him he tried to give me $1.80 refund for the soda I said I don't want a refund I just want a soda since I ordered 14 burgers!!
