    Long winded fast food.
    Jason T.

I don't eat Whiteys, but my son-in-law does, so I stopped for a 20 Clutch to take him in Windsor. I made the mistake of ordering a chicken ring with cheese for myself, and 25 minutes later, I'm still standing here. This sure isn't fast food!!

My mother-in-law's first time. She enjoyed the sliders. After her negative reaction 8 years ago. My wife may be okay having these again.

My wife is from a third world country She has a stomach of cast iron. 8 years ago I wanted her to try one of my childhood treats. So we went to White Castle on Woodward in downtown Detroit. She got violently sick and threw up for 30 minutes. This was the first time in her life this has happened. She has been terrified to try it again until today. She had one slider in Paradise Las Vegas and really enjoyed it. Hopefully now I don't need to sneak away and grab a few burgers without telling her. I've only left a handful of Yelp reviews over the last 15 years. But I have to tell her story.

Impossible burger and small fries (I've already eaten some)

This was my first White Castle experience and I was quite pleased. My friend and I did drive through so I'm not sure what the inside of the restaurant is like. We were greeted right away when we pulled up to the menu outside but hadn't decided yet so we were given a couple minutes. I got the impossible burger and small fries. We were told it would take a few minutes. It didn't even seem that belong before we had gotten the food. The burger is tasty and I wouldn't have guessed that there wasn't meat if I didn't already know. The fries had just the right amount of salt and were oh so good.

It had been 20yrs since I ate at White Castle in New York, where I had the best burger of my life!! I raved about those little sliders every chance I got to anyone who would listen. I pulled into the parking lot in Detroit and almost cried I was so excited to eat here That was BEFORE I tasted the grey colored, dog food tasting rubber disc they tried to pass off as a burger. I forced myself to eat 2 of the 4 sliders, then picked out the pickle on the other 2 and tossed them into the trash. They were so gross the trash spit them back out! I will say, they have ample parking, a clean EXTERIOR, friendly staff and the fries r very good...which was basically the only thing edible in my order. Lots of staff and the tables were still filthy, we had to ask for a cloth and wipe one down ourselves. Yuck! It wasn't even busy. Would not recommend eating here, and really hope the owner see's this and addresses the meat issue - beef should not taste rank! Giving 2 stars because they do have chicken and cheese nibblers which I didn't try and the fries were good.

Disappointed when I saw the young lady put the fries back in the oil to re-heat. When fries have been sitting you dispose of them not serve them to your customers Very slow service. Employees seem ‍ confused or maybe they've been up all night. The place could be cleaner.

    hamburger slider and fries

I stopped here before a megabus trip to Chicago. I got 5 hamburger sliders (75 cents each) and fries. I thought it might be a lot and I could save 2 for the trip to Chicago, but they were quite small: I could finish each slider in 4 bites, so I easily finished all 5 while there. They were quite delicious though: exactly what I wanted out of an unembellished hamburger. White Castle was apparently America's first fast food. While I was eating, it really felt like a window into the 1950s. The interior also felt like a fast food joint from back then.

    The infamous White Castle slider

I was stoked to finally have the opportunity to try the infamous White Castle slider while in Detroit. We don't have this on the West Coast. There really isn't much to say. I ordered a cheese slider with the works (basically, onions, ketchup and relish (I think - I didn't recognize it). The slider is cute. The slider didn't taste good. The slider patty had an unappetizing texture. The slider was thrown away after one bite. The end.

I had just gotten into Detroit from NJ and was debating hitting the Tigers vs. Red Sox game that night, but decided to slow it down, walk around, and grab a real meal instead of rushing it. The place sits at a 4.2 on Yelp and leans into the film's iconic line. After checking out photos, I was all-in on getting a burger--but ended up pivoting. Walking in, it's clean with a rustic vibe. On the left, two large monitors cycle through the menu (a little fast, honestly), but the QR code helps you actually read it without pressure. You order at the counter, pay, grab a number, and they bring the food to your table. Simple, smooth setup. The menu's full of character-inspired names, which is a nice touch. I went with the Royale Fries & Brisket--seasoned fries topped with 18-hour smoked brisket, smoked Gouda cheese fondue, coleslaw, and honey-ancho BBQ sauce. Good move, especially since I wasn't in the mood for a bun. The brisket had great flavor but could've been a bit more generous. The fries, though, carried. They had that curly-fry-style seasoning (even if they didn't fully commit to the curl), and the combo of BBQ, slaw, and Gouda worked. I'd come back just for that. I was ready to skip dessert... until I saw people walking out with shakes. Not a huge selection, but cereal-inspired flavors--CEREAL. I got the Cinnamon Toast Crunch shake. Easy recommendation. On the way out, I grabbed a s'mores cookie and saved it for later that night. Soft, gooey center, marshmallow, Hershey's chocolate in the middle, and a full graham cracker on the bottom. I've had s'mores cookies in NYC and back home in NJ--this one hit. Really good. Staff was friendly and easygoing. Quick story: there's a sign telling you not to touch the cookies because the marshmallow sticks to the wrapper. I asked about it, got the explanation... and still did it anyway. Ended up scraping (and yeah, licking) it off. Zero regrets. Shoutout to the chefs, owners, and staff. Solid 4 stars--great food overall, but could use a little more brisket and the theme doesn't go quite as far as it could.

The chicken still had a nice crisp to it, which is always a gamble with fried food. The flavor absolutely delivered: perfectly seasoned with that signature spicy kick that builds without overwhelming. Juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside--exactly what you hope for. The sides held their own too. The mac and cheese was creamy and comforting. If I had one note, it would be that the spice level might catch you off guard if you're not expecting it. But personally, I love spicy food, so no complaints there. Overall, a great experience even via delivery. First, the packaging threw me off.. they don't even put the food in a proper container. The chicken was just tossed into a bag on a piece of parchment paper with a slice of hard white bread. It didn't feel sanitary or appealing at all. The chicken itself tasted old, dry, and chewy with barely any flavor. It also didn't look appetizing, which was already a red flag before I even started eating. I kept hoping it would get better, but it didn't. The mac and cheese looked promising when I opened it, but it was very bland and lacked flavor completely. To make things worse, I paid extra (75 cents) for ranch and never even received it. Overall, this experience was a huge disappointment. I don't like leaving negative reviews, but this was honestly a 0/10 for me.
