10/10 best place to eat in Cascade, ID. the owners are awesome and Danny was an absolute all star! this is my top place to eat in Cascade!

Service was good, bartender was nice. The burger was better than expected walking in, home made buns and bread. Buns would have been excellent toasted. Finger steaks were over cooked tasting. Terrible margarita, the place is a little odd, kind of pieces together rooms and was cold and kind of had the old building smell. read more

This is a great place to stop if you want to break up the drive between Boise and McCall. The atmosphere is homey but clean, and they bake all of their bread fresh (including the pizza dough, which is excellent). They have three beers on tap, and a bar right next door if you need more variety. We had pizza with a glass of Fat Tire, and finished it off with a slice of fresh strawberry rhubarb pie and espresso from the coffee shop down the street. This place was the perfect stop on our way up to Brundage. The waitress was super nice, the food was quick, warm and inexpensive, the drinks came quick and often and the decor was exactly how it should have been. They also have pizza to go service which we will use the next time we are on the way up to our cabin and want to take dinner home with us. The only reason the Whistle stop does't get five stars is because they were out of their famous cherry pie when we were there! read more

Our brunch started out with flat sodas, and though the waitress seemed aware that there had been an issue she also seemed annoyed that we asked for it to be fixed. The food was mediocre and there was just nothing that made this place stand out. While the staff aims to please and are very pleasant and friendly, the food is so-so. The dinners are better than the breakfasts. As for dinner, the shrimp and baked potato was good, but salad that came with it had wilted lettuce. The chef salad was pretty good, but wilted lettuce. Breakfast for husband was eggs, hashbrowns, biscuits and gravy; gravy had primary flavor of flour; no sausage or other flavors. Rest of this meal item was good. Wife had two scrambled eggs with bacon, which was all good. Now for the restaurant. I have NEVER, EVER eaten in a filthier place!! Ceiling fan blades were coated with grime and dirt; table cloths, while under glass, were stained; light fixtures which hung over tables were heavy with cobwebs and bugs; window sills and frames were beyond filthy/grimey/muddy/disgusting!! Possibly best place to visit in Cascade. Good food, nice staff, variety of American food. They will even let you take home the pizza to bake if you promise to bring the tray back the next day. We often go to the bar associated with the restaurant. The bar is smokeless, clean, and decent beer on tap. You can eat in the bar. We make it a regular stop on our yearly vacation to Cascade lake. read more

After being told that I wasnt wanted in this town during the eclipse, i was served canned soup and and a frozen preformed hamburger. Im pretty sure i dont want to be in this town either. Pass this place and head south. Friendlier people. read more

Bakery items are delicious. Food is ok but each time we've gone we've had issues with orders, timing or temperature. Might be hit and miss. Nice downtown location and fun decor inside. TV's for the sports fans. read more

We stopped at this restaurant tonight to get out of the cabin, it is a cozy little cafe right on the main (only) street of Cascade. The waitress and staff were warm and inviting, we chose to get the taco pizza, we were quite happy with our choice! The pizza is handmade, excellent crust, with the perfect balance of toppings! We did however, see other dishes coming out, everything was of a generous portion. On top of that, everything was placed on the plate in a clean and neat order, you could tell that nothing was just dumped from the fryer straight into a basket. We will be back, the prime rib or anything with fries will be my next meal here! read more

My husband and I dined at the Whistle Stop Cafe last night. Our food was delicious! I ordered the pizza and my husband had the top sirloin. The food took about 20 minutes to make which I view as a good sign. My pizza was fresh and actually homemade like the menu said. My husbands top sirloin was the perfect amount of pink. Our server was so sweet and even though she had the whole restaurant to herself she made sure our waters were always full. We will definitely be coming back! We didn't get a chance to try the dessert but, their pie looks amazing! read more

Not a very appetizing restaurant. Went there for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. Had a cuppa soup and salad. The soup was good but salad left a lot to be desired. Did not know that ripe olives could go bad but they did. Lettuce was strange. It did have lots of sliced meat and hard-boiled eggs but after the bad olives I couldn't eat the rest of the salad. My friend had a hamburger with a homemade role. Unfortunately the Home made role fell apart so she could not eat it. read more

The pizza is delicious but the service is typically sub par. I spent about a year going to whistle stop weekly for lunch with my friend, now it has become a tradition of ours whenever I go back to visit her in Cascade. The pizza is always thick, hot and delicious, we always get cheese. Get a medium instead of a small, it's only 50 cents more, and you can have leftovers :) The service is usually pretty bad, last time she didn't bring a grilled cheese (and we only ordered that and the pizza) I heard the people next to us say their steak was not cooked correctly, the waitress replied she would tell the cook, but left it at that. Cascade is a small town and when talking about the whistle stop the story is usually the same: good pizza, the waitresses are not very service oriented and they never offer to fix a meal that doesn't come out right. read more

Delightful place. Poor waitress had 5 tables fill up at the same time, but she greeted us right away, had our order as soon as she possibly could, so once we ordered, we had a short wait for our food. Homemade bread perfectly buttered on my BLT, shrimp on the basket perfectly done. read more

Possibly the worst dining experience we've ever had. Took at least 30 minutes to get a couple drinks, food took at least 3X longer. The entire time we waited for our food and drinks, and even while we ate, we had the pleasure of listening to the servers yelling and complaining about previous customers and conversations/language that were very inappropriate. Never once were we checked on, we had to track a server down to simply get dipping sauce at our table and when they brought it...the server dropped the sauce cup ON THE FLOOR and proceeded to HAND IT TO US AT THE TABLE. SAUCE OFF THE FLOOR! and it was a joke to them. Food was meh, and we weren't even offered dessert, not that we would have stayed. Will NOT be returning. There are plenty of other decent places in Cascade to grab a bite to eat, won't be wasting time or money here again. read more

A nice place to eat in small town America. Stopped in for the pizza and was pleasantly surprised with the quality, taste and presentation of the pie. I ordered the 10" personal pizza(pepperoni) and was unable to eat more than half of it. ( it could serve two normal sized adults or three kids. The wait staff was pleasant, friendly and courteous. The restaurant is a bit dated and eclectic but adds to the ambiance of a non corporate store. read more

Tonight we went in about 10 minutes before closing and the waitress named Renea told us very rudely that they close in 10 minutes. Then she forced us to get our food to go. And she made us pay for the meal so she could close down her till before closing. She was extremely pushy and rude with us. We will not be returning there when that waitress works. Im so disappointed in that business for letting her treat people like that. I hope she doesn't do this to anyone else. read more

This is such a quaint, adorable little spot. Delicious homemade bread and the best clam chowder....competes with high-priced restaurants on the coast. Burgers are great too. Chef Sharon is the bomb! 1st time here, didn't have much money to spend but found reasonably priced meals and they were so good! Large portions, our waitress was practically a mind reader, love her. Very quick service, HOMEMADE BREAD! Even the burger buns. Will be coming back here next time we're in town. read more

This review on a few days old. I had to venture to Cascade, last week for my Star card, and some fishing gear. One "Star" that shines in Valley County, is this place.While not the number one suggested of eateries in Cascade, at least by the people that told me to go somewhere else when I was in town. The Whistle Stop, was both cleaner and far more friendlier to walk into and be able to seat myself. Unlike the other place that I had to wait to be seated and then wait 5 minutes to be waited upon. A very polite Server, was soon taking my order. She was wearing a t-shirt that I recognized as it was from my home town. The other customers were older, that made me feel even more at home. The Spanish Omelete was plain Superb, and the bread was really good as well. Bottom line here folks: I didn't have to wait 45 minutes for my food that was even worse than the waiting time. The service was great, the food excellent, and the check even better than them! Being an old guy on a fixed income, I'll bring my family or a blondie date..for Pizza, next time! We have been here several time this summer. The food is good. Each time my plate of food was warm not hot. The shrimp plate wasn't my favorite. The chicken fettuccine is good...just needs to be hot. My husbands prime rib was a bit tough and fatty. My husband liked his fish and chips. The service was good and the servers are friendly and helpful. Next time we want to try the pizza. read more

The pizza here was purely wonderful. The service was the opposite. There were two waitresses serving the whole restaurant, half of the time I was dodging trays of pizza as they rushed back and forth. One of them broke a container of crushed pepper, that was fun. In addition to this mess, the glimpse I had into the kitchen of this fine establishment was definitely not up to health code. My family and I came here for dinner around 6 on a Tuesday. My son actually recommended this place, and said they had good pizza. The place was busy, and the waitress was working really hard. She was super friendly, and did an amazing job handling a a packed restaurant. We ordered the appetizer platter first as the pizza was going to take 20-25 minutes. The platter was good especially the onion rings and the mozzarella sticks. The wings weren't that great, and we did not finish them. We ordered the peperoni pizza, and you could tell it was freshly made. I was super excited to try it, but that is when my excitement went downhill. It was probably the most bland pizza I have ever had. I did not even finish 2 slices. Pizza is my favorite, and I could barely tolerate the dough I was given. Perhaps it was becuase they were busy, but the pizza had no sauce and maybe 1 or 2 slices of peperoni per slice. I think Little Caesars makes a better pizza and that is a stretch. Anyway, kudos on the friendliness, but owners need to staff better. I have been here before and the food is ok ,just really disappointed in the pizza. read more

This place should stick to pizza because even their cheese pizza tastes delicious. As for their other food, not as good. I ordered a burger and their "homemade" bun was so hard I could barely cut through it with a steak knife. The service is....not bad but definitely not the best. There were only 4 tables, including ours, 2 of which had already ordered. So the waitress asked if we wanted soup or salad because it came with a meal. We said soup but got salad.
