It's tough to whisper about this place when my whole family LOVED it! We had a big group, but we heard the food was worth the wait. That was absolutely right! The ambiance was down-to-earth and warm, very family friendly. We had two servers since our group was so big. It was tough to decide what we all wanted to order. I had the honor of getting the very last apple dumpling! That came with thick cut bacon (yum) and raisin bread toast. The bread was no joke - it was dense and delish! This was a fun pit stop on our road trip between Door County and Indianapolis. The location just off the highway couldn't be more ideal. We found the spot on Yelp and it was just the combination our family needed- delicious breakfast and leg stretching outside. The farm is filled with goats, peacocks, llamas and charm. Our waitress was friendly and we enjoyed the barn-like setting of the restaurant with stuffed animals, pine walls, etc. The menu offers some great seasonal dishes like French toast topped with in-season fruit, etc. I thoroughly enjoyed my apple cider grains that had a mix of healthy grains that had been milled on the farm. So hearty and delicious! We were also able to pick up some fabulous farm fresh eggs before checking out to hit the road. I could taste the fresh ingredients in everything I ate - and it made the meal wonderful. This hidden gem also features pleasant and friendly service. I love this place for breakfast. They make great food but my favorite is the bread pudding. They do cherry, blueberry, rhubarb, & strawberry bread pudding. It comes with 2 eggs, bacon sausage or ham. They have a little animal area with alpacas, goats, a pony and chickens. Weekends are very busy. read more

We had accommodations at the Highland Lodge but since they no longer really serve food (muffins and cereal) we decided to make a quick trip down the road to this cafe for breakfast. Upon arrival the parking lot was packed. As we entered the cafe it seemed quiet for the amount of cars outside. It took a minute to be seated as I realized that most of the guests were seated upstairs and staff was hurrying up and down the stairs to serve them. We were seated downstairs in a small dining area. The food was delicious and was served quickly. Once we were finished up and headed to the front to pay, we went into a small store for purchasing items. We chose some bacon and a peacock feather for our daughter. We also picked up some sea salt chocolates. Everything was wonderful and if we ever visit this area again I would definitely return. I'm sure the place is packed when the orchard is in full bloom. We got to sneak a peak at a couple animals but it was extra chilly out the day we visited. The eggs were seasoned properly, a rarity, and the ham demonstrated just how amazing livestock can be when it hasn't been flash frozen. The pancakes, although slightly denser than most, did an amazing job of absorbing Whispering Orchard's delicious syrup. This restaurant provided such a fantastic experience that I literally marched back in the next day. In terms of Sheboygan brunch, there's nothing more that I could recommend. read more

This place was very disappointing to say the least. Walking in with my girlfriend and her family (of Mexican ethnicity) our group was treated terribly. After waiting an hour and a half to be seated, our group was sat at an unclean and unprepared table. We waited another 20 minutes to be attended to, despite the people around us (of white ethnicity) being attended to within a few minutes. The waitresses would give our group dirty looks and purposely ignore our requests for even the simplest items. When it takes 15 minutes to receive a few packets of creamer, one has to sense that it's intentional. It truly is a shame, as the food was actually good and well worth the price. Bottom line, if you are a POC, do not expect to be treated with respect or decent service in this establishment. read more

Daily specials run out early on weekends. Admire the seasonally-dressed taxidermy. Feed the goats and lamas, avoid the peacocks, say hi to the Scottish Highland cows. If you like the toast, you can buy a loaf of bread or their local eggs. They have a little shop adjacent where you can pick up apple butter, apple cider and bags of apples. read more

While visiting relatives in Manitowoc, the idea to go out for breakfast on Sunday morning came up on Saturday after the Badgers game. Ann suggested Whispering Orchards. I looked at Yelp to see if there was a George Webb's in Manitowoc (I seem to remember one) but alas, no George. Ann went on to describe Whispering Orchards and it sounded like a great place! (Yelp confirmed her enthusiasm.) On top of it all, we'd be well on our way home since the place is in Sheboygan County, just a couple of clicks this side of the Manitowoc county line and a few clicks from Cleveland. Yes, Cleveland. You could look it up. No swashbucklers, no brownies and no aborigines with bats. If you elect to attempt a Sunday morning breakfast, be prepared to wait but unlike the usual suspects that feature long waits, at Whispering Orchards, there are enough interesting things to keep you occupied, so interesting that you have to pay attention lest you miss your name being called! There's a modified petting zoo, with an emu (I recommend you best not try petting him) along with lots of chickens, baby goats, exotic birds, a cute donkey and a llama. On our visit, there were several very tiny kittens, not afraid to explore or just sun themselves. There's a kid-sized fort made from hay bales and a vending machine that dispenses handfuls of feed that goats will gently eat from your hand. DO NOT MISS THE STORE! Naturally, the feature product is apples, sold by the half bushel, peck and half peck. Of course, an orchard isn't much of an orchard without bees, so honey is a featured product in small squeeze bottles (in the shape of a bear, of course) but also in pints, quarts,half gallons and gallons. In reality, honey is sold by weight, so I'm guessing at the size of the jars. There is also a huge, stainless steel tank and you can bring your own container and fill your own container with honey for less than five bucks a pound. You'll also find jams and jellies (I'm not adventuresome enough to try tomato jam. Seriously, tomato jam.) There are also several varieties of canned fruits and veggies, including pickled asparagus, hot pickled eggs, peaches and several other items. I suspect the availability changes. There is a wide selection of wines, apple cider (no, not apple jack) and a wide variety of gift items. When your name is finally called, you'll be ushered into a tiny dining room downstairs or a larger room upstairs. (No elevator, so tell them if you can't do stairs.) The dining room upstairs includes several stuffed animals including (but not limited to) a turkey, weasel, bobcat, badger, porcupine, beaver, prairie dog, deer and a bear that is mounted as if he's picking apples. Some of the animals are dressed for Christmas over the holidays but nothing scary at Halloween time. Speaking of Halloween, if you visit in the fall (as I did) you'll find hundreds of pumpkins to choose from. Back to the restaurant - come hungry! Eggs are fresh (you can't get much fresher than right on the farm) so there's a selection of omelets and egg dishes. You can order flapjacks by the short stack or stack, including apple pancakes (of course.) Add bacon, sausage or ham to your breakfast for a nominal addition. I opted for French toast, well soaked with fresh eggs. Maple syrup is on the table for you. If I lived in Cleveland, or even Sheboygan or Manitowoc, I fear I would be 15 pounds heavier from eating at the Whispering Orchards Cafe. It's over an hour from my home in the Milwaukee area, but I will be back, if for no other reason than to buy fresh eggs, jams, apples and (drum roll, please) honey. Note to my 414 friends - I'm telling you, make the drive to Whispering Orchards. You'll thank me later. read more

This local, family owned establishment is so great! From the restaurant to the store and the hobby farm, it's awesome and a great place to enjoy brunch with family! They offer many fun and unique brunch options and even Apple Cider Mimosas!! Oh yum!! The Zucchini Bread French Toast on the specials menu was phenomenal! The sausage was yummy and oh man the Bacon!! It's so thick and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Oh. So. Yum! The taxidermy is fun to look at upstairs. There's an upstairs and downstairs area to eat, but we ate upstairs both times. The store has some fun things to buy. I bought a child's size knitted hat, because I have such a SMALL head. We also got a caramel and peanut candy apple which was good, a frozen apple pie-not so good, and a bag of Pala Red Apples-yum! They're the perfect combo of sweet and slightly tart! Just took my wife out here for breakfast. Still as good as it can get. Wonderful omelet and everything else, very friendly and attentive waitress. For people who complain that the place is too crowded and slow, this is the time of the year to patronize this wonderful restaurant. There were only two other couples when we were there. Their business is pretty slow these days; but they are keeping their normal hours until February, when they will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. A nice ride in the country leads you to this destination restaurant. Free range eggs and premium ingredients make this the best breakfast in the area. read more

Great hidden gem out in the countryside. The breakfast was very good. We enjoyed walking around the property for the views of the land and their goats that your could feel for a quarter or two. This is an extremely solid breakfast stop. It's even better for the family as small kids (and grown ones too) can visit and feed the goats, alpacas, rabbits and chickens after eating. Stopped in for my 2nd time today. It is a cozy destination for breakfast or brunch. The staff is incredibly friendly and the restaurant is very clean. Today was really busy with the Sunday church crowd so the food took a while to come out.. probably close to an hour.
