I feel like there is something for everyone here! My husband thought the Dutch apple pie was out of this world. I thought it was different because it was chopped oats. We were not a huge fan of the chocolate chip cookies, the texture kinda got me, and the chocolate chips were an interesting flavor. My mom thought the pecan tarts were so yummy. I could literally taste how fresh and homemade that dough was, I thought it was very good as well, but probably would try something else instead next time. The cinnamon roll was interesting because I thought it was a lot more Joey than we used to and it had an icing on top. I actually really liked it. I am not someone that likes the super glazed sweet stuff so this was the right amount for me. My husband and I were not huge fans of the Fry pies. They were glazed, which is a personal preference. But the filling was just too much for me, I like more writing than filling, especially in the middle. It was a little overwhelming. I also felt like they were filled with more of the canned stuff rather than fresh bc of the consistency. The fresh sourdough bread was out of this world. I'd definitely recommend getting a bread loaf!!!

We have tried many baked goods in the area and I have to say the glazed donuts were one of the best I have had. So light, pillowy and full of flavor. I was not so much a fan of the chocolate chip cookies, but my family loved the molasses and ginger cookies.

Staff at the farm and in the farm stand were all friendly. Although the place was busy, there was next to no waiting to get up close and personal with the animals or walk around inside the market. Our visit was mostly the gift shop and grocery store. The grocery store was a great stop for snacks. They had some delicious pies. At least the cheese and blackberries one I had was delicious. And since the crust is great, I would imagine they were solid choices. They had a nice selection of Amish popcorn and maple treats too. The gift shop is large and has a good selection of items. The yard decor and patio furniture were all fairly impressive. Some things were even Buckeyes themed! The leather goods were the other highlight. I thought the rucksacks were great and had me wishing I could take a hobbit adventure But, the highlight for my sister was a real/ nice belt that she is excited about. My highlight was the pecan turtle I had for dessert. It's a great spot in Amish country and the service was very pleasant.

Buckeye Bakery - The Sweetest Shark Attack in Mansfield…read more Wandered into Buckeye Bakery on a mission for donuts... and walked out like a sugary Santa Claus. I picked up a dozen-mix of joy: Long Johns, glazed classics, cinnamon rolls (the kind that whisper "just like Mom used to make"), and pecan rolls that should come with a warning label: "May cause spontaneous joy." Dropped them off with friends and boom--gone in two days, like a Netflix binge with frosting. High praise was given. Teeth were thanked. Waistbands were stretched. But I didn't stop there. Oh no. I went full dessert diplomat and made a fast-follow with peanut butter cookies and some shark cookies, because hey--it's Shark Week, and nothing says "celebrating apex predators" like chomping into one made of sugar and love. Verdict: Donuts: Fluffy, fresh, and clearly baked by folks who take their carbs seriously. Cookies: Delicious and festive--like eating a holiday. Vibe: Old-school bakery charm with new-school treat game. Next time I'm in Mansfield, I'm diving back in. Sharks beware. I bite back.

I showed up, told the wonderful women behind the counter that I'm not from here (TX here on a 6 month job), that I have zero idea what anything is in their display case because nothing in Dallas looks this good and just pick me 6 of the best things they have. 3 of the 6 never made it back to my jobsite that's 10 minutes away. The raspberry Danish, the deep fried glazed ball of heaven and the chop suey never stood a chance in the truck with me. When I did make it back, my local subcontractor looked at the box, KNEW I went to Buckeye Bakery and said "You did good". Overall, they're about to make me gain 20 pounds and lose all my money. Thanks, I guess.

Blue Rooster Bakehouse - Oberlin, Ohio Driving through…read moreOberlin, I was looking for a good cup of coffee and decided to stop in at Blue Rooster Bakehouse. The menu is written on a chalkboard, and there's a display case showing off all their fresh pastries and treats. I was hoping for something savory, and the barista mentioned the only option was a cheese croissant. It wasn't shaped like a traditional croissant, but the dough was flaky and buttery, filled with jalapeño and cream cheese, and finished with a sprinkle of salt on top -- surprisingly delicious. I ordered a Doppio, which I later learned is a double shot of espresso. It was strong, smooth, and paired perfectly with my pastry. I also picked up a slice of gluten-free banana bread for my husband. They had about four gluten-free/vegan options available, and everything looked freshly baked. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the space itself was cozy, seating around 15 people. However, accessibility could be an issue -- the narrow layout and tight walkway would make it difficult for anyone using a wheelchair to navigate. My total came to around $12, which felt reasonable for a specialty coffee and baked goods treat. Overall, it's a charming little spot with quality coffee and friendly service -- a place I'd return to when I'm in the area and want to splurge a little.

We finally settled on oatmeal cookie (man it's so good), fig/goat cheese/pear pastry, berry pastry, americano, and a chai latte with oat milk. We had a blast eating outdoors at the picnic bench, nice breeze even on an August morning! If we're ever in town again, this will be our Go To spot for sure.

Hometown Bakery serves everything from granola and muffins to cupcakes, ice cream sandwiches, zucchini bread, and everything in-between. We ordered a custom cake for a birthday and it was luxe, delicious and a big hit. Keep in mind, this is a small town, so the owner does not yet have a menu of her custom cakes or accompanying pictures. The ordering process was a little stressful because of this (I appreciate photos because it helps me understand what I'm ordering). Be prepared to be patient if you place a custom order. Hopefully she creates a menu with photos soon! I totally get the vibe that Hometown Bakery might sell out early, so be sure to plan it at the beginning of your day. There's a few tables and chairs inside as well as a small coffee menu. The owner is very talented and takes a lot of pride in her work. I heard they may even offer classes soon, which would be a fabulous addition for the area! The zucchini and pumpkin bread here are absolutely fabulous. Don't overlook this made-with-love bakery!
