I waited for about an hour since there were a few people ahead of me but Oli was absolutely amazing! She changed out my jewelry and re-pierced my ear with ease! She explained the healing process and I love how knowledgeable she was! We had the best time laughing and vibing to her music. I left out of the shop feeling like I made a new friend! Not my first tattoo, but my first at Whiskey River. I was mostly a walk-in (there was a tiny bit of emailing prior to me coming in). I'll admit, when I first looked at my artist's portfolio (Matte Midnight), I was more than a little skeptical... This man does BEAUTIFUL traditional (read: bold lines, bold colors), but I wanted fine line with only a little black and gray shading, and am a wimp when it comes to pain. He took his time getting my stencil exactly how I wanted it (minor changes, but still, changes), listened to what I envisioned, and gave quality advice (sizing, placement, etc). LET ME TELL YOU... I would go back to Matt in a HEARTBEAT! I hardly felt him at all, and almost fell asleep on the table. I had almost no bleeding after, and my skin was only mildly red. My husband came here for a tattoo a number of years ago when we still lived nearby but I had never stopped in. I have sent some email inquiries and have always had a quick answer back. I needed to get the back on a new ear piercing changed and needed a new back so I walked in last week and spoke to the friendly gals up front - super nice, took a look at my earring and then said they'd get me all signed in and taken care of. There were a few people waiting to be helped with various things but they helped me within about 3 minutes and I was easily checked in and headed back to have the back taken off my earring and a proper fitted labret added to my flat-back earring in my high cartilage. Bridget (sp) who did my piercing at a party hosted by Either Ore in October, remembered me and was super sweet and helpful. Everything is on the up and up - they took my license, had me sign a release, the shop is super clean and neat and well-run. All in all - I think it cost me like $20 to have it professionally looked at, cleaned, and a fitted flat-back put on specific to my ear anatomy - if that isn't worth $20 I don't know what is! Plus, they have a very nice and large selection of piercing jewelry in all kinds of colors and shapes and sizes ranging from fine jewelry to less expensive. My oldest recently expressed interest in getting her ears pierced so I asked my sister-in-law where she had gotten my niece's ears done. They are of similar age. I wanted this experience for my oldest to be the best, least painful and the least traumatizing, if possible, so first step was to search for a pro. I wasn't comfortable with the mall route that I went with when I was that age many moons ago and the lack of training and the proper equipment. Yikes! My SIL highly recommended Whiskey River Tattoo (WRT) as she had multiple piercings done for both herself and my niece. I am very glad I called ahead because there was a lot that I wasn't aware of! Some notes for piercings (and I am pretty sure it applies to tattoos since laws classify these services as body modification... wow, interesting, ya learn something new every day): - walk-ins welcome - both the minor and you have to sign a waiver - you will need documentation: *birth certificate or I am assuming a document proving guardianship of the minor if you are not the parent on paper *picture ID (like student ID, military ID, passport, etc) but if your child is a young school aged minor that doesn't qualify for most of these types of IDs, a screenshot of the child's main page on an app like ParentVue, an app to get the report card info, is fine *your picture ID - I'm not gonna lie, I got sticker shock when I heard this, but to my defense, it has been EONS that I have gotten my own ears pierced and I've only ever gotten them done once so it was like a one-and-done type deal so it's not like I am constantly aware of what the going rate of piercings have been over the years lol. It's $140 plus tax and this includes the piercing and the earring studs that will be used to pierce them. The earrings are made with surgical grade titanium and the backings are flat, that are less irritating and more comfortable. After confirming with my SIL, I got over my initial shock hahaha - another thing that is nice, especially for parents like me with minors or if you're also like me and highly allergic to pain hahaha, they can have two pros pierce both ears at the same time. The receptionist advised over the phone that to have the best chances of getting that option is to come on a Sunday when both piercers are on staff. We still walked in on a Saturday and was pleasantly surprised that another piercer was there, so my oldest was still able to do that. I think I was more anxious then she was hahaha. First, this shop is very inviting. The reception front area is more of a jewelry boutique type vibe. It has jewelry showcases and a couch and table to wait your turn. Also, nice jewelry picks! I'll definitely come back to browse more of the Modern Mood line. So unique and pretty! And finally, Stacy is a complete rockstar! She was the main piercer and she talked my oldest through the entire process, making sure she was aware of her every move and eased her anxiety (and mine haha!). Ollie, another piercer came in to assist with the double piercing and the whole process was relatively quick! Ollie also double checks the marking before she pierces her side. Stacy explained the post care process thoroughly and encouraged us to come back once the 4-6 month healing process should be done, so she could remove the studs with the sturdy backings. She even gave her a lollipop and a goodie bag at the end and even gave my youngest one when she politely asked, even though she didn't get her ears pierced (she's like pain? NOPE haha). Me and wifey's first tattoos, done as walk-ins on a whim (uncharacteristically) without any prep/research, to celebrate our anniversary...NOT a midlife crisis, I promise! It was a cool sign to see our assigned artist, Carl, walk out wearing a Mets hat (we're huge Mets fans, I was also wearing a Mets hat). He and other staff were friendly, informative, and collaborative. Planned ring finger tats; while they would have done them, they strongly cautioned against bc tattoos on finger/hands don't hold up well and hurt a tad more -- google "hand finger tattoo fade fall out" -- so got wrist tats instead. AM and PM, thus the sun and moon. Waivers were signed, IDs were checked, draft art was created by Carl and tweaked by us for style and size considerations. Carl made both stencils, shaved my arm, applied the stencil for my final confirmation, then worked quickly while talking to me throughout. It's not excruciating but it's not a tickle either. Actual tattoo time combined for both of us was 15 minutes. He wrapped each one and gave us care instructions. Paid easily via Apple Pay, $200 for 2 tattoos and $40 tip; tip must be paid cash btw. Gender neutral restrooms, atm onsite, plenty of parking in shared lot. Staff has apple computers; you can easily air drop your inspirational art for expediting your work! read more

My daughter finally talked me into letting her get her belly button pierced. She researched and saw a lot of our Military friends liked this business - she called to ask about walk-ins, pricing etc. The lady on the phone was very helpful so we headed out that way! I cannot recommend the professionals at Whiskey River enough! A little under a year ago I had my earlobes reconstructed after having stretched them and tearing one entirely. A few months after my surgery I went to see Stacey, who was highly recommended by a friend; when there, her and a couple other piercers examined my lobes and they unanimously advised me to wait to pierce them- which I am extremely grateful for. This signified the value they have in their craft, care about their clients, and integrity of each piercing. Every few months I would check back in to see if they were ready, and they finally were 9 months post-op! Not only did Stacey pierce me, but so did one of the other piercers, Oli. Again, so much care put into the process by them: ensuring I was okay with the placement, talking me through each step, and ensuring I would properly care for the piercings after. Going to start my review by saying that the piercers at Whiskey River truly do care about you, your experience, and your healing/care journey with your new piercings. I'mnot sure of the lady's name who helped us choose jewelry before our piercings, but she was an absolutely helpful person. She was making fun conversation with us which made the entire process less nerve-wracking! She also offered services that I haven't been offered at other places like anodizing titanium to match my other jewelry. As for the piercing process, Green was amazing. He gave solid and helpful advice as far as aftercare and timeframes go. He even gave my friend a gift card to come back next time as she wasn't able to get pierced that day for other reasons. He also made fun conversation and helped us get comfortable for our piercings. I think that Carl (artist) and I came up with a great design. However, I feel there was a huge disconnect in the colors I wanted to use and the end product. He had the TV blasting, so it was difficult to communicate with him. I should have had him do a full picture with color on how he was going to do it, but I was recommended him, but not impressed. I left with an incomplete tattoo and did not feel heard. I told him that I didn't like the color, but he just said, you can come back in a couple weeks and we can do touch up. He gave me zero after care instructions and just felt that maybe he was off his game that day. I would recommend making sure you're on the same page in the design and color (if using) with the artist. I've gone to other tattoo artist and they did not show colors on the design and did great. Drove from Williamsburg, VA to get my daughter a labret piercing and was told to come back in 4 to 6 weeks (only told us that). Came back 6 weeks later, from williamsburg, and then they tell us "oh also your supposed to wait until it hits her teeth. So we had to drive home. Came back after 3 weeks and got the bar changed and was charged for it. Then we come here today to get a bridge piercing.... we walk in, since they don't take appointments, and we tell them what we want and they say "come back tomorrow". They had 3 ear piercings ahead of us. Why not come back later? Drove an hour and a half each way only to be told to go away...we will NEVER come back here again!! read more

Came in to get my double Tragus as a walk in on a Wednesday night, and I was greeted by the amazing receptionist who was super patient, sweet, and personable. She honestly made my visit and was very helpful and remained professional and calm despite a problematic customer (unfortunately didn't get her name but she has pink hair). The piercer was quick and professional, kept it short and simple while also being friendly as well. While this shop is a bit pricey for piercing related purchases, the jewelry quality reflects its worth, as well as many of the brands featured are from small businesses. This place is amazing!!!! Awesome comfortable waiting area and hilarious super friendly artist. We had Julian as our artist and he was phenomenal.. he was focused, gentle, fast, and precise.
