Just went in for a consultation with Steve, I stopped in last Wednesday and gave them the pictures of what i wanted. So Steve has had them for that amount of time. He said he need a "clearer" picture of one of them which had a woman's face on it. He said he needed a clearer pic. I asked him if he's ever done a woman's face before. he said "yes" So I told him just to go from his experience. He got all bent out of shape and told me he was having a bad day and "I'm not your guy" Spears this pen back in the cup and just walks off to work on somebody he had in the chair. WTF?? Ok. So I came here with my daughter about 1 month ago to put a deposit down on a tattoo she was to get on her 18th birthday (today). We specified we wanted Chris to do it but he told us he was off that day. He then decided to come in anyway for us since it was for her birthday. We were very happy about this, but he was a little rude in telling us she "better not cry". Fast forward to today: We couldn't be more satisfied and happy with the whole experience. Chris was 100% professional, very pleasant and happy, & even allowed for both her father and I in the room. Even though it was a small name and little star tattoo, it came out perfect. Needless to say, we tipped him very well and will come back for mommy daughter tats in the future! read more

First time customer: They are friendly, professional ( well if you don't mind the F bomb being dropped every other word) and confident without being cocky. Ruby greeted my sister and I. When we told her what we wanted she immediately starting asking questions and giving advice which I loved because I had to no clue what to do. Kinda annoyed tbh. I emailed ahead asking about their "walk-in" policy and was told they take walk-ins all day so we showed up around 6pm (they close at 10pm) and checked in and were told the artist were working on appointments but it shouldn't be too long and we were welcomed to wait. We wait two whole hours just so when two clients got up and left to be told they didn't feel like doing anything else...which I understand but the artist could've been asked long before so we didn't have to waste our time. There was still 2 hours until they closed at that point. My partner wanted a simple and ~small~ 3 word piece... needless to say we called another place in the area and told them what happened and they immediately had a spot for us guaranteed, nicer service and completely different experience. So all I have to say is, go somewhere else...that respects your time like you try to respect theirs... You say "all day walk ins" I would assume that means until closing time... read more

The staff here is great. The artists are amazing as well. They do take walk ins but I would recommend making an appointment so you are sure to get seen. From the time I called in to the time I left I didn't feel welcomed. The lady at the counter seemed to think every idea I had for my tattoo wouldn't work even though it was simple text. Not to mention the prices, they wanted to change me by the piece because it would have taken between 30-60 minutes for one of them. Instead they wanted to charge me $300+. I went to trilogy tattoo after walking out and I am now back St trilogy for my 3rd and 4th tattoo. Trilogy is 1.1 miles away and I rate them 100/100. read more

So my husband and I went in for matching tattoos as walkins. The front desk person was super nice and helpful it took a little over an hour to actually get pulled back for our tattoos (but thats expected as walk-ins). The artists came and talked to us to make sure we were on the same page. They prepared everything in front of us including unwrapping the needles and talked us through what was going to happen a little. (Neither of us have prior tattoos. So unprofessional! Went in as a walk-in after calling and telling the girl on the phone what we wanted, the girl at the front desk drew up the tattoo, & told us the wait would be 30 - 45 minutes. After waiting an hour, she came back and told us the artist didn't want to do the tattoos we wanted, a few letters on our fingers. I asked why they didn't tell us that before making us wait an hour and got no decent response. Won't go back to Ghost Ship even if they offered a free tattoo. read more

I could have sworn this place used to have a different name several years ago, but according to the address, this is the place. Don't come here. The people sit around and smoke pot in the back and then come out to tattoo you thinking that's ok? Sorry, but I wouldn't want someone whose high and incompetent tattooing my body permanently. The artist was rude as well. I kept telling him to do a small design, but he brought out something very large sized for something that was just going on the hip. Ridiculously overpriced. I paid $115 for a tattoo that's 2 colors (black outline and green filled in), and is no bigger than the size of 2 quarters. Never again. read more

Great tattoo, poor service. I spoke to Jude as a walk in and he drew up a design and tattooed my first session the next day. The second session was two weeks later. The tattoo is beautiful but I would not recommend him based on what he said and the way he acted. Both visits he made racist and homophobic comments which made me very uncomfortable and were really inappropriate. During second session my boyfriend was looking at portfolios because he was interested in getting work done here and Jude told him not to touch the portfolios. Then when we went to sit down for my session he told my boyfriend "I don't need you for this." My boyfriend asked "I can't sit with my girlfriend while she gets tattooed?" And Jude said "No." During both sessions there were people sitting with someone while they were tattooed. My boyfriend left to find something to do and Jude once again made racist comments and I was honestly uncomfortable especially with what just transpired concerning my boyfriend. In the end, Jude gave me an amazing tattoo, and I was planning on going back to him for more but will not do so because he makes me uncomfortable and is rude. He lost two peoples business that day. read more

Went in for the consultation on Tuesday and set the appointment for today (Friday) for my daughter's first tattoo. The young lady (who's name I've unfortunately forgotten) was extremely nice and knowledgeable; answered all of our questions with a smile and made sure to explain EVERYTHING to us. I was reading some of the other reviews about unprofessional ladies at the first desk, I for one have spoken to a couple different ladies in person or over the phone and they have both been nothing but nice and friendly. HAHA - love the two bad reviews on here they couldn't be more off pitch and incorrect! I've been to more than several establishments from VA to FL to CA to MD to DE to NC and even HI for ink..... These guys have more talented artists and even more so, better completed pieces than ANYWHERE else I've been. I've been to the place mentioned by someone else on here complaining too - and they have you do 4-5 visits at $400-$500 per visit there.... At Ghost Ship, they can do better in one sitting than what they do at "the other place" in FOUR sittings..... If you think they are rude, than consider your approach..... might just be you. I've watched countless potential clients walk through their doors while being worked on and I've seen a class act service from "the lady up front" to the guys in the back. AS an EXPERIENCED canvas, I'd say go here ahead of time with what you want in hand, talk to an artist (after you browse the portfolios) and set an appointment. AS with anywhere that has exceptional artists, you may have to wait a couple months for an appointment. Chances are if you get walk in appointments every time you go to your artist - you're either extremely lucky, or no one wants to go there! Supply and demand peeps. Go here! CLASS act, amazing above average art for everyone. I recommend ALL of the artists here. There interns are better than most veterans! read more

I stopped in a few weeks ago to speak to someone about an idea I had and spoke with a really great gentleman who was happy to answer my questions. I was impressed with the portfolios on display. When I was ready to get work done, I knew they took walk-ins, and was prepared for a wait. I called first, asking if there was a wait for walk-in and approximately how long, as I am right down the street. A very unfriendly woman barked "First come, first serve!" into the phone. I understand that, I was just asking if there were 20 people waiting in front of me, I would just make an appointment. But she hung up. So...thinking maybe it was just hectic, I'll go down and see about the wait, because like I said, I'm just a couple miles down the road. If the wait is too long, I'll just make an appointment. I walk in and am, at first, ignored while aforementioned unfriendly woman surfs on the net, despite the doorbell announcing that I came in. If she would have bothered to even turn around and look at me with a smile and say "Just one moment..." or something to that extent, I would have been cool with it. But...nope. So I stood there being ignored for a bit. Then, she turned around, no smile or greeting, just something to the effect of "What can I do for you?". I asked about the wait for a walk-in. She said there were a few people ahead of me. Ok, that's cool, I asked if she could give me a ballpark. An hour? 3 hours? Her response was "Oh, I don't know." I said again "Just a ballpark estimate?" to which she replied that she would have no way of knowing. I just stared at her for a minute. I would have been totally satisfied if she even acted like she cared. Had she said "I'm not sure, but let me just see what we hve going and I'll get back to you." or something to that effect. Not just essentially a verbal shrug and back to surfing the net. I can't say I've ever had this kind of answer before at ANY shop I've ever been to in 5 different states. I get it that she can't pin down exactly but there is a huge difference if I am waiting for 4 people to get their boyfriend's initals or if I'm waiting for 4 people to get sleeves. So, needless to say, I left. I would have given this one star but the first guy I talked to was really nice and really answered any questions I had about the artists and their styles. read more
