I was introduced to the artist, Tippo, who I later learned is the renowned "Tatman Tippo." He is a Miami legend and has quickly built a great reputation in Virginia! We immediately hit it off and after discussing the tattoo I wanted, we agreed on a price and set an appointment for the next day. The session itself was outstanding. Tippo had refined the artwork and prepared several sizes for me to choose from. The tattoo took about four hours, and he was a true professional throughout the process--putting down smooth, clean lines and being a great conversationalist. It was an excellent experience from start to finish. If you are in the Portsmouth area and looking for high-quality work, I can't recommend Tatman Tippo and Blue Horseshoe Tattoo enough. The experience, artwork, and price were all fantastic. I will definitely be back for more work on my future trips!

No parallel parking, no wondering if your back is sticking out on a busy road. I like that. The interior is what I imagine they looked like back in the olden days. Lots of sailor Jerry wall art. Very cool. Walked in and went straight back to my artist, Chris (Instagram: chris_h_art_ink). He started on my bicep back in 2016, added my flowers in 2024, and my most recent piece done yesterday, 2026. His work is simply incredible. I am constantly getting compliments about my tattoos from how colorful and vibrant they are (even after having them for years) to how detailed and realistic they look. Chris is a very relaxed guy. I'm actually comfortable around him to the point where I feel like I can speak up to ask questions and no matter how silly the question may feel to me, I don't feel ridiculed. My most recent tattoo, he asked my thoughts on what he drew up. I mentioned I had a certain vision I was hoping for and he effortlessly made changes to the tattoo stencil to meet my wants. We've pretty much finished the outer part of my arm, and I can't wait to finish the underside of my half sleeve. The only con I had was that their stations are pretty close. The other artist was tattooing a young man who had his dad accompanying him. The dad could have been a motivational speaker as he was SO LOUD, and barely came up to take a breath. He never ran out of topics and I felt drained from listening to that for roughly 3 hours lol. Even my husband was telling me how this guy was louder than the music playing in the shop, and there were only 6 of us in there. Overall, clean studio, great vibes, gorgeous tattoos. Book with Chris!

She said she would get an artist to come speak to me about my request. I wanted a basic cross, nothing fancy with the Angel numbers 11:11. I didn't have a design in mind, but I knew what I wanted. So I was introduced to Joe the artist that would work with me, and my tattoo needs. Joe was mild manners and accommodating. After telling him what I want he pulled out the tablet to give me visuals. Within 10seconds Joe nailed exactly what I wanted. Quality I sat with Joe, was offered water and confirmed placement of the tattoo and boom, the whole thing took about 20mins and I was done. He did exactly what I wanted to do without me knowing what I wanted. The quality of the tattoo was great and I love the font of the numbers. Vibe It's been a minute since I've been in a tattoo parlor but it was way more inviting than past places I've been, also very will lit and open. All employees were open to conversation and very friendly. My tattoo was $150, which is the minimum price for tattoos. However, there are some things I didn't enjoy of my first experience at Ocean Mystique's. First off, after signing all the paperwork and paying for the tattoo, the woman at the front with the pink hair mentioned Monday's and Tuesday's weren't so busy and told me it'll be about a 30-40 minute wait. Fine, no big deal. That 30-40 minute wait turned out to be almost an hour. Then the pricing. $200 for just line work and not even one hour's work is pretty steep. My tattoo design was just line work, no coloring, no shading and they charged me two bills. I will give props to the artist though, the man's a professional. Tattoo came out great and I really like it. Though I don't see myself coming back for more.
