I came in with some art I found on Pinterest, but thought it would be nice to give her some creative freedom too. She came up with a small ghost for my wrist -- and I loved it instantly. Over the past week, I've gotten so many compliments on it. Turns out that I love it wayyyy more than my initial line wraparound! She made the process so smooth, gave great aftercare advice, and was just such a vibe the whole time. Huge shoutout to her, she does amazing work! We couldn't finish the other flowers as we ran out of time, but he didn't leave it incomplete. I messaged him halfway through the next week with a question about the healing process. He answered my questions thoroughly, and then mentioned he had an opening the following Saturday to finish up the tattoo if I wanted, and of course I took the opportunity. He finished my tattoo up with a beautiful arrangement of gladiolus! He didn't block it off either, so if I want to add more, I could (most definitely will!). He listened to my requests of no harsh black outlines and that I wanted it in the same manner of my previous 8 year tattoo. He asked what colors I was thinking and went from there. Definitely trust the process. I am beyond thrilled with the work. Chris was really nice and kind, and very realistic and practical about the whole process from booking to aftercare. The shop has great vibes and it's very calm. The decor is fun and whimsical, the tattoo area is spaced out nicely, and you can watch them clean the areas up after they're done so you know it's clean. I waited for about an hour since there were a few people ahead of me but Oli was absolutely amazing! She changed out my jewelry and re-pierced my ear with ease! She explained the healing process and I love how knowledgeable she was! We had the best time laughing and vibing to her music. I left out of the shop feeling like I made a new friend! I'll admit, when I first looked at my artist's portfolio (Matte Midnight), I was more than a little skeptical... This man does BEAUTIFUL traditional (read: bold lines, bold colors), but I wanted fine line with only a little black and gray shading, and am a wimp when it comes to pain. He took his time getting my stencil exactly how I wanted it (minor changes, but still, changes), listened to what I envisioned, and gave quality advice (sizing, placement, etc). LET ME TELL YOU... I would go back to Matt in a HEARTBEAT! I hardly felt him at all, and almost fell asleep on the table. I had almost no bleeding after, and my skin was only mildly red. If I didn't know better, I'd think he drew it on with a pen, and covered with T-derm to seal it in. ;) I wholeheartedly recommend Whiskey River AND Matt!

The lines have been fading from my first session so he touched them up, and now the lines faded AGAIN after the second session. I have 7 tattoos for 6 + years and NONE of them have faded except this shitty ass tattoo from Lorin. Adding on to that, Lorin took it upon himself to give me veins on a hibiscus flower and disregarded what I specifically told him. I showed him a picture, explained multiple times I wanted a bright purple full color fill in and instead he put blue mixed with red and purple as veins not even a full color fill in he just put straight ass veins. How can i be more fucking clear? I am so livid I am going somewhere else to get this ballsack ass flower corrected. Do not bother me with that bullshit excuse " but you didn't say anything". I spent $1,400 for a 4 hour session in pain with blood covering my whole arm so no I couldn't fucking see my tattoo when the session was over because it was nothing but blood and ink. The artist took forever to prep because he had to go smoke a cigarette in between clients. We did not like what we got so we ended up waiting on an artist we admired from another shop to finish our ring finger tattoos. I believe every artist has their own speciality that they should stick to. Artists should be honest when they don't think they can achieve a client's vision.

I called Ocean Mystique and the lady was very nice, gave me the price of the tattoo, which was $35 for basic jewelry, but at the time I called, the piercer wasn't there. She did mention that he should be in some time in the early evening so I was a little disappointed but once I did call back around 5-6pm, he had made it to the shop. As soon as we walked in, they were was a rope at the front door not allowing us to continue in the shop until we had our temperature checked and sanitized our hands. I appreciated the extra level of care to ensure we weren't feverish or experiencing any virus symptoms. I really liked how clean the tattoo shop was, I was very impressed. The piercer went over the piercing guidelines and after care and was all set up for me in the matter of minutes. Once I was in the room, I did ask him if he minded me taking pictures or recording and he did so I respected that and did not record or take any pics of me getting pierced. The naval piercing was over in less than 2 mins. He made it quick, easy and fairly painless. I chose this place because they provided the cheapest naval piercings in the area and I'm glad I did. *Just FYI, if you "Check In" to this place on Yelp, a $10 off coupon might pop up but they set up that coupon a while ago and it's not valid anymore. I actually checked in on Yelp after I paid, alerted them of the coupon and they mentioned they were going to remove it.
