I first have to say this place EARNS 5 stars plus for the exceptional service from Tomawi and her manager Marquise Martin. Let's not forget the great service from Colt as well. These three make a great dream team dream team highlighting high performance and synergy. I first off want to apologize to them for the rudeness they had to face on Friday night. A group of women and a ma or two came to enjoy themselves and had the audacity to state in a rude and disrespectful manner, "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?" " I MAKE XXXX AMOUNT OF MONEY AND YOU WILL SERVE ME NOW" attitude. I had never seen this type of behavior in person. I've heard about it but never seen it. That night, I saw it. They felt the need to make a scene, demand to speak to a manager and demanded FASTER than FAST service before anyone else. It was upsetting. No servers deserve to be treated with such disrespect. These ladies were very disrespectful. I did snap a couple of pics of them. Beware!!!! Shewwww them off. They believe they are above everyone. Tomawi gave some great recommendations. We loved the fries, drinks and shrimp. It was my hubbys first time at Whiskey Reds. We request Orange Hill and have gone to the Burbank restaurant's owned by the same company. We definitely loved Tomawi. She was very quick, funny, sweet and thorough. Let's not forget again that Colt was just as awesome. He was busy serving others as well. Now... Marquise Martin..... He is a true leader. He went over and beyond and stepped up and stepped in to make sure his staff were well equipped and assisted during the crazy rush. He didn't just leave them to fail. Even when things were running smoothly, he continued to cheer them on and work as a team with them. This was amazing. I can count on one hand, how many Managers and Supervisors do this. It gave us a great feeling and made us want to come here more and more and spend our money here. This type of management makes restaurants great. The place itself is clean. Delicious food. Clean. Parking is a bit tricky. I got a ticket and it makes no sense why. It said not following posted fishing pictures. We arrived on a beautiful Sunday and wanted to eat with a beautiful view. The restaurant has inside and outdoor sitting. We sat down and everything is horrible besides the waitresses personality!!!! Food: they got my son's (he has special needs) fries wrong and they didn't even bring it out until 20-30mins later. I asked for a well done and it was absolutely not well done. They didn't bring some of the food we ordered and they got our drinks wrong. Service: was horrible!!! Our table was filled with dirty plates and no one to come by to take them, check on us, or refill our drinks. I looked around and other people's tables were in the same situation. I did complain to the manager and she said "it's Easter weekend" so I replied back "I understand and in the future during busy weekends it's important to have a thought out plan and a back up plan" This restaurant has so much potential to grow but it's struggling....the manager was kind enough to understand my frustration and honored a few things off our check! We were looking for a brunch spot close to water and found this place. It actually has a really nice view and a good amount of outdoor seating. We ordered the crab cake Benedict which was great. We also ordered the kids' smash burger which came with fries and juice. The only area of improvement was the service. Our server wasn't very friendly which took away from the experience a bit. Also for the kids' juice, we ordered apple but were given orange instead because apple wasn't available. It would have been better to be asked for an alternative rather than having it chosen for us especially since little kids can be picky about what they want. read more

I remember having brunch here a few times years ago when it used to be Shanghai Red. I can't even tell you the last time before it becoming Whiskey Red. I'm not sure if they're affiliated or it's completely different. Anyhow, there's plenty of parking in the massive lot. Paid of course but the rates are quite affordable. Hourly or full day for 8.00. Quite reasonable for paid parking. It's along the Fisherman Village in the marina. The views are quite nice from the patio. Our group stopped by for a drink while waiting for the escape room nearby. It was just after 12 which it didn't seemed that busy. And it was a Sunday. We popped into the bar area which there was a lady that was working. She was quite sweet and the only one making the cocktails. There was a few of us so we knew that'll it'll take some time being only one person was behind the bar. It was fine, they had the game on for the boys. Well, then someone else came to help out. Let's just say they didn't seemed interested and a bit bothered by us. We ordered some fries to munch on with the cocktails but when they arrived it was slightly warm, basically cold. We asked if they could be replace for a hot batch which they did take back. When the new order came out, it wasn't just me but two other friends did sense the attitude from the other guy. It was somewhat of here's your fries straight out of his hand. Felt like he just threw it to us. Three of us all felt the vibe so it wasn't just me. I don't know if he was bothered by us or that we asked for another batch. Either way, the attitude was there which left a sour taste for us. This being the first time since the old name, it wasn't a memorable experience. Let's start with parking. Located in Fisherman's Village. The lot is shated with all the other businesses. There is no longer staffed gates and instead Pay Stations. You need go to a Pay Station first, put your license number, select the length of time, and then pay. You get a ticket and then have to walk iit back to your car and dispay inside on your dash. Unfortunately, the Pay Stations aren't very visible. It was pouring down rain and glad I decided to drive around (vs walk) to find one! Parking price was very reasonable, $4 for 4 hours. Whiskey Red's is a popular venue for private events (weddings, meetings, etc.). It is located on the water with nice marina views. Staff was very nice and friendly, however, for the event today, not sure if they were understaffed or just issues getting food out of the kitchen. Our entrees came out about 20-25 minutes apart at the same table! They were serving dessert while some were still.being served their main dish! One person at our table never received her entree and finally told a server just to box one up to go! Two of us never received our desserts! This is a restaurant and I would expect with a private event, the food should be better than a hotelor country club banquet type of dining. Food was a big disapointment. Appetizers (egg rolls and coconut shrimp) reminded me of the frozen ones from Costco, definitely not house made! Salad was decent. Rolls were King's Hawaiian Rolls! Entrees were okay. I can't speak for the dessert as I never received one. I attend several private events each month (three this week). I definitely would not recommend this venue for a private event! read more

Lovely restaurant at the marina on a Sunday evening. We sat outside as we had our little dog with us for an early dinner. Intimate atmosphere next to a fire pit and very quiet. I had the cod - well done accompanied with wild rice and broccolini; my dinner partner had the steak with mashed potatoes. Both delicious and filling - portions were just right for dinner. Another disappointment - practically nothing has changed here in 4 years. My family and I were there in the morning. They did seat us right away, though, and I have no complaints about the waitress's performance. She's the main reason I'm giving it 1 star (unfortunately, I can't give it less). The food leaves much to be desired. The menu is very limited, and the quality isn't up to par. The management seems to not care about people. The furniture looks like it came from a junkyard. It looks like the roof is about to collapse - you can see the bare logs. Basically, a waste of time and a ruined mood for the whole day. I left this restaurant feeling unseen and uncomfortable. The bartender consistently approached and checked on Caucasians customers while completely overlooking our table. We never asked if we wanted another round of drinks or needed anything else, despite waiting for a long time. Good service should make every customer feel welcome and acknowledged, regardless of race or background. We had high hopes for dinner...and the seat at the window had a beautiful view. However, the hostess did not appear for at least 5 minutes when we arrived (it was not busy). Once seated, the table was dirty (water rings and crumbs), the service was very VERY slow, my french fries were cold, the lobster roll was bland and the squished bug on the inside of the window near my face was gross. I'm in California visiting and some friends took me to Whiskey Reds. This used to be a regular spot for us years ago and I've always loved it. I've taken my family, gone with friends, and even though I don't live in town anymore, it's still just as good as I remember. We went for brunch and even though it's actually a long drive, it's one of those places you don't mind making the trip for. The view of the water was beautiful, the weather was a little cold and the endless mimosas were perfect. The food was absolutely delicious. They never disappoint. We came for the Thanksgiving Experience, and what a delicious experience! We started with the appetizer platters for the table, then our individual main courses, and ended with a beautiful arrangement of desserts for the table. The cranberry grilled cheese sandwich was my favorite appetizer, and my 2 little girls and I all LOVED the blueberry panna cotta. I had the turkey entree for my main course but was too focused on eating to get a picture of it. I did get a picture of the kids turkey entree though. It was delicious. I had a 12:45 reservation and we were seated promptly, but that's where the service ended. No one ever came to our table. We never saw a server, were never offered water, and were never acknowledged at all. The restaurant wasn't even full when we arrived. A large party was seated after us and they immediately had a server attending to them, while we continued to sit there completely ignored. After waiting far too long with zero acknowledgment, we decided to leave. Even on our way out, there was no one around to speak to about the experience. We had a friend in from out of town. I used Open Table to make reservations for yesterday at 6:30pm....I changed the reservations to 7:00pm. Both times received notifications and everything was set. We arrived at 6:55pm...walked in, only to be told they close at 7pm on Sundays. We decided to try this restaurant out since it was DineLA. This restaurant is right on the water and gorgeous no matter what seat you have. We got there and they said it was going to be a 15-20-minute wait due to being short staffed. The restaurant was nice, clean, and welcoming. We sat down and we had the pleasure of having Richard as our server. Before Richard came to our table we saw him helping at least 6 other tables and he diligently made sure everyone was okay with a smile on his face. Onto the food, we ordered fried calamari, crispy brussels sprouts, lump crab & shrimp cake, smash burger, and butter poached lobster roll (both warm and cold). I have to say all of the items that we ordered were delicious! I really enjoyed the crab cake with the corn because it added a nice touch. The lobster roll was my favorite because we were able to order it hot or cold and I prefer my lobster roll when it is hot. This particular lobster roll you can taste the butter on the toast and it was amazing! The smash burger was also good with the secret sauce and the fries were extra crispy. I will definitely be coming back here to try other items on their main menu, and I will be requesting Richard again because he was so nice and helpful. A few years ago I had a birthday meal with my family and it was awful. I thought it might have improved and booked my birthday meal yesterday with them again (big mistake!). At the same time they had 2 large parties so I hope the food was better for them. We only ate a small amount of the food we ordered- it was lukewarm, potatoes tasted as if they had been re-heated many times, I had a crab cake that was mostly filler, my daughter in law had a lobster sandwich and it was all dried out. All the food was extremely salty as well. I also had a clam chowder soup and it had been cooked too much so the clam bits were like eating rubber. Another comment I want to mention is that we often came for happy hour and apparently they now have a new manager-at least that is what the server said - and we can only sit outside in a designated area but the tables and chairs are low and we are seniors so we won't be able to come for that any more. This is all very discouraging especially as I joined their loyalty program a long time ago. read more

One of my neighborhood favorites! Gorgeous outdoor patio seating. Their happy hour is one of the best in LA, I love their food but their drinks are better. Pretty average American grill fare, with modern resort vibes. I bring out of town visitors here often to show them a local spot. Servers are very kind, but the kitchen or bar team seems to get backed up easily. Wouldn't go here for big groups I guess or with time constraints. read more

Special thanks to our server Mayte for going above and beyond in customer service. My wife and I celebrated our 15th anniversary here and Mayte recommended some of the most delicious dishes & drinks. The drinks menu is simply amazing. We requested to sit at the tables next to the glass to enjoy a beautiful sunset while we sat and enjoyed our tasty drinks. We did the all day $35 menu and it was well worth it. We enjoyed a fried calamari & lump crab & shrimp cake to start with a Paid Vacation & One in a Melon drink. You know, the food and service is a hit or miss these days so I go for the ambiance and drinks so I'm not disappointed. The view from the back patio is stunning and I love to sit by the fireplace at dusk to watch a sunset. Every once in a while I'll get an appetizer or two but nothing too fancy. Best happy hr food menu. View is a pleasure to see the bustle of the marina boating community seals and bird life not in the wetlands. Not too many TV's but helpful staff when something important is on and you'd like to watch it. Fireplace, koi ponds, and a much better place to go than the warehouse restaurant, which attempts a similar experience but doesn't really have the spacious clean cozyness of Red's. Also a spot for private parties and holiday celebrations they provide. Very friendly hostesses and Waiting staff. read more

Because we were there for happy hour they changed the rules AGAIN (new manager )and happy hour is no longer served in the large outside (canopied) area but instead in the smaller outside area just outside the bar area. It was a very unpleasant since there were many people standing around seated customers that were loud making it hard to have a conversation. We notice when we left the outside (canopied area ) had only about 4 customers. This was not a good utilization of space. Plus people were also crammed into the bar area. Good waiter, nice location, and food is tasty. Firecracker shrimp were a standout. The reason they get 2 stars is because the $38 seafood linguine came with 3 shrimp, and about 3 bites of pasta. It looked like they ran out and threw a half hazard scoop on a plate and called it a day. We ultimately complained and they sent us home with another one, but it begs the question of why this ever got sent out of the kitchen in the first place. This isn't a fine dining restaurant with tasting portions. It's an American restaurant serving pasta. The photo is attached below, use the fork for reference. Glad they attempted to make it right, but offering to make another one or send us home with another one doesn't fix the problem. We tried this restaurant because it was on the water and the pics looked good. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived and parked and the area leading into the restaurant was interesting and charming. We sat outside and they have fireplaces to keep the temperature good. Our waitress was sweet but did not know anything about where the oysters were from other than East coast or Pacific and when she asked, the person who would know was gone. So we tried some of both, along with cups of clam chowder. The chowder was great and the cup was a good size, a little bit more like a bowl. Unfortunately, the oysters were terrible. Guessing based on appearance, the Pacific ones were thin and very fishy and the East Coast ones were not what I have generally seen for East Coast oysters. We didn't eat them all, they were that bad. Would I go back? Yes, I think so, but I definitely would not order oysters! My last comment would be that the waitress noticed we didn't finish the oysters but never asked if anything was wrong. I'm not a complainer because I got what I ordered, but better restaurants notice and try to make it right. So reading my review this would be more like a 3 and 1/2 star place. But ambiance can make up a lot for me. I would give this restaurant a second chance someday if I lived here. read more

Prices are what you would expect for an on the water restaraunt and there is the issue. One person in our party ordered the crispy Mahi Mahi Tacos and I am about 99% sure we were served frozen breaded fish sticks in the Taco. They had a perfect rectangular shape and a thin breaded layer that would separate from each piece like a glove. I have nothing against frozen fish sticks, I just don't expect to be served them when paying LA restaurant prices. The rest of the food was pretty good. read more

Marina Del Rey has some beautiful locations to sit, eat and enjoy the views. Thought we'd try the happy hour as the prices (especially the $1 oysters sounded great). Had a reservation for 7 but the patio facing the water was too packed so we sat outside closer to the parking lot which was actually a nice spot. We were told to order drinks inside which meant to wait in line for almost 10 minutes because of other customers and total confusion by the staff. They were out of oysters and the calamari was super salty and gross. The drink selection was pretty lame even for a happy hour. There was tons of staff there but everyone seemed out of sorts and not sure what to do. We saw a couple leave and there table was not cleaned for over an hour (and there were other tables left as well). Why a place like this that should be a cash machine for locals and tourists closes at 8pm I'm not sure but probably a good thing since it's a hot mess there.
