F & M Fire Protection Service - The front of F&M Fire Protection

Got tuned into the need to check my fire extinguishers after lately seeing so many deaths and…read moredestruction by house fires in the news. Without an education about inspection or servicing my extinguishers, I just assumed the units would work when needed and I would know instinctively how to use them. So, 'attending to my home's extinguishers' never made it to my to-do list. After getting a brief education on youTube, I learned how critical fire extinguishers are to home safety. Since Fire Departments are so enthusiastic about smoke, carbon dioxide, and radon detectors, I was disappointed to learn that not only do they not execute recharging and inspections but the service rep had no referrals. Recommendations to homeowners regarding fire extinguisher protocols, inspection, and usage should rate the same attention as their smoke detector promotions. Workshops on when and how to use fire extinguishers should be standard in our schools, hospitals, airports, businesses, home owner insurer inspections, etc as well as part of our Fire Departments' community education programming, locally and nationwide. Think about the potential exposures to fire during and after impacts on structures by extreme weather events. Moreover, so many vehicles have recalls with warnings of spontaneous combustion while driving and/or when garaged. Even airplanes, electric vehicles, and electronic devices have increased instances of battery fires and explosions. Domestic airlines just established a mandate that all battery packs and battery-driven devices be displayed and NOT packed in cargo OR in overhead cabin luggage due to recent fires. Nonetheless, my online search turned up F&M FIRE PROTECTION with a five star rating for inspection and recharging fire extinguishers, among other services. This company should be on the Fire Department's resource list for local fire extinguisher services. Though I figured my units were too old to recharge, rather than default to an online purchase, my choice to visit in person was the right move. This location is a great value if you are in the market for fire extinguishers, inspection, and/or recharging. After shopping by browser, I found per unit rates to be same as online with the added value of receiving a full understanding of related data points you may not have considered. Though the building is tucked away in an industrial park, GPS can get you there without a hitch. Worth the side trip to be struck by the high-spirited, personable attention you get, delivered by a light-hearted team with a gallery of antiques on display.

We personally know of three families that lost homes to fire and I personally lost my childhood home in Florida to a fire. With two little ones under the ages of 2.5 we knew we wanted to have a fire sprinkler system installed. We hired Metropolitan to retrofit the house. Of course this process is tedious and not fun for anyone but Victor and his team made the process much more palatable and stress free. They were very responsive (victor always answered texts any day or time of the week), courteous of our home, and extremely efficient. We got plans and permitting within 2 weeks of signing the contract (would've been sooner but we had some issues with architecture and I wanted to meet with a county inspector first). It took his team exactly two weeks to finish the first stage of the retrofit. We literally have over 100 holes in our drywall and his team only hit one wire which they were profusely sorry about (but we had expected more snafus and thankfully that was the only one). Inspection was passed Friday. Now we have to repair all the drywall, paint, and his team will return to put the concealed heads on all and for final inspection. We aren't quite at the finish line yet but am hopeful they will finish this process as well as they began. Update as of April 2017 - we had a few issues at time of inspection because the tech in charge was on vacation (mind you inspection was in between Christmas and New Years) so this was frustrating and we dialed the first inspection but passed the second. Inspector was frustrated they were having me manage and a tech wasn't there for first one. Knocking one star off for this part of the experience...need to follow a project through from start to finish. Also had one minor issue in the basement where a head was leaking but they were very prompt in fixing it. Overall I would definitely recommend this company!

I had the temperature on the hot water to max and we had to run the water in the upstair faucets to get what little hot water for the shower. The assistant who answered the phone was friendly. My appointment was scheduled on my date requested from 12-4pm. The plumber (I think his name was Alan, sorry if that's not correct) arrived at 12:10pm. He diagnosed my issue within minutes. Unfortunately, he did not have the part. He said he could go get it but travel time would be charged (understandable) and that if I could wait till the next morning he could pick up the part on his way and I would not have to pay the extra time. I agreed. He said he could be here around 9am. He arrived at 9:03am. He had the part installed under an hour. I was only charged for 1 hour plus parts. He stuck around 10-15 minutes to ensure it fixed the issue. A week later, I still have hot water. Now, hopefully, my water and gas bill be lower again.
