It may be a bit premature for this review but I will go back and edit once the job is completed if anything changes. We purchased a 14 year old 10,000 square foot home back in September. We personally know of three families that lost homes to fire and I personally lost my childhood home in Florida to a fire. With two little ones under the ages of 2.5 we knew we wanted to have a fire sprinkler system installed. We hired Metropolitan to retrofit the house. Of course this process is tedious and not fun for anyone but Victor and his team made the process much more palatable and stress free. They were very responsive (victor always answered texts any day or time of the week), courteous of our home, and extremely efficient. We got plans and permitting within 2 weeks of signing the contract (would've been sooner but we had some issues with architecture and I wanted to meet with a county inspector first). It took his team exactly two weeks to finish the first stage of the retrofit. We literally have over 100 holes in our drywall and his team only hit one wire which they were profusely sorry about (but we had expected more snafus and thankfully that was the only one). Inspection was passed Friday. Now we have to repair all the drywall, paint, and his team will return to put the concealed heads on all and for final inspection. We aren't quite at the finish line yet but am hopeful they will finish this process as well as they began. Update as of April 2017 - we had a few issues at time of inspection because the tech in charge was on vacation (mind you inspection was in between Christmas and New Years) so this was frustrating and we dialed the first inspection but passed the second. Inspector was frustrated they were having me manage and a tech wasn't there for first one. Knocking one star off for this part of the experience...need to follow a project through from start to finish. Also had one minor issue in the basement where a head was leaking but they were very prompt in fixing it. Overall I would definitely recommend this company! read more

I am a newbie to homeownership and like all new homeowners, you do renovations. I had a contractor that put up a wall, dividing my room and leaving me a new utility room with no sprinkler. After talking to plumbers, I was told to seek out a fire sprinkler company. Metropolitan Fire Protection was great from the get go on responsiveness, price and service. They promptly respond to emails. They explained their cost estimates and discussed permit requirements. They explained the process and answered all of my questions. Their repairman was quick in removing the firehead and installing a new one. They also charged a lot less than their estimate. There are not a lot of fire sprinkler companies that do residential work. I recommend them. read more

I reached out to them to see if they could fix my leaking water pump that goes to my sprinkler system. I spoke with Karen and she asked me to send pictures which I did. I had to keep emailing her to see if they received them. When she responded she said they could fix it but needed some more pictures of the full unit. I sent those. I repeatedly asked if she received them. ***CRICKETS*** It's been almost 2 weeks since we first spoke. We've had to shut off water to our sprinkler system. God forbid anything happens. read more

I have hired metropolitan for my retro-fit residential project. Wow, do I regret making that commitment. I have dealt with Megan and Victor on sales and project management and Bert, who is supposed to be my management escalation. Suffice it to say that Bert is not a management escalation. I'm spending over 10k on this project, and he doesn't return phone calls, even after his team is a nearly a month behind the predicted install date. At the time of purchase mid December, I was told that in order to hit me desired install date, I needed to get them my building/architecture plans a week before Christmas. Well those plans were delivered by me on schedule. Then after New Years, I called to check on the status-only to learn that my plans were then still on Victor's desk. Apparently, both Bert and Victor took a long Christmas vacation, and opted not to tell one another, or me. My early Jan call was when Victor (supposedly the project manager) apparently realized the project has not moved at all in weeks. Victor then says he'll expedite. That was two weeks ago-and today I've just learned moments ago that the plans have not yet been submitted to the county. So for 11 days after the walk through and design was finalized, and he's already weeks late; he's taken eleven days to submit it to the county. The irony of all this is that I honestly don't believe that Metropolitan is under the impression these failings are inappropriate. I get the impression that the staff I have interfaced with, do not feel compelled to remedy the failing w a better level of client service; much less make up lost ground on the missed completion date. I'll repost as this project finishes, but if this beginning and middle is any indication-I would definitely not recommend Metropolitan. read more

This company does not do quality work. I would stay far away if you want a job well done.. We built a new home in Annapolis, and this was by far the worst sub-contractor. Huge gaps between the ceiling, and the bottom of the concealed sprinkler head. They claimed the manufacturer provided for a 1/8" gap. None of ours are even close to that. Also, cockeyed, bent heads, etc. etc. When we complained, they sent someone out to make adjustments. This only provided for more bent sprinkler heads, grease markings on the ceiling, cut drywall, and chipped paint. We go in new homes in our neighborhood, and see properly installed sprinkler heads that look great. Definitely, a poor choice by our general contractor that we will have to look at over and over. read more
