Menchie's Frozen Yogurt - my bowl of fat free banana & low fat pecan praline fro yo's, iced animal crackers & cool whip. Heaven in a bowl...and I LOVE self-serve!!!

I'm just now discovering the magic of do-it-yourself frozen yogurt shops, and Menchie's is yet…read moreanother amazing example of how delicious self-serve can be. I LOVE being able to get a million toppings or mix together 5 different fro yo flavors without dealing with the embarrassment of trying to explain everything to a confused ice cream server. Menchie's in Lima is small but super cute and clean on the inside and easy to understand: grab a bowl, fill it with whatever and however much you want, and then weigh it and pay (I believe the sign said 52 cents plus tax per ounce). I filled my cup with fat free banana fro yo (creamy and smooth with a nice subtle flavor) and some of the low fat pecan praline no sugar added fro yo (so good!). Both tasted great and were just as good as any ice cream I've had, so it's awesome that it's all fat free or at least low in fat. That helps, especially when you load it up at the buffet of fatty toppings they offer: crushed candy bars, cereals, marshmallows, chocolate out the wazoo, whip and several name brand syrups (they also have some fresh looking fruits to choose from, but where's the fun in that?!). I tried to keep mine simple and just got a few iced animal crackers (my favorite) and a huge mountain of Cool Whip on top. Tasted so good on a hot summer's day and the total for mine and my husband's huge sundaes was less than $9 and worth every single penny. So glad this little tasty gem is in Lima and we'll definitely be hitting them up regularly from now on!

I love their ice cream it really good and the people are super nice and sweet i would go back to…read morehave there ice cream again

The Met has a policy that your server gets to proudly wear a crown if their name is mentioned in a five star review. Love that policy!! Wear it proudly Ashely!! The Met is a unique building downtown Lima. It was built in the late 1880's and was originally home to the The Metropolitan Bank. It has since been morphed into a restaurant with very attractive original features. The wood floors and plaster ceilings...along with the attractive decor really enhance the dinning experience! The team here is very friendly, professional and welcoming. Ashley was outstanding. She hustled, knew her menu and had great recommendations. Ashley was very attentive and helped us enjoy the evening. I appreciated Liz stopping by and welcoming us. Liz shared lots of history and helped us appreciate the facility. The Met has a large food menu that has something for everyone. They have a large selection of beverages and specialty cocktails. All at reasonable prices. We started with a couple of Mule drinks. One was a designer St. Patrick's Day Mule and their specialty Met Mule. Both were very tasty, cool and refreshing . We started with the Focaccia bread appetizer. It had a lightly golden/chewing top with a soft and moist inside. Liz said that they make the bread fresh three times a day. The bread had a slight olive oil taste with a mild amount of Italian herbs. The soft whipped butter was a nice add. The side salad had lots of fresh spring greens. There was a few tasty tomatoes and lots of stronger tasting onions. The thin Parmesan cheese shreds were an excellent touch. The house ranch dressing was very smooth/light/creamy moderately thin with a mild ranch taste. My wife had the chicken bacon ranch flatbread. The crust was thin and crispy. She really liked the ranch house made sauce and how it accented the meat toppings. I had the Met Meatloaf which had an outstanding meat flavor. The meat was made with Italian sausage which had a slightly spicy kick. It was moist and tender to go along the beefy taste. The smooth red sauce on top was slightly sweet & spicy. It accented the meat nicely. The mashed potatoes were real with lumps, eyes and minute peel pieces. Very smooth and delicious! The grilled asparagus had a slight crisp to go along with the tender stalk. Not much seasoning detected...just a nice olive oil taste. Overall a fantastic dinner experience. We sat street level and watched the pedestrians come & go while enjoying the decor of this unique facility! The menu is large and the food and drinks are outstanding. A special trip to The Met in downtown Lima is worth a try!

We arrived at 11:30 and left at 2. They were nice to let us linger. Everything we had was terrific. Soups are made in-house. I'm thinking most all things on the very large menu were probably very good. They seem to care about the details. We also shared some ice cream cookie sundae concoction that was 5*. Metered parking on the street and there was a free lot but it was full. Meters were $2 for two hours. Nice staff and there were no staff shortages! Lilly our server was perfect. If we pass through again we will stop in! The bar area is exquisite.

Let me start by saying this. I love kewpee, I grew up eating…read morekewpee, my love for it is undying and will never change. I love going for lunch because they are quick and efficient and I never have issues. Until you enter the night shift. It has been this way for years. You're driving along, hungry and fat as hell. Also broke as hell. You remember where you can get cheap, good food. You change directions and start the journey there. You take the curve and pull into the parking lot narrowly avoiding getting t boned by the Lima crackies all while having to dodge the homeless and craters in the lot. You see the drive thru is behind the building so you know it's a short line. Your first thought, this must be a quick wait right? Absolutely, undeniably INCORRECT. When I tell you to have your wills written out before this, I mean it. Give the house to Susie, the car to Jeremy, and if you don't know who to give your stuff too, don't worry, you'll have all the time ever given to you to debate on it. For the love, take your hungry ass to McDonald's at night. Every. Single. Time. I come here at night and it's like everybody working is high on God knows what and have just worked a 12 hour shift prior. Zero customer service. You pull up to the speaker that somehow witnessed the first and the Second World War and made it out on top and get your order taken. (No hate toward the speaker, just the voices behind it) By the time your order is taken you're already behind on getting ready for tomorrow morning. Might as well call off work. Here's the cherry on top. You finally reach the window after multiple blood clots have formed in your legs from the wait that are slowly making their way toward your brain. Boom. The worker opens the window. Stares at you for a good while before saying your total, sounding utterly unsure. You hand them your card. They take a good look at it like they have never seen such thing before as they slip their greasy arm back in the window. Now you wait, wait some more, wait, before the window opens and they hand you the receipt and card back. Window shuts again. When it opens, they are normally talking to themselves while handing you your food and drinks. DO NOT MAKE EYE CONTACT. Then you tell them thank you. Pro tip- do not speak a word. It's like if they interact with you in the slightest Momma Kewpee will come from the back and blow their dome smooth off. Finally, you pull away with your food wondering if you missed Christmas. You park. Hungry asf. Open the bag. Fried upside down. Burger slopped in there. No napkins. No salt packets for they plain ass fries. Pie. With no sign of a fork. To top it all off? All of it is cold. They must expect you to eat your pie like a slice of pizza. I've never seen anything like it. You're gonna sit there and wallow and remember all the good times you came here during the day. Perfect staff. Perfect experience, perfect food. Then you'll look back at your sad ass food and wish you were at McDonald's because at least your food would be hot. All in all. And take what I say heavily. Avoid the night shift unless you have nothing to live for and no family to make it home to.
