Top marks! Got there right at opening and there was a bit of a line but nothing too bad. We grabbed…read morea pistachio croissant, a savory za'atar gruyere pastry, and a blueberry danish. All the pastry was delightfully flaky and appropriately filled. Pistachio croissant was dancing on the edge of being a bit too sweet but went very well with my latte. Latte and cappuccino were nothing to write home about, potentially underextracted as there wasn't too much flavor coming through. Totally inoffensive and wouldn't hesitate to get another espresso drink if we were grabbing pastries again. Nice quaint limited outdoor seating. Had a nice chat while we demolished our goods right out front. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff that knows how to move the line quickly!

We also got a mocha and a vanilla latte made with their house vanilla syrup. Both drinks were delicious. The pastries were quite tasty, our favorites were the balsamic, mozzarella and tomato, savory pastry, as well as both the berry and cream cheese pastry, and almond croissant. The housemaid vanilla are up in the vanilla latte had great flavor and was not overly sweet. They didn't have a variety of milk options or your coffee drinks. A small table outside in minimal seating inside makes this bakery best for takeout. Staff was friendly and efficient. When we came, but I could see how there may be a line of times based on how good the pastries were and how small the storefront space. As bonus points, the merch is super cute with the little wiener dog on it!

So yes, I fell for the social media hype and made my way to Yellow... only to be greeted by a line…read morethat looked like it required a boarding pass. Hard pass. I genuinely think social media has us all in a chokehold--one place goes viral and suddenly perfectly good spots nearby are just... ignored. Thankfully, I have zero FOMO, so I pivoted and walked into this place instead. Best decision. It was busy--don't get me wrong--but in a normal, "weekend brunch rush" kind of way. Not the "wait an hour to prove a point to Instagram" kind of chaos. We grabbed a cold brew, a pain suisse, and a croque monsieur. Everything was reasonably priced, and more importantly, everything looked (and tasted) ridiculously good. The backyard? Genuinely stunning. The kind of aesthetic that people think they're getting in those viral spots. We grabbed a couple of chairs, soaked it all in, and ended up having a really beautiful, relaxed brunch. They've got water stations, the staff is happy to walk you through the menu if you need it--just an overall easy, pleasant experience. Honestly, unless your main goal is to tell people you went to the Georgetown hotspot of the week, skip the hype and come here. If your goal is actually good food and a great vibe, this place delivers.

I can't recommend it enough. The pastries, bakery, and food are balanced healthy and nutritious. The attention to detail is immaculate and so well balanced. During brunch, Tatte is always bustling with customers from the diverse diaspora of life in DC, and the staff never fail to deliver under pressure. I am so grateful

2nd time I've visited a Tatte. First time was in Boston. Tatte is a very inviting modern bakery…read moreand cafe with mostly white and black decor. We went for a late Thursday breakfast (~9:30) and were able to find some seating but they were at 90%+ capacity. We crammed our group of four into a spot normally meant for 2-3 people. Seating is at a premium as there are people using the restaurant as a place to work out of because they serve coffee. It's a bit of an odd dynamic since people need to sit to eat and sometimes tables are occupied by laptops instead of dining patrons. The food: Lamb Meatball Shakshuka - I had the regular Shakshuka the first time visiting, since I wanted to try the original. Stewed tomatoes with eggs served with toast. I think the lamb is a nice upgrade since the meat cuts the acidity of the tomato, and there is just a lot of tomato. Strawberry & Raspberry Cheesecake Cup - this delivers exactly what I would want for a cheesecake in a cup. Cheesecake is in the middle of for texture between fluffy and very dense cheesecake. Sesame Latte - an interesting drink fusion - coffee with black sesame. I think this is fairly well balanced with it tasting a little like black sesame and a little like coffee. Pistachio and Ham & Cheese Croissants - we asked these to be heated prior to eating. I thought they were slightly crusty on the outside, inside was soft without much structure (a little flat). They were ok and I liked the Pistachio one better. Overall, a solid, clean and modern place to get a beverage or meal. They offer some unique items to make things interesting.
