I've been increasingly disappointed with Whidbey Coffee. I have called before to share feedback about the quality of the gluten-free items they sell, because they are often either underbaked or stale. I've even emailed letting them know that the gluten free items are not what they used to be. I decided to give them another try today and stopped in for one pink frosted sugar cookie. I was shocked when I was told it was $7. That already felt very overpriced, but then when I received it, the cookie was frozen. For that price, I expected a fresh, quality item -- not something frozen, especially after having previous concerns about their baked goods. Unfortunately, this was the final straw for me. But the barista was more interested in gossiping with her coworkers than paying attention to the order. Second - I will never come here for coffee again. The white coffee tasted like chemicals, hardly the robust nutty taste in white coffee. The cold foam seemed like she gave half effort and was just foamy milk? Not actual cold foam . Whenever I'm in the area and there's a Whidbey Coffee I always go. This one is a drive thru which is very convenient and also has inside seating. I enjoy the taste of their coffee which is hard for me to find up north. Service and vibes are pretty on par with other coffee spots. Love Whidbey Coffee! read more

What a great find! First time at a Whidbey Coffee, and this location was refreshingly unique for a coffee shop. Simple menu, lots of baked goods and sandwiches, and an impressive cafe space. The living wall makes for an intriguing focal point that draws you into the seating area. Plenty of seating, high ceilings making it feel very light and airy, and a contemporary gas fireplace to cozy up to. Lots of socializing, work, and studies getting done in this space! We ordered a strawberry and a mango smoothie and a Chai latte. All were delicious, my latte was nice and hot, and the smoothies were robust with flavor. Two unisex restrooms found inside. Service was friendly. Merch available too, love their rugged and made in the US mugs - wish they had more to choose from. Can't wait to return and am already on the hunt for other locations! read more

i don't go out to get drinks often anymore, but the previous couple of times i've gone here the women working have always been kind. after today though i'm not sure i'll be back to this location. the woman who took my order was just fine, but the one who made my drink was quite rude. when she placed it up on the counter she barely looked at me. then i noticed that it was missing the coconut milk i had asked for, so i nicely asked if i could please get the coconut milk added in. she seemed annoyed that i had asked but took it back and added the smallest amount in. then when she gave it back, i thanked her, and again without even looking at me she turned to the side with a nasty expression on her face. i could understand, to an extent, if she was having a bad day but she had seemed just fine a moment prior to that while talking to a coworker. i really didn't appreciate her attitude. otherwise, the interior of the shop is real nice and the drinks are the majority of the time as well. also very much appreciate them offering a vegan breakfast wrap. read more

Editing my review: I've added another star because the owner, Leah, replied and explained some circumstances this weekend that were out of their control. I'm all for giving a place another chance, and will definitely do that here next time I'm nearby. The thing with the person selling makeup on premises was still kinda weird though. ;) We were on our way north this weekend so we stopped in at Whidbey Coffee for some caffeine and a quick breakfast. The building itself is gorgeous. It's spacious, airy, and features a breathtaking "living wall" of plants that's worth a visit of its own! They also have some pretty cool swag on display, and the place is very clean. But the service. Oh, the service. I know times are tough for staffing but I'm not sure I've ever seen servers move as slowly as this team was. There appeared to be 4-5 staff on duty behind the counter during our visit, with a long line of people inside the store and a long line of cars at the drive-through, too. So yeah, the place is busy. But the staff appeared to be moving at the speed of slow molasses. And they weren't overly friendly, either. Since we had nothing to do but wait endlessly for our coffees and our food, and had a nice view of the drive-through line from where we were standing, we ended up watching the line of cars to see if it would have been faster to go that route. Nope, it took one particular vehicle over 10 minutes from the time they ordered to the time they arrived at the window. The coffee itself was decent, and hot, and the dude liked his Italian-style breakfast sandwich a lot. I had ordered a toasted bagel with cream cheese and it was only partially toasted with a really tacky little tube of Philadelphia cream cheese as an accompaniment. I also found it SUPER odd that one of the two inside seating areas was FULLY occupied by someone who appeared to be selling makeup. I didn't go check it out (major MLM vibes were emanating from that side room) but on a busy Saturday morning it seemed like the tables in that area could have been better used for, oh, maybe a place for customers to actually use for dining? I feel like this place could do better. Because if they just picked up the speed and the service a bit it would be a no-brainer to stop here on a road trip, as they're just a minute or two off of I-5. read more

Have passed this shop many times and finally tried the coffee. Ordered a wet cappuccino at the drive through. The woman working the window was quite rude and was also the one who made the coffee. Out of respect for professional baristas, I will refrain from calling her a barista. She made me the worst cup of coffee I've had in a long time. Just abhorrent. I live on Whidbey but work off island and this is the closest one to work. I've been several times the last few months and the employees at this one are completely lackluster. They don't say hi, I always have to repeat my order a couple times because they don't listen, I say thank you after they hand me my drink and I get an uh huh. The lack of professionalism is staggering considering there is a saturation of drive-through coffee stands in the area. I was driving to a Starbucks and found this coffee shop by accident. The patio seating was very inviting and I was sucked into their parking lot. This place is clean and very specious. The barista who helped me today was very friendly, too. I ordered an Americano and a blueberry scone. The coffee was very flavorful and did not have the burnt taste that I sometimes experience at other cafes. I give 5 stars for the Americano. The scone looked very nice but turned out to be disappointing. There were a lot of blueberries and it just looks delicious. I would not call it a scone, though; I would call it a "scone-shaped blueberry muffin." It's so soft and moist. It was good for what it is, but it's not a scone at all. Open early; good, inexpensive espresso; and friendly service - this place ticks all the boxes. Note that on weekends, the drive-thru window opens one hour earlier than the sit-down space. I was staying in Burlington for the Tulip Festival and was looking for my morning cup of espresso. Whidbey coffee is located in a large big box mall, so access and parking are very easy from either of the hotels across the street. I do wish they had smaller espresso cups, because my espresso shot got cold almost immediately in the large cup. I therefore love to sit inside next time, so I'll stop by a little later in the morning. read more

As a coffee conisouer down in LA, I was miserable on my Oregon/Washington/Canada trip finding LA coffee. This place made me feel like home - the environment, service, and coffee. The overall layout is beautiful of the shop and the interior architecture deserves an award. @Managers if you're reading this, give your girls a raise - I came here once going up to Vanc and once back and for both trips received amazing quality service. I'm genuinely surprised this place isn't flooded with a line out the door, everything is perfect and my idea study spot. I got a vanilla latte with almond milk and they made it really well! Definitely recommend it. Also loved the drip coffee and got the k-cups to take home. Wish I can come back, but would recommend!
