I was taking a yoga class at nearby Puma Yoga when I randomly noticed Lakewood Art Studios and decided to wander in. What a pleasant, pleasant surprise. Lakewood Art Studios is an artist collective, education and event space in Lakewood. I'm spitballing from memory, but they feature maybe 30+ local artists. Think the most unique pieces of jewelry, art, greeting cards, ceramics and other odds and ends thoughtfully curated in a gallery. You constantly have things to explore and no two things are the same. For me, buying handmade local artisan goods is my weak spot. Seriously, take all my money now. They also offer a variety of classes ranging from photography to portrait drawing and a comic book club, all held in the small classrooms in the back of the shop. This is a pretty special place. I was in a bit of a rush when I visited, but I am already planning to go back out to Lakewood to specially spend more time in Lakewood Art Studios appreciating all the one-of-a-kind pieces. The freedom to paint anything was great for kids but not us adults who fear messing up and know our complete lack in artistic ability. Most of us turned to the internet for ideas. We were invited to an art show last night by a dear friend who is an excellent artist; in several mediums. We arrived and entered to find the establishment was SO much more than I ever dreamed. There are a multitude of local artists displaying their work as well as teaching classes. The various studios were extraordinary. So many different mediums, so many forms, so many interpretations... it was inspiring. There were so many works I wanted to take home I could have filled my car; but then where would my wife have sat? So I resigned myself to enjoying the beauty of it all in the moment. And commiting to return often. If you enjoy the experience of creativity and the amazement of people's talents, you should definitely make a trip to "Stella's Art Gallery". Enjoy to your heart's content.

Jodi was a calm and easygoing instructor who gave plenty of instruction. She let us pick our patterns and glass colors and offered expert advice. We worked on the projects over two sessions, so we had plenty of time to finish our projects. I never felt rushed and I learned proper techniques. I will definitely go back and take another class at Jodi's studio.
