I was taking a yoga class at nearby Puma Yoga when I randomly noticed Lakewood Art Studios and decided to wander in. What a pleasant, pleasant surprise. Lakewood Art Studios is an artist collective, education and event space in Lakewood. I'm spitballing from memory, but they feature maybe 30+ local artists. Think the most unique pieces of jewelry, art, greeting cards, ceramics and other odds and ends thoughtfully curated in a gallery. You constantly have things to explore and no two things are the same. For me, buying handmade local artisan goods is my weak spot. Seriously, take all my money now. They also offer a variety of classes ranging from photography to portrait drawing and a comic book club, all held in the small classrooms in the back of the shop. This is a pretty special place. I was in a bit of a rush when I visited, but I am already planning to go back out to Lakewood to specially spend more time in Lakewood Art Studios appreciating all the one-of-a-kind pieces. I'll come here to discover new artists for my collection or buy stunning, original gifts for friends!

Lorain County Community College is scamming veterans…read more I attended this university from 2020-2023 on the Post 9/11 GI Bill. However, my benefits expired before I finished so I had to pay the difference on my student account. On Jan. 24, 2024, I paid off the balance in full which was $2,440.72, but I never received my diploma for over a year. When I went in to inquire about it on April 8, 2025, they said I still owed $400.45. I paid that amount in full but again did not receive my diploma. The Department of Veterans Affairs provided me with documentation confirming that Lorain County Community College owed me $211.67. They sent me a check for $188.78. Then apparently to celebrate 4th of July weekend, Lorain County Community College sent me a bill for $118.78 when I have not attended a class there in over 18 months and have settled this account twice now to the tune of $2,841.17. If this does not constitute a scam, it is gross and shameful negligence. For all I know, they will continue to hold my diploma hostage and they will continue to bill me for classes I took and paid for years ago. Shame on you, Lorain County Community College.

While the paint dries the children are taken into a side room where they can have pizza, cake, ice cream, and present opening before taking their masterpieces home. The grown up version went a little different, with appetizers and drinks first to loosen us up first before we ventured into the other room to paint. For my party we painted wine glasses. The freedom to paint anything was great for kids but not us adults who fear messing up and know our complete lack in artistic ability. Most of us turned to the internet for ideas. We were invited to an art show last night by a dear friend who is an excellent artist; in several mediums. We arrived and entered to find the establishment was SO much more than I ever dreamed. There are a multitude of local artists displaying their work as well as teaching classes. The various studios were extraordinary. So many different mediums, so many forms, so many interpretations... it was inspiring. There were so many works I wanted to take home I could have filled my car; but then where would my wife have sat? So I resigned myself to enjoying the beauty of it all in the moment. And commiting to return often. If you enjoy the experience of creativity and the amazement of people's talents, you should definitely make a trip to "Stella's Art Gallery". Enjoy to your heart's content.

Jodi was a calm and easygoing instructor who gave plenty of instruction. She let us pick our patterns and glass colors and offered expert advice. We worked on the projects over two sessions, so we had plenty of time to finish our projects. I never felt rushed and I learned proper techniques. I will definitely go back and take another class at Jodi's studio.
