Say the word "wine" and I'm in. "Canvas?" Eh...I have the artistic ability of a 2 year old. I can't…read moredraw straight lines. My stick figures look like clouds. My friends' kids can color better than me...so...I thought that me attempting to paint a picture at a Wine and Canvas event would be one big FAIL. But it wasn't! Wine and Canvas events are held at restaurants, bars, private homes, and many other places all around town. Every night has a designated "theme" so when you sign up for a class, you can pick what works with your schedule and your artistic taste. All of the materials are provided and there's an apron in case you make a mess. (and the paint washes out relatively easily out of clothes...not that I know this from experience or anything) I love birch trees, so I went to Claddagh in Legacy Village to paint some moonlit birch trees. I really expected my painting to look like the finger painting of a 5 year old, but...the instructor was nice, patient, and approached instructing us on how to replicate the "master" in a step by step manner. Acrylic paint is used, so even if you do make a "boo boo" you just need to wait a couple minutes and paint over what you'd like to fix. It was kind of amazing to see everyone's canvases go from white, to partial scenes, to looking almost like the original. There was a good crowd at the class, too. Men, women, moms with adult kids, dads with adult daughters, couples...if you like wine and/or painting, you wouldn't feel uncomfortable here! I didn't drink while painting, but the servers at the restaurant were hovering around to make sure that you could have a beverage or five if you wanted to. A few people also ate dinner while they painted. I'm not coordinated enough for that. This is definitely a fun activity to try out. Anyone - literally anyone - can do this. Now excuse me, while I go hang up my artwork.

Ever wanted to paint with a group of friends while enjoying a cocktails?!! Ever thought, "wow...I…read morehave no talent when it comes to painting anything and I would look like a fool if I went to a studio"? Well you are in Luck. Wine and Canvas is a very cool concept that is becoming quite popular. Wine and Canvas is a team that goes to various restaurants around the Cleveland area and hosts painting workshops while you have a cocktail, glass of wine, or even soda if you would like go to that route. You do not have to have any painting experience at all to take a class. The art instructor will give step by step instructions...and in the end you will look like you have been painting for years. The price is pretty reasonable...price ranges from $35-50 (depending on if it is a private party or not) and the price includes the canvas, the paint and other supplies, and the instructor who tells you what to paint and when. If you are looking for a fun date night, girls night out, or just want to try something new...check Wine and Canvas out! You will thank me later!
