Community Arts Center is a branch of the Cleveland Museum of Art and houses a gallery with lots of colorful, huge, exciting pieces of art created for and used during the Parade on the Circle! This gallery space is beyond inspiring which upbeat music playing and colors galore. They also have four art rooms decorated with large murals, tables, and art supplies. These rooms are set up with make-and-take art projects that are free to the community and they also offer art classes and events. This was such an amazing find and now I can't wait to bring all my friends here!

This was not a Yelp event but a SPACES event. I attended on a Friday night with my friend and former roommate. SPACES is a venue located west of downtown Cleveland where works of art are displayed just as you would find in an art gallery but they also have events throughout the year. The show I attended was very different for me and my first time experiencing this type of art form. Some people may find interpretive dance strange but if you come with an open mind then you will enjoy it or at least leave experiencing something different. I will rate my experience 4.5/5. I misread the program pamphlet but I later found out that 2 different artists were performing at the same time so attendees could select who they wanted to watch. I didn't know this at first so I did miss one performance (by an artist named Robert) which is fine. The performances were actually repeated for people who showed up later to the evening (there was a 2 hour window to walk around and watch the performances). It is hard to explain this show but you can take a look at my posted videos for further details. My favourite piece was the woman who performed a movement dance detailing her feelings with the local media. She had newspapers lined up on the floor and at one point started laughing and crying to express her feelings. Many of the other dancers like her had amazing balance, core strength, and flexibility. They were all very talented in their own unique way. Here is the official dance show description - "Six local choreographers converge to create movement poetry in a vivid portrayal of modern art. View original works from diverse perspectives and watch art literally come to life." I recommend visiting SPACES on a weeknight or weekend. It is a fun environment and encourages you to open up your artistic side if you aren't normally inclined to do so. I will definitely have to come back here to explore more of the featured art on the walls. All of the dancers are clearly extremely talented. Some of dancers core strength was amazing. My personal favorite dancer was Robert. His performance was simply beautiful. The facility itself was actually a very great space and it's in a great location in Hingetown which I enjoyed. It's very versatile space and I can see them being able to do plenty of things here. There is of course this gallery, but there is also the Galleries at CSU at the other end of the next block. Anyways.... This was a cool spot. I first wandered in as I was taking a walk around downtown. I didn't realize the place was between shows and not really open. I wandered in the first set of doors and yanked at the second only to realize I would have to be buzzed in. A lady quickly noticed me. At this point I had gotten a better look inside and saw it didn't look quite ready for visitors; I was expecting her to turn me away. But she was very nice, let me in, gave me some flyers on upcoming events and invited me to walk around and even go downstairs to where a second gallery was being set up. She kept saying she was sure I would like it better if I came back for their opening reception night, but I actually liked it at this visit. There were some things you couldn't get a good look at because they weren't set up yet, but it was cool to see the place in a state of transition. Not often does the average person get to see a gallery with paintings on the floor, some wrapped up still, others leaned upon others. Such a presentation could be a whole contemporary art exhibit of its own...but I digress. I did return after the opening night and was even more impressed. My only negative comment would be the lighting. I think it was just too full force and not really needed to the extent it was used. However I liked all the art - there's even some in the workers' offices on the first floor. All of it is for sale - $750.00 to $10,000.00. Free admission. This is more than just a gallery. They service paintings in what looks to be a sizeable backroom. You can come here for restoration or framing needs.

This time around it was $20 to paint a winter scene at Brick and Barrel and the price included two beers! Super great price! Perfect for a date night or girls night without busting the bank. My friend and I had a really fun time painting, drinking, and sharing some laughs with all of the other guests. Stephie, our instructor, was awesome! I would definitely take one of her classes again. The mood was very chill, there was no rushing through the steps, and help was always right there if we needed it. The Bianca Blonde beer from Brick and Barrel was pretty tasty too!

I recently went here for a friend's birthday party - they have a party room and you can bring…read morefood, drink, and decorations! You can even just walk in and paint. The person working the day of the party was so kind and helpful - making sure we all found the perfect piece to paint and checked on us to refill our paints. It took me awhile to decide but I picked a rainbow for my desk at work. My item was $35 and it's a pretty good size. Their items to paint are anywhere from $12-$50. They even have canvases you can paint. It took me about 3 hours to paint my rainbow - I wish I was a faster painter because I would like to have done another coat of paint. They took our items for the kiln when we were done and we were able to pick them up the following Wednesday (we were there on a Saturday). Overall, it was a fun experience I would definitely return!

We both thought she said something Miriam, but apparently she was saying Marem(sp?), and when my boyfriend called her Miriam not long later, again, not pleasant. Mean mugged, for lack of better words, the rest of the time we were there. If that was my only employee encounter I wouldn't go back. However, I met the owner and again, we really liked her. I will make sure Marem isn't there when whenever we go back just for us.

Even I had fun as we navigated the huge space with many different selfie stations. Coco greeted us when we arrived, and she first gave us a tour of the facility then set us on our way to take our selfies. We spent about 45 minutes in the facility and left with hundreds of cool photos. The admission fee is a bit high, but with the philanthropy work Coco does, I looked at it as a donation to help Coco's mission of giving back to the community.
