I love this store! I cannot think of one time that an employee was rude to me. Granted, some are more friendly than others but overall no problem at all. You can find curt/rude employees anywhere. If you do not like to dig through the junk to find the treasures then don't go there. And NO! Everything is NOT broken. That's crazy. I'd say most is new and how it got there I don't care. I've bought guy/car things my son has sold. I have been finding great deals for the 1 1/2-2 years I've been going. I've sold many items - especially clothing on Ebay. Found numerous house hold items at fab prices. On Fridays when they restock all new items you need to know prices of things so you don't overpay but that comes from being a educated shopper. I am still in absolute disbelief about what happened at Where Ya Bin Charleston today. I have never in my entire life been spoken to or treated the way I was by one of their employees. For context, Where Ya Bin is a BIN STORE. Which means the entire point of the store is for customers to dig, sift, and inspect overstock, returned, and damaged items. You go there to look, touch, and decide if something is worth buying. Sort of like a treasure hunt. Handling merchandise is not just allowed, it is expected. This context is what makes what happened today even more ridiculous. While shopping, I briefly pulled an item out of an already ripped-open, destroyed bag to get a better look at a visible crack. Before I could even put it back, a woman stormed up to me and immediately told me to "check out and leave." She did not identify herself as an employee or manager. In that moment she was just some stranger barking at me. When I said, "I'm sorry?" out of complete disbelief, she accused me of taking the item out of the bag. I calmly showed her the torn packaging and explained the item was literally falling out. Her response was, "It doesn't matter." At which point she laughed and says "See you just ripped it more." THE PLASTIC BAG WAS ALREADY RIPPED OPEN IN MULTIPLE PLACES. She then tried to justify her behavior by referencing an announcement that was supposedly playing in the store, that no one could hear, and that was in SPANISH. I don't speak Spanish. Neither did anyone around me. Expecting customers to comply with inaudible announcements in another language, with zero guidance or explanation, is absurd. Given her tone, I told her I was trying to be very kind and I just did not understand why I was being asked to leave. She responded, "I'm being kind too." At that point, I said, "Actually no, you're not. Your tone is incredibly disrespectful." Because she was. It almost felt like she was actively looking for a reason to remove my friends and I from the store. For context, this individual is about 5'2", has short black hair, and many visible tattoos and piercings. I mention this because her behavior made her unmistakably identifiable. Her approach was confrontational, accusatory, and entirely inappropriate. Based on the NUMEROUS Google reviews about the same individual with the exact same situation, this isn't a one off. It's a pattern. My friends and I immediately abandoned our very full cart and left. Between us, we would have easily spent $100-$300 each, nearly a $2,000+ sale lost all because of her actions. Believe it or not, it escalated further. While we were near our cars in the parking lot privately discussing the interaction, this same individual FOLLOWED US OUTSIDE. She stood against the wall smoking, staring directly at us, and clearly listening to our conversation. This was intimidating, unnecessary, and made me feel extremely uncomfortable as the one that had been singled out in a group of seven. Once we noticed her presence, we walked to the consignment store next door. Only after a couple of my friends returned to the store and asked to speak with a manager did this individual finally identify herself as one. Instead of providing any clarification, she forcefully told them to leave, claimed she "felt threatened," and stated that all of us were now banned. Claiming to feel threatened by customers who had already left and were then followed outside is WILD. Absolutely unbelievable. This was not a simple misunderstanding. This was a power trip, a misuse of authority, and a complete failure of basic professionalism. If this is how management reacts over a customer inspecting damaged merchandise, it says a lot about this store's culture. Charleston has plenty of bargain places to shop. This is not one I will be returning to until something changes with management. Anyone considering this store should think carefully before stepping inside. read more

It's filthy and dusty but we found a few good deals. There are different prices for each day. Today's Saturday, so it's $7 for each item. I honestly don't think anyone cleans in there... like ever. If you're allergic to dust, don't go or at least wear a mask. As soon as you walk in there is an area with gloves and mask. The box was empty of gloves and the masks looked as if someone touched them ALL. We left early due to everyone's allergies starting to kick in. i've been there many times never had a problem until today. I went in there with my daughters like we normally do as I said we've been there many times and the so-called manager my daughter of shoplifting for an item that is worth three dollars when I talk to him, he had a major attitude and called the police and told me that he wanted to search my teenage daughter mind you this is a man in his 40s. I told him you have no right to search my daughter and that we don't need to shoplift my cart was full we were going to spend anywhere from $150-$200 in the store today he had called the police. That's when I became very angry, and I shouted at him because he felt like he was right when he wasn't and he had no proof whatsoever, you cannot go around accusing people of doing something when you don't have proof behind it and there are cameras all over the place don't need to for items that are worth three dollars. The manager and the service there is awful. They are rude. They are disrespectful and they clearly are on a power trip so when the police came, I explained everything to them and I had told them that they accuse my daughter and they had no proof and they told us we were banned from the store that's fine. They have a LOT of things, most seem to be from target clearance. Clothes, shoes, household items, even journals and seasonal things. This is a reseller's dream. There are multiples of some of the items like soaps, self care things, and even clothes. Each day has a set price, with Friday being the most expensive ($10 per item) as this is their restock days aka when they get the good stuff. This is an absolutely fascinating store with a very different shopping concept. There are huge bins throughout the store with a whole bunch of stuff. Good stuff, medium stuff, but mainly not needed stuff. What I don't like is how disorganized everything is. Everything is just thrown into the bins so good luck trying to find something. Overall the store is kept quite clean. There aren't things on the floor and the floor itself is clean. You must follow the rules. Do not open any bad to check what's inside. You'll be sent out out of the store if you do. If you wish to see what's inside the bag, there is a counter that is staffed And you can go there and open up any box or bag in front of them. They will then reseal that bag for you. You can also test any electrical light in there to make sure it is working. The staff were all young and they did their job efficiently. Most look like they were bored and did not want to be there, but no complaints. They are young. I was prepared to leave without purchasing anything and then something caught my eye, an Indian outfit. Indian outfits can be expensive sometimes so I decided to check it out. It was actually quite pretty and it was my size. So I'm feeling happy a very strange find But a great find. Alas, there were no other Indian outfits there. I went on a Saturday, and all items are seven dollars on a Saturday. What a great deal! I don't think I'll be returning just because there was very little for my interest, but I can see how this would be a great place to shop at if you have a family needing a variety of sizes for all the different seasons. read more

The cashier "River" was the absolute rudest person I have ever met. She refused to check out the elderly lady in front of me because her driver was sitting up front. I offered to pay and they wouldn't let me. The cops were called and River refused to get the manager and said she was the manager. Me and my mom came in around 12pm. There weren't many people so we were excited to start looking. We decided to share a cart so we both weren't hauling 2 at the same time. Unbeknownst to me, my mom opened up 3 boxes just slightly to see what they were because they were already open. I saw the sign so before I could even explain to her, I turned around and saw an African American boy stoop to her eye level with his hands clasped. Luckily, I was only a few steps away so when I heard his demeaning tone how "the announcement was in Spanish so she could understand the rules". His head was bopping left and right just how a hoodlum would act. I kindly stated that there was no reason for him to berate my mother when she doesn't speak English. My native language is English so you can turn and face me. He proceeded to ignore me so I kept speaking over him and stated we arrived when the Spanish announcement was over so we didn't catch it. The English announcement didn't start until after he said it so I'm not sure how the announcements are timed. He continued to berate my mother and couldn't face me like the coward he is. He looked surprised I knew English and in times like this, you can't afford to assume what languages a person can speak due to your ignorance. So, I calmly took pictures and asked a young man if they were hiring so I could get information on the African American. I asked for the managers name, how much they were paying, etc. and he was kind enough to give me the information. Apparently, his name is Daniel and he gets paid $15 an hour but that's neither here nor there. Walking around like you own the place typically refers to displaying arrogance or a sense of entitlement, acting as if you're in charge or more important than others and at $15 an hour is definitely not up to par with an attitude as if you own the place. It's important to balance it with humility, respect for others, and an understanding that no one is above the collective effort. Treating others with kindness and respect, regardless of status or position, fosters healthier relationships and a more positive environment that makes customers want to go back. He assumed someone's language skills based on appearances and couldn't even face me when I stated English was my native language. Interesting place. Monday-everything is $5. I assume they get their shipments on Friday as Friday is $14 day. Thursday is .25 day. There were definitely people shopping-some leaving with carts of goods. Most things were picked over and I did not have the energy to spend checking it out. There is a place to go and test to see if items work and to open boxes. It was relatively calm, but I imagine it could get crazy in there. Opening day! I have previously been to other stores with the same basic business model and this is very much the same. You come into many bins filled with sealed boxes and bags and you sift through them as quickly as you can in order to get the best pick. You can figure out what is in about half of the boxes or or you scan them with the amazon app. If those don't work you are able to go the a counter and the staff will open the box for you and let you inspect it. There are no returns so make sure it is what you want. I did get some good clothes deals. I found a dress that sold on Amazon for $150 and pair of Levis jeans. Each day the prices go down so it is worth checking things out for the lower priced items too. I will say I was impressed with the friendliness of the staff for sure. read more

Upon a recommendation from a friend to go check this place out, I went Last Wednesday and everything was a dollar. All of the stuff was in complete and total disorder and a huge mess. Things were out of their boxes and out of their packages. I saw nothing of interest and was overwhelmed by the mess. I was told that most of the stuff was from Amazon returns, but that cannot be true. No matter what the deal, I won't be going back there. There's a couple reviews in here talking about the staff in very racist tones and frankly, that's just BS. Every staff member is doing their best in a super busy store and they give you respect if you respect the space and rules. I always follow the rules and have never had a bad experience. This store is roulette, sometimes there are great deals other times there is nothing but unwanted leftovers. Keep going back and you're bound to find a good deal. I found an Apple Watch, Apple Pencil, smartwatches, a $900 drone, several stanley cups, ect for $14. Depending on whatever project you are working on - there is plenty to choose from. Prices are $14 this day and continue to decrease until .25 cents on Thursdays. It's just like a giant swap meet. The facility is loaded with large bins with rollers that are placed through out the facility. I didn't count the number of bins but they are loaded with goodies. A person can hardly resist the fantastic number of great deals. Just take what you can use because it's too hard to resist a bargain. read more
