I was assaulted at this location last week . Customers are overly aggressive. One customer lost a portion of her finger and another ended up with a concussion. Escalating my assault issue to management I was invited to shop at another location when I told them I did not feel safe shopping in this store. read more

Hmm... I just went here yesterday and to be honest it was slim pickings. The men's section had a sparse amount of clothes especially for people in the lower sizes. I was looking for pants and there were about 12 pants total below a 32 waist. Maybe it's just the time of year or maybe they still were stocking the racks but it was underwhelming. The same goes for the men's tops. I will say the prices were very nice as there wasn't anything above $5. Compared to where I live, the prices are VERY reasonable. There are a lot of books and home linens and of course the women's section had a lot of clothes. This is a clean and nice store overall and the employees are really friendly. I just think I might have caught them at a low stock time. read more

95% of the store is only female clothing and female and shirts and pants and things for females and the men's section is so unorganized and there's nothing for men, like the shoe selection was only two or three pairs of shoes for men and they didn't even have laces. read more

I recently heard about this thrift store that had bins and I was eagerly excited! I didn't know what I was getting myself into but it was worth a shot! When I first walked in there are these huge blue bins and you can grab one to put in stuff you're interested in! There are so many bins and there are arrows that indicate the walking path through each bin. I will say that the bins aren't thoroughly clean. Random items piled together so I will say it does take time to sort through things. You can find hidden gems on occasion! Around 9:30ish they bring out newer bins for the day and people went crazy for that! I was shook honestly. Everything is by the pound. Books are roughly 79 cents a pound and clothes are 1.69 a pound. (Don't quote me on the prices) If you end up finding stuff you take your cart and place it on the scale and pay for your items! I bought a dress, skirt, sweater and cardigan for three dollars. I'd say it was good overall! I definitely will bring some gloves next time and a bag afterwards to put in my things! Pretty fun experience. This is the clearance store! Not much larger is this building than the other Goodwill locations in and around the Charleston area. The difference being, Rivers Ave is not just a thrift store -- it houses distribution and a side area for electronics. Certainly more than I expected and displayed not much differently than a Best Buy would have done. Cell phone cases, laptops, DVDs and the players, monitor, hard drives and enough connectors to leash a brontasaurus. Feeling life's toll being taken, I reached for a comedy and envisioned my evening plan. But relating to something that you understand, brought to you if only for a minute or two, will tend to bring that much needed comforting knowledge that I'm not the only one. read more

Went in to see if they had anything worth snagging. I had a 'gift card' with a lot of money on it because that's how goodwill does refunds unfortunately after things don't work. Found a crockpot and decided to snag it. After refusing to take the gift card I begrudgingly paid for it because I kind of needed a crockpot. The crock pot does not work. I will no longer be using Goodwills services after this. read more

This Goodwill is split between a regular store, a clearance store, and a computer shop. I visited the regular store and clearance store this weekend and wasn't really impressed by either one. First the regular store had a bunch of broken stuff that should have been in the clearance store. They have all the other junk you'd expect to find at a Goodwill, but not a great selection. My next stop next door at the Goodwill Clearance center was shocking. First when you go in there is no buggies, but rather a large rolling bin resembling a trash can. Everything for sale is in large bins that you dig through. And everything you buy is done by weight, which could or could not work in your favor. As far as service at the 2 stores the cashiers at both were friendly enough. I will say I was happy I had some hand sanitizer in my car after shopping. read more

I like a good discount! For that, Goodwill is perfect because they have a lot of donated clothes, books, and home decorations as very, very cheap prices. They have a drive-thru like setup at the back/side of the store that you use to easily use to donate your used clothes, electronics, or home decorations. For your efforts, you get a a 10% off coupon to use at the retail store and a possible tax write-off. What I particularly like about this location is that it's easiest the most organized and clean Goodwill Stores that I've been to. Some that I've been to look like war zones. Also, if you're looking for electronics, this is the first Goodwill that I've seen that has a separate electronics store with desktops, computer monitors, etc that is adjunct to the retail store. Moreover, the staff were very nice and friendly and greeted me when I walked inside. There are also empowering messages saying stuff like "Hope, Power, Helping People" on the walls as decoration which are inspiring. Overall, this Goodwill is pretty nice and worth a quick stop to see if there's anything you like! read more

Is it "Horrible Customer Service Week?" I walk into this Good Will with a bag of clothes to donate. The woman at the counter/cashier tells me "You'll have to leave your bag at the counter dear" as I enter the store. I explained that my intentions are to leave the bag in general since it is a bag of donations... let me guess I was coming into the good will with a bag of clothes to shop lift??? Poor Customer Service. I would have expected her to say "Hello can I help you?" Or "Are you here to donate those items?" If I didn't NEED the task write off I would have turned around and left. So we love to thrift shop and spend quit a while in the stores looking in all the nooks and crannies hoping for that steal of a deal. Today was a great day for it but unfortunately the air seems to be broken in the store. It absolutely made the time we would have spent cut short. So much to see but I can't even imagine how the employees must feel without benefit of even a fan to cool them off or create a breeze. And this is the showcase store in front of their main office. This Goodwill location has a convenient and covered drive-thru drop-off door. I was able to drop off a truck load of clothes, desk, dresser and bed frame in about three minutes, get a receipt and go. The lady working there was very helpful and didn't shy away from the heavy stuff. The only negative is I couldn't call them to confirm what they would and wouldn't accept. Found three phone numbers on the web, including their own site, but all were disconnected. Found out they won't take ceiling fans and ceiling light fixtures, even if working, so don't bother bringing things like that. read more

Very friendly service people both inside the store and at the drop off station on the side of the building. They have special deals that they announce over the PA system. This is a standard sized store with plenty of clothing items to look through. They have the Womens Plus-Sized clothing racks clearly marked which is one of the selling points for me. It is easy to review what's on the racks and get out of there on my lunch hour. The overall impression I gather is clean and organized. They play energizing music over the PA system which helps move me along. I will definitely return here to peruse the racks again. read more

As far as Goodwill Stores go, this one needs some help. I had high hopes driving by because the building itself was very new and clean on the outside. When I walked in I was immediately hit with a stale, body-odor-esque smell. It was very off putting and I found myself rushing out when I would have browsed for much longer. I did manage to find a copy of Amy Poehler's "Yes, Please" book for $1.99 so that was a nice find. I can't imagine coming back to this location any time soon. It was very large and spacious but MESSY. Especially in the housewares section. I've definitely been to nicer Goodwills. read more

Shopping at Goodwill in Charleston has been a horrible experience. It didn't matter which Goodwill I went to the stores were messy and not well kept. They sell mostly junk that was probably picked up on the side of the road. Which is very dissappointing. When I lived in Texas I loved going to the Goodwill. In Central Texas the Goodwill sells new and gently used items ranging from clothes to furniture that have matching pieces and are not broken. The prices are reasonable and the stores are clean and organized. I hope whoever is in charge of these stores reads then and takes a look at Goodwill stores around the country that are well put together because the Charleston location is not it. read more

Over the years I donated many thousands of dollars worth of goods to Goodwill. Today I visited 6607 Rivers Ave. N., Charleston, SC Goodwill. I am disabled and you would think that a goodwill would Supply mobile riders for those in need. After all they are Goodwill. As I entered the store I realized, they have a sign that says no concealed weapons. I was not aware that goodwill was against the Second Amendment. It was clearly marked on the door no concealed weapons. Of course they have a right by law to post whether they want to allow decent citizens who protect themselves to enter the store or not. I chose not to enter their shop. If they want to reject law abiding Citizen's from Entering their stores, then law abiding Citizen's should look elsewhere for bargains, and for a better charity to donate their money to. As for me I will boycott Goodwill and find a better charity that does not reject good people and create a dangerous gun free zone where most terror attacks and deadly crimes are carried out statistically. Donation drive up. This is the mega-store location! Wow, it has corporate buildings in the back as well as a large distribution center. However, for the simple person dropping off items for donation, it is simple and easy. There is a drive through which allows you to pull up, and with the help of an employee, put your clothes in a roller bin and off they go. Make sure you get your receipt for tax purposes! I didn't go inside, but I am going to assume it is awesome. On a small side note, no Concealed Weapons allowed in the store...LAME! read more

This store is a rip off. In the past, if a device did not work they would let you return it. Yesterday, I bought a tv which they said worked fine but thinking they still allowed returns I did not try it. Now they tell me they will not allow returns. So I'm out of money with a junk tv. So, my advice is to anyone considering a purchase of anything that costs more than a few dollars is to AVOID GOODWILL. Its hard to make sure everything works before you buy something. You are better off going to a discount store where you know they will stand behind whatever you buy. Caveat emptor or BUYER BEWARE! read more
