A miserable hostess sat us. Our waitress greeted us almost 10 minutes after arriving. There was no wait and didn't seem terribly busy . Our 4 meals came out 10 minutes after ordering. Food that comes out that quick makes me think it isn't made fresh. Everyone thought there food was good, except me. I ordered a chicken wrap with grilled chicken and no mayonnaise. When it came out, the chicken and the wrap was very cold to the touch. I've never had a cold wrap before so I sent it back. Not sure about the rest of you, but I expect my wrap to be made fresh, not have cold pre-made chicken in it. I could take chicken out of the refrigerator at home if that's what I wanted . Ugh. Anyway she took it back and the wrap that came out next had smoked pulled chicken on it instead of grilled chicken AND mayonnaise on it. Soooooo the cook told her that he can't warm up the grilled chicken only the smoked pulled chicken. What?? I don't like smoked pulled chicken that's why I didn't order it to begin with. How about you cook a piece of grilled chicken? So I sent it back. I should have stopped there, but I ordered the fried chicken wrap so that it would be warm. I never order a third time, afraid of what they may give me , not sure what i was thinking. The cook himself brought it out to me with a lot of attitude, like it was my fault. Wow. What a great fun evening. We come to Chautauqua once a year. Always looking for a new place, especially BBQ. This place exceeded our expectations. First the atmosphere is fun and friendly. They sat us promptly by the back window to watch the fabulous sunset. Our server Vicky helped us with the menu. She suggested we split the watermelon, tomato and feta cheese Salad with a vinegarette dressing. It woke up our taste buds. Truly amazing. Then we shared the brisket, and smoked half chicken. The brisket was crisp and tender. The chicken was so most and flavorful. We also had a side of ribs which was sumptuous. The beans had a a unique flavor with chunks of sausage. The ear of corn tasted like it came from the farm next door. I put the dressing from the salad on the corn. And for only $5.99 order the Texas sheet cake brownie with two scoops of ice cream, whipped topping, walnuts, the thickest fudge ever and two cherries on top. A friend recommended this place to us, so on a beautiful Saturday evening, we decided to try it out. The location is off the beaten path, but it's right on the water. There's indoor and outdoor seating and a variety of options for both, as there's an indoor and outdoor bar. We sat inside and were quickly greeted. I ordered the Que fo One with smoked turkey with mac and cheese, and it came with a piece of cornbread and ear of corn. My boyfriend ordered the pulled pork/mac and cheese sandwich with a side of fries. Our food came quickly and was hot to the touch. The mac and cheese was flavorful and creamy, cornbread was moist and yummy, and the corn was cooked to perfection. The meat wasn't anything to write home about, however, the bbq sauce definitely helped. My boyfriend was only able to eat half of his sandwich and left very full. I had his leftovers for lunch the next day and was stuffed to the gills. I'm unsure of how anyone could eat that entire sandwich in one sitting! The pulled pork on his sandwich was tender and yummy. Brisket that is fatty is a must for me, so I asked our server for the fattiest parts possible, even if they had to give me what they trim off others' pieces. And I got it, which was really nice because I get the feeling that their brisket tends to be on the lean side normally. We got: BBQ Oink Fest - we added ribs too, for a little extra, so our giant tray contained brisket, half a chicken, ham, ribs, cornbread, corn on the cob, coleslaw, potato salad, mac & cheese, pickles & butter We also got their very crunchy onion rings that came with a smoky chipotle-y dipping sauce. The mac & cheese comes topped with extra cheesy sauce & cheese The pork ribs were smoked to pink, juicy & fatty, with nice bark, not falling off the bone - tender chewy. The chicken was tender & though the skin was loaded with a bit much rub for my taste, even the white meat was moist. The pats of butter were great on both the cornbread & the corn. The brisket had a nice layer of fat and bark on it. The ham was flavorful and not overly salty like ham can be. A disappointment was that we had no room for dessert. If I could give this place negative stars, I would. This place is the pits, no pun intended. A pun is too good for this place. 1) We waited 20 minutes for anyone to give us to ask for our drink orders. We almost let when a server finally came up. 2) The server said she wasn't assigned to this area, but she'd "try" to serve us. We should have gotten up at this point. 3) We ordered one type of BBQ (the beef) and one side (fries). The meal was supposed to come with corn on the cob and corn bread...not I said supposed too. 4) We waited 1 hour and 10 minutes after ordering before deciding we had to leave. My 20 month d daughter, who had been great up to this point, was starting to get past hungry and tired. 5) As we were leaving the guy I assume was the owner, was appalled we wanted our food now or we were leaving. He didn't care that 20 other tables (no kidding) had come in, ate, and left. 6) Miraculously, our food appeared as we were walking out the door. It was cold. Even my daughters corn dog was still frozen in the middle. 7) The food SUCKED!! The beef was dry--it's BBQ, dry is hard to do. We only received one piece of corn, no fries, and did I mention everything was cold. 8) The server gave us two "free" pieces of corn on the cob, which were butter and totally inedible. 9) No apology was offered. We were just obnoxious customers who expected edible food. 10) For all our trouble, we paid $30 for crappy food, crappy service, and a crappy time. Bottom line: AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. This restaurant is one of the most inept places to dine in Westfield. The cooks cannot cook a hamburger to temp. I've eaten there twice since I moved to Westfield. The first time I ordered the three little pigs burger. I asked for medium rare after my server assured me that they were not prone to overcooking and got medium. Not terrible though I would have ordered rare if I had known that this place does indeed over cook. Just to qualify my statements before I describe my second experience I need to say that I am a Chef and former line cook. I've worked in a variety of restaurants both commercial and high end for 37 years. I know food and proper temperatures quite well. My second hamburger (giving the place a second chance since sometimes a cook can have an off night and medium and medium-rare are not that far apart) was yesterday evening. We ordered out. The person who took the order was told that the last time the burger was overcooked. Again we were assured that this would not happen again. This time two of us ordered. One burger rare. The other was supposed to be medium rare. The medium rare (my roommate's burger) came out medium. My rare burger was medium-well. I was very dissapointed. To me that's a good way to ruin a burger. I won't return to this place again. To be fair the portions are good. When we dined in house the service was good. Also nice ambiance. Good decor. But a restaurant with as limited a menu as this one should have no problem consistently cooking something as simple as a burger. read more

Ok so we stumbled onto this place today and said let's give it a try. We love a good BBQ. So we were seated and waited for for our server. We ordered two ice teas and ordered all at once. Took like ten minutes to get our drinks. Bartender was our server and other people's server. Table next to us were there before us and no one wanted on them at all so they left. A lot of people were waiting on drinks from the bar. Sorry but a bartender needs to stay behind the bar. So we ordered the burnt ends quesadilla. And I ordered the Que fo one, I got the turkey and the cowboy caviar. Was tasty. Now the bad parts, we waited over a half an hour to get our food. I had three slices of turkey with a blast of dry rub on the top piece. The honey skillet bread tasted like regular corn bread. The cowboy caviar says it has burnt ends in it and smoked kielbasa sausage. Yeah not even close. It had a little beef in it and the so called kielbasa was plane old hotdogs. I've had way better bbq and have had a lot worse. So just dont set your expectations high. Maybe it was just an off day. read more

I read all of the negative reviews about the service, so I went here with my family the Friday before July 4th with some trepidation. We arrived at 6:00 pm with a party of 16. No reservation, as they do not take them. We were told there would be a 15 minute wait, which I expected. The hostesses at the front door we're pleasant and accommodating, as was the bartender on duty. We all ordered drinks, and got them in a timely manner. A few of our party went to the outside bar closer to the water, and had a pleasant experience there as well. We were seated when the said they would seat us, and put waiter deftly broke up the check in advance by taking the orders in groups paying the checks. We had Bourbon wings for an appetizer, which were delicious. I had the pulled pork which was yummy, and my husband had the ribs, which he said were maybe the best he has ever had - and my husband has had a lot of ribs in his life, believe me. When the check came , everyone's was split up correctly, and we were checked out efficiently. I can safely say I experienced none of what previous reviewers complained of - the food was excellent, as was the service. I would say to anyone NOT going because of previous 1 star reviews, many of those we're written at the very beginning of this restaurant's opening. They seem to have ironed out the kinks. Update went back, was served an onion top or bottom, you know the part of the that is cut off and thrown away. The prep people have no knife skills and the head cook does not care what is served. The sandwich the roast beef thing with hillbilly gravy was very greasy, left puddle of oil in the basket. Beef was not shaved, 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch slices. Fries again frozen, in your basket you have a choice of old refried fries and fries the were somewhat fried fresh. This place needs work. On top of that, there is an outdoor bar and huge patio area that is perfect for an evening meal. You can tell they put a lot of work into the overall design of this place. Then there is the food. My party came in for dinner at 530pm and the restaurant was empty-ish. After sitting down for about 5 minutes the restaurant was packed. Our server was slammed but was as attentive to our party as best she could have been. If you are expecting top notch service then why are you going to a BBQ restaurant in a beach town? Lighten up and enjoy a drink with a view! We are everything from a one meat (kielbasa) plate with sweet potato fries to a Cheesey Mac N Rib sandwich to a Whiskey Rib and everything was excellent. We overheard people complaining that a BBQ restaurant shouldn't take as they as they did getting their food out but it out wait was fine. Again, relax, you are in a beach town. While I was in the area visiting family I got the opportunity to try this restaurant out opening week. Overall, I was impressed with it. The food, the atmosphere and the staff was excellent, and I can certainly see this being a hotspot in the summer months with it's lake view and great outdoor seating. The food was very good. We got the BBQ Oink Fest with smoked pulled chicken, smoked pulled pork, and beef brisket along with a side of ribs and the potato salad, coleslaw and mac n cheese. This was easily enough for 3-4 people, and we all left quite full and satisfied. The flavor of the meat was excellent, with a wonderful smoked tenderness achieved by hours in the smoker. The beef brisket was a touch fatty, but extremely tender and with an excellent char on the outer rim and nice pink color throughout. The chicken was good for what it was, I am not a fan of pulled chicken but the person who ordered it at the table was very pleased for it. The pulled pork was delightful and would have made an excellent sandwich. The BBQ sauce, located in a condiments bottle on the table, was pretty good, and enhanced the meat nicely. My only complaint, and this may be colored by being a resident of Houston TX for the last 16 years, was a lack of bread, pickles and onions to accompany the meats. I asked for bread and was brought a grilled bun, which was delicious; but it seemed odd to me to have to ask for bread given two pulled meat options on the platter. Otherwise, everything was excellent and I certainly recommend this to anyone living in or visiting the area. This kind of BBQ is uncommon in the area, and When Pigs Fly does it very well. We were seated by a very nice hostess, and proceeded to sit there for about a half hour, which whatever, we'll live. When we finally got the attention of a server (who barely came over, she was ignoring us, no joke), we asked for service, to which she replied [very accusationally], "WERE YOU SEATED BY SOMEONE? DID YOU SIT DOWN BY YOURSELVES?" to which we replied, no, a hostess sat us. She still didn't believe us, despite us having menus, and having sat there, and very apprehensively said she'd go inside and see who our server was, and proceeded to clear a table in our sight, with a huff and puff, and she never returned. Please be careful when reading reviews of this establishment: they have only been open for 1 week (as of 6/4). The food was EXCELLENT! There is no BBQ like this in Chautauqua County and I am excited it's here! There are some kinks that need to be worked out. Perhaps more menu knowledge by servers, the owner should probably knock before entering the women's bathroom to get soap, perhaps the restrooms should be clearly labeled (M/W), although the rooster/hen pics are cute they can cause confusion. Our food was fantastic. But, I ordered a side of slaw with my sandwich. It wasn't there when it came, we asked for it, and our server replied "it's on the sandwich. You can see it." True. Luckily, I like slaw on my sandwich, but perhaps someone will not. Better to ask than just assume. Soft drinks and a bar list should be available somewhere. Great view of the lake. Great outdoor bar.
