Since i live only 2 blocks away, went in for a Wheel Balance and Alignment earlier today. Used the website coupons. Customer Service was pretty good. They told me 2 hours but i did not really worry about time as i live close. Work was done to my satisfaction. I had some questions on the braking system which were promptly answered and honest suggestions were provided. I have used another Wheelworks for getting new tires for my Rav4 (other car) and the experience there was also great. I had literally got the tires under internet prices. Good thing about wheelworks, they always pricematch without a question. Not like other tire shops where they will blabber as to how their service is best, hence the higher price and all other are bs. read more

I've come here a few times over the past couple of years when I needed new tires. And every single time, without exception, the staff here has been amazing. They've helped me research the right tires, took the time to price compare them online (and price matched when they found a lower price!), and just generally did everything possible to help me out (including accommodating some weird scheduling requests from me). Look, no one comes to a tire shop for fun -- you're usually there because you had something go wrong with your car. These guys understand that, and go out of their way to turn a crappy situation into a good experience. I had a really mixed experience when I came here. I dropped my car off to get a standard oil change, and made sure to remind the person I talked to about needing to get my air filters checked. I knew I hadn't change them in awhile, and thought it was likely that would need to be done this time around. They told me my car would be ready in an hour and a half, and I live nearby so I walked home. Two hours and 15 minutes later, I hadn't heard anything back. I walked over and they said my car had been done for 45 minutes and hadn't gotten around to calling me, which was definitely frustrating. Then when I asked if they had checked my filter, they said they hadn't. I asked them to do it on the spot and they did, and noticed it needed to be changed (surprise!). However, they didn't have the replacement there. The guy said if he'd known 45 minutes ago, they could have had one dropped off by the time I picked my car up... While I was there, I was also getting one replacement tire. I decided not to get it that day because I was already late for something (with all the extra time it took after the point they said it would be done. When I went back a few days later to get my tire and filter, I talked to the manager (Shawn) and he was so incredibly helpful. He waived the fee of my filter because of the mess up they had. He was so apologetic and you could tell he really took customer service seriously (even though some of his employees had not). All in all, this would have been a 2-star experience had it not been for Shawn's 5-star service in the end. read more

They replaced windshield wipers that were only a few months old and barely used, and did multiple services that were unnecessary at her low mileage. This place is phenomenal. My car unexpectedly broke down a block or so away from Wheel Works, and I was able to get it into the parking lot. Sanam helped me look at it and said that they could fix it (a broken power steering belt) that evening. Bruce did an inspection and completed the fix very quickly. The price was reasonable, and I was able to drive away that night with a fixed car! Sanam was very helpful and courteous the entire time, and I am so thankful for his assistance. Wheel works @555 Showers Dr.Is a waste of time Not only did they waste my time by going through their website to make an appointment once I arrived after the sale they informed me there would be an hour wait the 2st waste of my time. They did not have the courtesy to call or send an email that my appointment would be postponed 3th waste of time . So they wasted my time driving to and from the shop 4th waste of time. As we all know that that driving through Mountain View is no cakewalk. Which is more of a waste of my time.No one was at the counter when I arrived 5th waste of time. Location refused to honor price that was quoted on the Wheel Works website for my specific vehicle - $112 for alignment for 2021 Tesla Model S. Said there would be additional $50 charge for Advanced Driver Assistance System, but could not explain what actual extra work would be involved vs. a standard alignment, or why this might apply to a Model S but not a Model 3 which has the same systems. The car's computers calibrate itself during driving including the cameras and steering wheel sensor, and they are not accessible nor necessary to an alignment shop. Then, after leaving my vehicle at the appointment time, they said they would call me when it was ready. An hour and a half later I returned, and they told me they had been unable to complete the work due to not having the correct specs in their computer. They had discovered this 40 minutes prior (per vehicle logs) but did not call me. A complete waste of time and energy. read more

Five stars for sure - Wheel Works is great. I've been a happy customer of the Wheel Works in Los Gatos for over 15 years. This year I moved to Palo Alto and when I realized that I had a slow leak in a tire this morning, I considered driving down to Los Gatos but I was afraid I wouldn't make it. So, I went to the Wheel Works on Showers Drive in Mountain View. Alvin, the service advisor, helped me. He looked up five years worth of Wheel Works visits, but we still couldn't find the $850 I spent on new tires in 2005. I didn't have the receipt or the guarantee that came with the tires. Alvin said, "let's just take a look". I said, "I really hope you can fix it, I'd rather not buy a new tire." 45 minutes later, my tire was fixed. I got out my bank card to pay and Alvin said "No charge. Have a great day." Could getting a tire fixed get any better than that? Well, it could - this Wheel Works is next to Target, so next time I need a tire fixed, I'll make a trip to Target while I wait. read more

We have had several negative experiences with this Wheel Works. The latest is that we brought our car in with a check engine light on. They fixed whatever they claimed the problem was, for an extremely high price. The very next day the check engine light was on again. We took it in again, but they were too busy to help us and requested that we bring it back in a week. When we brought it back, they had the car for 2 full days, they fixed whatever the problem was again (completely different from what they had previously said), and again at a high price. This time we brought it back and 2 weeks later, the check engine went on a third time. When we brought the car back, they promised to have it done the same day, and then never called us back. We called them back after 2 days and they hadn't even started working on it. We decided to take our business elsewhere. read more

I ran over a huge screw today and with only 45 minutes to spare called Victor who quickly got his first available crew member fixing my tire. I was out of there, free of charge, in 35 minutes. Every time I've had to visit Wheel Works it has been a great experience. Got all new tires there last year and it was like a Nascar pit crew -- the speed of these guys was crazy! Last resource in a Sunday afternoon? They had the tires for our car, that apparently are not that easy to find (go figure) They never answered the phone. We got there before they answered, as I was with them with the waiting music (over 20 minutes). We had a flat tire, but they were the only people in the 20 miles radio that had tires for our car and we're open, on a Sunday PM. They got our 2 front tires changed and the car aligned on 3 hours. read more

Consumer beware. Believe the low ratings. WHEEL WRECK. I came to Wheel Works twice for service. The first time I had a flat repaired and they convinced me to replace two tires. When I got my car back my clutch was squeaking and there were also squeaking noises when I turned my steering wheel to the left. I spent $150 at the dealership to remove the entire plastic undercover and reinstall to get rid of the squeaking. The second experience was even worse. I had a screw in the middle of my rear tire and requested a flat repair. Without seeing our car, he said it couldn't be done because they were too busy. We asked the rep to take a look and perhaps he'll have a better estimate of timing. He took a look and said a flat repair was not possible and to consider a tire replacement since the screw was too close to the edge of the tire. The screw was in the middle of the tire! Without hesitation, we called Rich's Tires and they took care of our flat in 10 minutes for $15. read more

I had a wonderful experience with these guys! I walked in on a Sunday without an appointment and they were able to check out my flat tire within minutes. Turned out I needed it replaced. They had it complete and ready to go for me in well under 24 hours. I paid exactly what I was quoted (no added fees) and the guys were polite and responsive start to finish. read more

I was going to go to Target and Wheel Works to change my oil and grab some groceries. I parked my car in the target parking lot (same parking lot as wheel works), and when I came back out my car wouldn't start. After asking several people if they would be willing to jumpstart the car and all of them saying no, I walked over to the Wheel Works and asked if they could help me out since I was already going to be getting my car serviced there. The employee, Casey, told me in a moderately rude fashion that since my car was not on "their side of the bushes" in the parking lot, they could do nothing. They told me that the only way that they would do anything is if I pushed my car into their part of the parking lot or got it towed 100 feet. So I pushed the car into their part of the lot and went in again, making eye contact with the person at the counter again and saying, "Alright, I have pushed it over here." After waiting about 5 whole minutes without so much of an acknowledgement while this person finished going through a stack of papers and calling different people with me standing right in front of them, they finally just said (without looking at me) "What kind of car is it again?" I told them. They said in a pretty clearly annoyed tone "So if your battery is dead, we don't have a battery charger. So we'll have to run a diagnostic test for an additional $160 on top of whatever the charge is to fix it and labor costs, and the wait is pretty long." I couldn't believe it. I felt like this person was literally doing everything they could short of telling me to go to hell to get me to NOT give them my business. So I told them I had a portable battery charger in my trunk, and asked if I charged it up would they be able to help me. The person said "I'm not gonna tell you that you CAN'T use our electrical outlets outside, but... " and then paused very awkwardly. So I said thank you and went back outside to my car. Mind you, this whole time I was very polite, doing my best to show that I wanted to give them my money to work on my car. I got a very rude response, the attitude towards me was very irritable and stubborn and I just felt like they were trying to get me to go away. It wasn't what they were saying, I respect that they have their policies, it was just the way I was treated that compelled me to get an account on here so I could write my first review to warn others. I finally got a family member to come jump start the car and I left, there's no way I was going to pay them for anything after that experience. Easily the worst customer service I've ever gotten from an auto shop, or any shop for that matter. If you want to risk being treated very poorly, then give them a try! They're probably not always like this. But if they did it to me, they could do it to you. read more

Horrible incompetent service, deception. Called a day ahead to schedule new shocks and tires. 'Len' assured me they could get the work done tomorrow, no problem. Arrived 10 minutes early, on a Thursday (they USED to be open late on Thursday, not anymore). Said they'd call when done, around 5pm. $1360 for 4 tires, two shocks, two struts, and oil change. Kinda high maybe, but okay it's Palo Alto. Then call me in the afternoon, need bushings for struts, another $70 bucks (I checked, only $30 bucks on-line). But okay, they probably did need replacing, and delivery/warehouse costs, okay. I give consent, they re-confirm the 5-5:30 completion time. Here's where my REAL complaints start. While a co-worker is driving me there, around 5:30, they call and say they'll have to keep the car overnight. They couldn't get it done due to 'some wrong part' or something. Sounded like BS to me... When I arrived, I noticed they had changed only two of the four wheels. Indicating to me that they either over-booked, or some mechanic had to leave early. At least they offered a rental car, but that took about an 1-1/2 to get. (I have to drive back home to SF!!!) The rental guy picked me up around 6:45, had to ride back to rental agency, paperwork. Also, when I read the receipt, there's only a 1-year guarantee on whell alignment. I had visited the shop late one evening a few weeks before, and the guy said they had life-time alignment. I think management has changed at this place between then and now, and they no longer provide late-night Thursday service. So, I gave them all day to do a pretty straight-forward job, and they failed miserably, and I'm pretty sure they lied to me about it too. Still haven't gotten my car back today (Friday). Will let you all know when they finally finish. I hope the quality of the work is better than the service. No choice but to give WheelWorks a giant F-. read more

Why so rude and condescending? Is it unreasonable to ask for an explanation of the difference between wheel alignment and wheel balancing? I did, in fact, know that my wheels needed to be balanced, but (after waiting 15 minutes for service) I was told it would take 4 hours, but not today as they are too busy. Used to go there a lot back in 2005 and 2006, but a bad experience made me change. However, due to an emergency, I ended up having to go back there in order to get myself out of a jam. Turns out they have completely overhauled their staff, and are a lot more friendly and considerate. The guy at the counter gave me 10% off just because he had seen the lapse in my business, and said he wanted to do whatever he could to keep it. They're employees are young in the shop, but know what they're doing since they took the time to explain what the problems with my car were. I purchased four tires and alignment since they had the best price for the tires that I wanted, in stock. I called ahead for an "appointment" but when I got there it became clear that they would not even be able to start working on my car for a few hours. I came back at closing time, and it was still another 45 minutes for them to wrap up the work. The general attitude towards the customer seems less than respectful. As usual, they included the road hazard warranty in the price quote, but removed it when I asked them to. The workmanship of the installation seems fine. read more

Got an oil change and they spilled oil all over the engine etc. Also got a wheel alignment and they took it for a test drive. Turns out they were trying to burn the oil off instead and came back with the car smoking and smelling of burnt smoke. They had to keep it overnight and claim they would have it steam cleaned tomorrow. read more

My car blew a front tire on Page mill road over a pot hole on Sunday afternoon. The car is a Toyota Sienna Minivan with All wheel drive. The tires on this car are difficult to find on short notice as they are run flats, and most places are closed on Sunday. After a few calls to Costco and America's tires, I found Wheel Works. It was about 1:30 PM when I reached them, and they had the tires and were willing to fit my car into their busy schedule. Since this car is my commuter and the one that is used as the kid shuttle for school, I was very grateful, and I wanted to express that gratitude here so that others can see what a great bunch of guys work at this shop. We used to go to Wheel Works in Mountain View for all our tires and related work. Then recently I took in the car with a flat tire and the guy at the desk looked at the tires, insisted I needed an entirely new set, refused to even fix the tire with the leak, and also refused to honor the Wheelworks warranty on them because we hadn't had them rotated and aligned there (our car dealer does it with our scheduled service appointments). We had ample miles left on the warranty. I grabbed my keys, walked out, and took the car to another tire shop, which happily fixed the leak, recommended a place for alignment and rotation, and didn't even charge me. They have changed over the years, and we will never be going back there for anything. read more

I needed 2 tires and wheel alignment. Drove in, left, then returned precisely 90 minutes later to a job well done, at exactly the price that was quoted($293) . They didn't try to up-sell or tell me about other problems that my car may or may not have. An excellent experience. Tires are not as cheap as Costco, but Costco doesn't do wheel alignment. One stop shopping definitely has value here! read more

I found a coupon for a $24.95 oil change and took my car in at 11am. They were very nice and included a free tire rotation. After 20 minutes the guy came go me and told me my belt was cracked. I had them change it and I was out of there in an hour. I was very impressed with the service and will be back for all my cars needs. I highly recommend this place! read more

Great service! The staff was really helpful. My trunk was accidentally locked and couldn't be opened by the key and 'trunk botton' at all. I have mixed feelings about these guys. I've been going to them for the better of 12 years over the course of five cars. The upshot is that they have competitive pricing, and offer a reasonably priced road-hazard warranty with lifetime balance and rotation, compared to the highway robbery that some other places charge for those. I generally know what tires I want before I go there, so I call ahead and they usually have to order them. They ordered the wrong tires once, but got the right ones for me a day later. They often tell me that their warehouse says the tire I want is discontinued, when it is still be advertised by the manufacturer. I'm not quite sure what to think about that. When I've had nails in tires, they've been great about plugging the hole and they always apply a patch on the inside as well. No problems with any tire repair. They cracked my factory chrome-plated plastic lugnut covers once, after I checked them before dropping the car off and told them not to break them. They phoned me and told me they were already cracked and that someone must have used an air-impact wrench on them at some previous point -when they were the only people to ever touch my wheels. Next time I'll remove the covers first. Had to get new ones from a dealer. Another time the center-cap of a wheel came off on the drive home. I have to presume they damaged it. That cost me another trip to the dealer. They often tell me that tires that still have 2 years of wear left are in need of replacing. I politely nod and say "I know" and decline their offer, then stop in 2 years later to get replacements. When I come in for free rotation and balancing, I've found that they just rotate and don't balance. I had to sit out front and watch they guy rotate my tires without balancing them, and when I confronted the technician about it, he pointed to the work-order and said "Rotation isn't on the work ticket." I told him "I don't care, I told the guy at the desk I wanted them rotated and balanced, and I have lifetime rotate and balance on them, so take them back off and balance them." He took the work order to the desk guy and complained again that the work order doesn't have balancing on it. Desk guy told him to balance them. He finally did. -Do I really need to go through all that? Apparently, I do. Now I always sit out front by a parking lot lightpost as soon as they pull my car in, and I watch everything they do to make sure they do it right. I don't want to have to do that, I may have to find a new tire place. I buy an alignment every time I get new tires. They offer a "Free alignment check, -No charge if you don't need an alignment!!!" -Guess how often they check an alignment and discover it needs to be realigned? That's right. 100%. Just once I want to get an alignment somewhere else, then go directly to Wheel Works and have them check the alignment. But I don't have that kind of time. They offer one free re-alignment within 1 year of buying an alignment. I have had very good results with this. Just before one year is over, I take my car in and have them re-align it. They have always done this with no complaints, other than always telling me I need new struts. After ten years I finally did get new struts, but I bought the ones I wanted at Napa and had my dealership install them. Then I had Wheel Works do a free re-alignment, and they did a very good job. Just once I got an alignment and when I got the car back, it drove straight with the steering wheel at about 2 o'clock. I took it right back and simply told them "I can't drive it like this." -They put it back on the rack and fixed it. So I'm torn. I get okay service here, but I have to do some of the work myself: Making sure they put balancing on the work order, watching to make sure they do it, not replacing tires I don't need to replace, and not replacing struts I don't need to replace. I think their "free alignment check" is a ripoff. Look, you know if your car needs an alignment. Take it in when you need it. They usually take a few hours to get to my car. I walk to the coffee shop across the street, or shop at Target. I kind of feel like they'd rather sell me what they have than what I want, so they don't have to order something special, but the tire they recommended does appear to get good reviews. Just know what you need before you go here and don't buy in to any "Hey, guess what else you need!" sales pitches and you should do okay. Minus two stars for regularly trying to rip me off. [Update: I now go to the WheelWorks down the street on El Camino in Sunnyvale. They're a little better but still want to replace tires that have 2 years left on them.] read more

This place is a joke.I made a reservation five days in advance to get four tires replaced,the guy on the telephone told me that we have your tires in stock and to just come on in as everything was all set to go.When I got there for my appointment,they did not have my tires in stock so they sent one of their employees to go get them from another "Wheel Works" shop.When that employee got to the shop where my tires were he was told that those tires were "outdated".After wasting my entire Sunday morning the tire salesman said that he would give me a deal on a set of tires because he wasted my time,he then offered me 5 whole dollars off a set of 4 tires if I would return to buy them!!! read more

I made an appointment at 11am for an oil change yesterday, Friday Sept 29th and it was a good experience arrived on time and left the car after being told it will be ready in an hour. Before the time was up, I got a call saying they did an engine check in the car and it showed It needed a tune-up. I said ok do it. When I asked what time it will ready, they said in about two hours as they needed to order the spark plugs. I said I'll just pick up the car and will be back in the afternoon or the following morning. I paid the oil change bill and was given a list of recommended works to be done on the car, costing almost $400.- Second time, I was back that afternoon, at 4pm, about two hours before closing (6pm), as that I was told will be the lenght of time needed, but then was told its too late to work on it, so I said ok, I'll be back the following day, made an appointment at 1pm, Sat Sept 30th. Third time I arrived at my appointed time. The guy in the counter had a hard time looking for my record in the computer, when he finally found it, he told me the car will be ready at 6pm. I asked why such a long wait, 5 hours!!! I have an appointment at 1pm. He brusquely said there are a lot of customers and they are short staffed. I said that is not my problem I have an appointment but instead of arguing further, I just left, thinking what horrible customer service!!! I do not know what system this place has, they must be recommending work on cars to sell services they cannot deliver due to time constraints and lack of workers....and to hell with customer after they say yes...LET THEM WAIT FOR HOURS. Wasn't a customer but I accidentally locked my keys and my phone in the car and when I went in to ask for help they were very helpful they let me us their phone to call for help but when it was going to take to long for the tow to get there they lent me a hanger and showed me how to use it to unlock the car. I just wish I could give a 10 star rating they were just so helpful to me. read more

These guys helped me out when I was in a bind. It was 5:30pm on a weekday and I was stranded with a flat tire. Through the help of a friend I was able to put on the spare tire and drive over to Wheel Works. I called in advance and let them know of my situation and they said that they'd do their best to help me when I arrived. A big thanks to them for not turning me away so close to the end of their work day. Once I got there, I was greeted by the friendliest staff. They walked me through my tire options and the pros and cons of each. I appreciated that they weren't trying to just sell me on the most expensive tires that fit my car. They quoted me an hour turnaround time and they finished in 30. Great service. read more

I've been going here for quite a while, and the service has slowly gotten worse, and I final hit the final straw. I had road hazard insurance which should have covered both front tires which had bubbles in the side walls. I called to order new tires. I called for status, and got "I need to check with the warehouse, I'll call you back". The guy never called me back. A week later, I called again, and again, the guy never called me back after checking. This went on for five weeks. (after the third week, I was assured that I would be contacted and kept up to date on the status, but no one ever called). Final, I called, and was told that they had no order for me, but sure they could get the tires for me tomorrow. They got the tires in, and long story short, I was told that the insurance wouldn't cover the tires because there was no record of an alignment. These guys are the only ones who had touched my wheels, ever. So they either didn't do their job, or they didn't record that they had done their job. Either way, the best deal that they could come back with was that they would match the internet price (which I could have gotten on the internet 5 weeks ago). After spending the entire afternoon there, I had no more patience. I paid, and left infuriated. I emailed their corporate office, seeing if anyone there would care about loosing a customer. I got an automated "I'm out of the office" response", and that was it, haven't heard anything else for more than two weeks. They don't care about your business, so you shouldn't spend your money there. read more
