Unsure how long tire replacements typically take but I was happy that they didn't go over the 90 minutes quoted. Very nice and patient service from the technicians here. When you buy tires online, It looks like tires get shipped out on Thursday, and arrive on Monday. After the tires come in, you can book an appointment, but they book about a week out. After you book a tire appointment, be prepared to wait. My car sat in the parking lot for about 75 minutes before it was brought into the bay to get the new set of tires. I'm not sure the cheaper price is worth the hassle compared to by local shop. read more

We visited 3 other car/tire places before we went to the Mountain View Costco. 2 of the three noted there was something wrong with one of the tires (one said a dent) as to why they couldn't balance the tires properly. So we decided to purchase 2 new tires from Costco. Tires for EVs can be slightly different from gasoline cars; we have a 2023 Ioniq5 from Hyundai. When I went to the Mountain View place to have the tires put on, i told the guys to look at the dent, and the balancing weights, to try and understand why the tires couldn't be balanced. Jose Haro worked on our car. He looked the tires over, and suspected a problem with the road-noise-dampening insulating pad that goes inside EV tires. And he found exactly that! He replaced the foam pad and asked me to try out the car on the freeway - without any new tires. I did so, and the terrible vibration (at high speeds) was gone! The tires were balanced; he noticed no dent. He said Costco will not charge for the new tires we had ordered (they kept them). We paid only for his work and the new insulating pad. Thank you Jose! I visited this Costco Tire Center on 7/22 to have my tires rotated as I do every 8k miles. Everything was routine until I picked my car up and drove home. On my drive home my tires were making a noise as if I was driving over rumble strips like a clunking noise everytime the tire rotated. The next day while driving on 101, when I reached highway speeds the noise got louder and everytime I would try to brake my steering wheel would shake violently. I called Costco and scheduled to bring it in after work. That day when I brought it in I explained the noise and steering wheel shaking. They inspected the tires and their work from the previous day and informed me that the reasoning was that the left front tire wasn't fully screwed on. Some of the bolts were left unscrewed. Can you believe that?! I understand they are busy but to not have supervisors checking their work and signing off as they are supposed to or worse, signing off on something that was not checked. I've been a lifelong Costco customer and I find this unacceptable. Aside from my safety driving on the highway 70+ mph with lose tire bolts, this has potential to damage other car components, making the situation more complicated. It was explained to me in a way like it wasn't a big deal, no apology, no explanation. Just a this is why that happened explanation, you should be good now. I took my car home, the next day the steering wheel was not violently shaking but the thudding every time the tire rotated persisted. I called them again and brought my car for the 3rd time on 7/24. I was told that the noise was happening because my tires had uneven wear on them due to that being the first time that my tires were being rotated since purchase in 2020. WRONG. It was my first time rotating my tires at this tire center. Every previous rotation was done at the Costco Tire Center in Redwood City which I asked them to check their computer to verify. According to them, they cannot access other location info as their systems aren't synced with eachother. Their explanation makes no sense as I have regularly rotated my tires to preserve the safety and life span of the tires. Once that excuse did not work, they explained that they arent mechanics but their guess is that the suspension on my Honda Accord was "sagging" and that's what caused the noise. The explanation given was just to get me out of the door.  Their "fix" was to reverse the rotation and leave them as they were originally. The noise persisted after their suggested "fix". The next day I took my car to Expert Auto Care on Leghorn for my mechanic to check out the suspension. I explained the situation to him and he inspected the suspension. Per my mechanic, Christian, absolutely nothing is wrong with my suspension - it is not sagging or damaged. I am left baffled by this experience with Costco. I have sent them so many tire customers and promoted their Citi credit card due to the price of tires and supposed warranty which was not even mentioned as an option during any of my visits. Their warranty states "All passenger, performance and light truck tires sold through Costco Wholesale are covered by a 5-year Road Hazard Warranty protecting customers against treadwear damage and tire failure. Costco Wholesale will repair or replace tires damaged during standard legal vehicle operation" I guess not? Could it be that they rather have me purchase new tires instead of honoring the warranty? Im leaving this review because Im coming up on needing new tires for my second vehicle and I can't get myself to bring it in to Costco for the new tires. TIRE CENTER CUSTOMERS BEWARE. read more

huge scratch on car after service, never had this happen before- check your car after you pick it up for body damage. They also left trash. Disrespectful. How does this happen? Looks like a deliberate angry huge scratch. Found on door when I got home. It's not like I had any interaction before service. I went back and filed a report and sure enough they claimed they weren't at fault. Never had this happen, but after reading reviews seems like a place of angry inept workers and management. I will avoid breaking and damaging further with their shoddy " services". I hope they get sued and fired all of them. If you feel the need to gamble with them damaging your car in their " service ", take many pics of your car before, time stamped. But I don't know if they will ever admit fault, seems their corporate way to pretend it wasn't them, because they must get away with this repeatedly. read more

Made an appointment online. Took 1.5 hours for beautiful new tires to be put on my car. I assumed it wouldn't take more than an hour to get it done. Silly me! Costco carries some of the best rated tires for my car for a good price! Michael is very patient and helpful. I'm sorry I was a needy customer, I had a cold and fatigue, so it was harder than normal to walk around the parking lot to look for my car. My car was parked so neatly and precisely in the spot that I couldn't see it because other cars were sticking out. My new tires feel amazing! I would definitely have my tires replaced at Costco again, but I would go on a day that I don't feel sick and maybe bring my bicycle so I don't have to wander around Ross and Costco to kill time. Or maybe drop car off and try that Pho place in the same shopping center. Either way, you gotta find things to do while they put new tires on. read more

My car had a flat tire valve break, so I got two new tires and the valve fixed. This happened in January and they did it promptly, but broke a different valve on one of my other tires. They said a new guy broke it and they fixed it for free, so I didn't have any real issue with it. However, they also broke the tire pressure sensor, so my car dash was consistently on. I went back and they said they broke that as well (but never told me about any of these things breaking until I went back). They said they would fix it for free and ordered the new part but it would take a few weeks. I said okay and left This was in January. Between January and April/May I came back every 2/3 weeks to check and they always said they were waiting on the part and had a backlog and huge waits because of the supplier or something. This whole time, I'm still having to use my car to drive multiple hours every week, now with no way to know if one of my tires is having air pressure issues Finally, it was suggested by a friend to ask for the employee I talked to's name, their manager's name, and records of my first time there. I went back, they gave me the same 2-3 weeks answer. I did what was suggested, and later that day they called me saying they actually did have the part. I came back in and they fixed it in half an hour This was the worst customer service experience and worst auto care experience I've ever had, and the tire prices weren't even that good. Michael was super helpful. Thank you! He told me about my options and even tried to gently dissuade me from my choice in order to save me some money. I went in for a walk-in without an appointment. They were done in about an hour and called me while I was getting a haircut at Supercuts where I am told "All dads go to get a haircut". The pricing was attractive and clear compared to other vendors. The other stores added Lifetime new tire wheel balance ($16.99 per tire) and Road hazard warranty ($29.40 per tire). The price of the Tire pressure kit and labor was also lower at Costco. If this tire goes on sale I am hoping to get some money back but that's on me and not on the tire team. The negative reviews here taught me about what to look out for. I did and these guys passed every test. The tire pressure was perfect after the install and the car is much easier to steer. I am sorry about the negative experience they faced. Maybe the team has changed or someone was having a bad day. Who knows? I am full of gratitude towards Michael and the folks who did the work. I made an appointment at Costco tire center to have my Costco purchased tires rotated. This was the fifth time getting them rotated on this set. I was informed that they would not rotate them anymore as their equipment wasn't capable of lifting my vehicle(Dodge Sprinter van 2500). Keeping in mind this is the same vehicle that they happily rotated my tires numerous times before using their lifting equipment. I've never had a bad experience with Costco before now. The price is the same for everyone, so I know that I'm not being taken advantage of by some idiot who thinks I don't know anything about tires. It's true, I don't know anything about tires... but I'm slow to make any financial decisions, so anyone trying to get me to open up my wallet to buy anything in a hurry, is wasting their time. I always get the most expensive tires here. They last forever. My most recent set of four tires got me from Northern Virginia to Los Angeles via Atlanta, Austin, and Santa Fe. Then, from Los Angeles to the SFBA. Then, from the SFBA to Portland to Seattle and back to the SFBA. I traveled to lots of national parks and state parks on the West Coast on the weekends. Lots of coastal drives to Big Sur. All these miles and not one nail. Not one tear. Love Costco Tire Center!! The rest of Costco, I don't care for - I never go in there because it's just too big and I'm not wasting time walking around indoors to look at a bunch of stuff. Why would I need a dozen giant-sized boxes of cereal? Or fifty rolls of toilet paper? I wouldn't even know where to store any of that stuff. I'm not paying for warehousing. Got a flat while I was driving. Turns out I had damaged my tire and I didn't know what to do. Went to Costco tire Sunday 5/1 at around 10am and Jose helped me out!! It was a hot Sunday morning but he provided customer service above and beyond what was expected or promised. He and his team are amazing and I couldn't have had a better experience at the mechanics. The tire shop is relatively small. Only 4 bays and only saw them use two. With half the crw just chit chatting or double teaming on one car that was still going way to slow. They did not open a second before 9am and even though I was first with an appointment today i had to leave at 10:30 as they still hadn't touched my car. Probably had only finished 3 others. I went to Costco tire center in Mountain View on Wednesday, to inquire about the Michelin deal they're having if you buy 4 tires. The gentleman Steve (supervisor) helped me even though he was busy pulling a pallet of delivered items. He went out checked my tires to see what kind of tires I needed. I found out that the kind of tires I needed are popular. Because Tesla cars used same tires. Low profile sports tires. Between Jodi and Steve they try to find me the right tires I needed. Jodi said there were 2 in stock. So Jodi called Michelin company and they told her it's back order about 2 weeks. Steve's goes back and recheck the stock in the back and found 1 more. So he called another Costco store to check if they have it in stock and found they do. He asked me if I want to go to the other Costco and buy them there and have them installed for me. I said no, because I live closer to this Costco. He asked me if I want to buy the tires that he will personally picked up the 1 extra tire I needed to complete the set. I set up the appt with Jodi and couple days later I came back. Steve also called me early that morning to let me know that might be delayed in picking up the tire. So I said it's okay. I thank him for letting me know in advance. He was so professional and called me again later on to let me know he got the tire. My car was ready less than an hour later. My point is Steve was super kind and a very hardworking man. He went above and beyond his duty to helped me as a customer. He even installed my tires. I'm so happy with my new tires! I've seen this gentleman twice. 2 different days and I've noticed that he worked hard he does everything in that tire center. From helping costumers checking their tires in the parking lot, to answering phones, process payments, ordering parts, helping and assisting the workers and install tires!!! Ps. A big thank you also to the lady, Jodi she was very knowledgeable about tires. She educated me on tires and also inform me about the special warranty on the new tires I just bought. This is my first time going to this location and I really like this Costco Tire center. The receptionist always answer the phone lines with great customer service and are accommodating. The parking lot is a bit crazy but the tire center makes it durable. Recently I had a massive screw driver stuck in my tire and the tire center was able to replace my tire since I had purchase them under warranty with no issues. Service took less than 2hrs. read more

I can confirm that the bad reviews below regarding bad customer service are accurate. It seems like they go almost out of their way to accuse and blame the customer. I came in to have my tires warranteed out because I've only gotten 30k out of them and they have a 60k Michelin mileage warranty. After looking up my purchase on the computer he accuses me of having already gotten these tires via a mileage warranty in 2017....ummm no, I bought tires online at costco.com but the SJ Costco tire shop would not install them because the speed rating was too low. So I ended up getting refunded via a Costco cash card and then paying +$100 for the tires I have now. At least ask questions before you start accusing customers of trying to do something sketchy. Then he comes back after measuring my tires and said I was at 4 and 5/32". When I was at the SJ Costco tire center getting one of the tires patched 2 months ago I had them measure the tread and they came back with 3/32 on the front and 4/32 on the back....so how the heck did I get more tread put on my tires?? So I asked to see the readings and I see that he measures the meatiest part of the tread and says thats how much tread is left even though the rest of the tread on the rest of the tire is worn down 1/32" more. Then I told him that I contacted Michelin directly because I wasn't happy with only getting half of the stated mileage warranty and they said that they'd be willing to help me out once the tires get down to 3/32. Then he said that they do their own tire warranty and that they can only warranty them once they get down to 2/32, so I said I'd like to use the Michelin warranty since they're willing to warranty them earlier. Then he said "talk to the manager, he'll be in tomorrow morning".......as he was saying this I'm looking at his shirt that has 'Supervisor' stitched on it.........LOL In my experience, costco employees are usually pretty cool and helpful but for some reason the workers in the tire dept at this store are just......(fill in the blank). I'd still consider getting tires at Costco but I'll just stick to getting my tires serviced at the SJ/Santa Clara costco tire dept's. Avoid this shop for sure. read more

Since my tires were purchased from Costco and fairly new, I took my car back to the Costco Tire Center on Rengstorff Ave. in Mountain View. They said they would look at the tire and fixed the problem under warranty. Since the radial tire was punctured on its shoulder, I wanted to learn more about repairing this kind of failure, so checked with America's Tire, my mechanic and reviewed "Tire Racks" online recommendations. All three sources were emphatic that you MUST replace any tire that is punctured in the SHOULDER or on the SIDE WALL. When I returned to pick up my car, I found that Costco had indeed repaired the puncture in the SIDEWALL with a plug instead of replacing the tire. When I complained, they told me "It would be all right" with a lot of attitude. They were clearly cutting corners so they would not have to replace my damaged tire under warranty even though that is the MUST DO standard practice for any puncture of this type. All of my future tire business for my three vehicles will go to America's Tire in Mountain View. read more

Steve, the Manager patiently redid the wheel balancing on my truck himself, when unable to ascertain what had been done, due to an employee having gone home early. Julio figured out how to remove my spare tire that had an unusual optional lock and had never before been removed or had tire pressure checked. I was shopping for a battery, and I ended up purchasing a group size 24F based on the reference book. Got home and found the old one in my car is a size 35. So I called today to get clarification on the differences. The person who answered the phone (no accent) gave me the incorrect price information...he said they are both the same price and they are not. Then I asked about the CCA for each, and the numbers he provided were both incorrect. He said the 35 is 700 (it is 640) and the 24F is 800 (it is 700). If you are too lazy to look it up, at least say so and not provide customers incorrect information! read more

We wanted the Michelin Tire deal, they were offering. Wanted to replace all 4 on the Toyota Hybrid, 4 door sedan. Should have been a walk in the park, right? NOT, total FAIL. Took a few tries to reach someone, concerning the GREAT DEAL. At least he did, inform us about some of the fine print, an extra 15 for each tire, then a fee to dispose our old tires, then another fee, and this was not looking like much of a deal, with all the nickle and dime extras. Well, can we make an appointment? Now, the real fun begins . . . you're right, we didn't quite see it that way? He can't make an appointment for us, just go to the website, we could make one there. We'd already been to the website, trying to make an appointment, an got this number. Okay, back to the website, she tried, I tried, using all of my spectacular google skills. Tried calling back, GO TO THE WEBSITE. TRIED AGAIN, no link, so we tried another website. TOYOTA, which gave us a super deal, including transport home so we didn't have to wait. A couple of things. First, we were waiting for some tires on backorder. The lady told us to call back in a couple of weeks to check. I did, and she said the manufacturer said they did not know when they would be shipping them. We figured we'd have to research some new tires. But a couple of weeks later my husband checked the website and they said in stock - we called, and they were, so that was good. Got them installed. After that I took car for maintenance and dealer couldn't do a brake check because one of the lug nuts was on so tight they were afraid they would break it. Suggested I take it back to whoever installed it. Called Costco and they said, yeah we knew that, the guys "added a note" to the back of the printed receipt. Does everyone but me read every detail of a printout from a routine tire installation? When I go to my dealer, Jiffy Lube, or another mechanic, if there is an issue that is out of the ordinary, they not only put it in the paperwork, but MENTION IT TO THE CUSTOMER SO THEY KNOW ABOUT IT. Great tire service area which has always been very prompt with helpful employees in the years I have been going here. This time was a bit different. Had to make sure I got the right tire price because I was not lead to the cheapest reasonable priced tire from the minute I walked in. When I made my final purchase, I let the employee know where my tire lock was. Unfortunately, the employee might have been too busy to let a worker know. That worker thrashed my car looking for the tire lock while for whatever reasoning tearing up my trunk for it. Of course, the board that protects my spare tire below was broken. Even the tired looked messed with. As i fixed my whole trunk and tried organizing I became concerned about things being taken or broken in the search. Luckily, it was just what it was: a chaotic and angry search for the tire lock. Finally, someone called me and I let them know where it was not realizing my car was already thrashed before the call. Very disappointing service and communication with staff. I will think about just going elsewhere for my tire service since the workers here don't seem very communicative and don't seem to tolerate unexpected situations very well . read more

I am writing this review because I feel obligated and responsible in warning others about the negligence I discovered. I had 4 tires changed here. Driving to work the next morning, the TPMS light went on (not unusual after a tire change). About an hour after returning home in the evening, I checked the tire pressure assuming only a quick confirmation and TPMS reset was needed. The driver side tires were within 2 PSI of the recommended pressure (38 PSI). The passenger side tires were at 50 and 52 PSI. The max inflation pressure of the tire itself is 50 PSI. Tire temperature was at about 80F (measured with an infrared thermometer). Do not trust their work unless changes are put in place to ensure this does not happen again. Tires are an important part of your vehicle safety and the vehicles/people around you. 52 PSI is dangerous. I don't want anyone to have a blowout because of this negligence. If you have your tires changed here, please double check their work. read more

Poor service, long wait times... Never called me to say tire arrived. Given the same story when I got there and ...1 hr 1/2 later. There are 2 cars ahead of you The line did not move until I complained that I did not see any progress after 2 1/2 hours. I give one star because George was sincerely apologetic. But he said he will definitely speak to streamline his crew. But until that happens, I will go to the Mountain View Costco that is much more professional. read more

Let me preface this with, I don't really use my Costco membership to the fullest. I do the occasional bulk shopping, but that's about it. I recently got a flat tire on my rear passenger side. My husband and I took my car to a nearby auto shop and they found a nail in the tire which gave me a slow leak. They said it wasn't fixable because it was too close to the edge. We then took it to no less then another 4 shops and they all said the same thing, that it was unfixable and cannot be patched. So I gave in and purchased a tire online at Costco, waited for it arrive at the Mt View store and then made my appointment. Brought my car in, they checked me in, then I went inside the store to walk around while they replace my tire. I was in the store no more than 15 minutes when I got a call to please come back out to the garage. Jodi helped me and asked why I was replacing the tire. I told her what happened and she totally disagreed. Said that it was an easy fix and that probably all the other shops wanted me to buy a new tire. She told me to go back inside and get a refund on my tire and then come back out. She pulled the nail out, patched my tire and it was no charge!!! A huge shout out to Jodi for the excellent customer service and going the extra mile to letting me know about the easy fix. read more

Changed tires here today. Didn't order online, just walked in, asked if they have a right tires for my Honda Civic. They've offered a good deal with Bridgestone and I took it. It took them less than an hour to install the new tires and I got a call that my car is ready. I'm really pleased with the service and cost! read more

Horrible experience. I was dropping off a car as a favor for someone else. Tires were already paid for, appointment was already made. I showed up 30 minutes before my appointment (they suggested 15) only to be directed to a line managed by one person. No one else in front of me had an appointment, and they were taking their time picking out tires and asking questions. All I needed to do was drop off the key. I recommended America's Tire to my friend, where I got my tires replaced and fixed. They also do free patches. I'm a huge Costco fan but not for tires. read more

I don't rate this low lightly. However, I had an abysmal experience buying tires for my 4Runner from these guys. I bought my set of tires and they were great. The price was right and they turned around my order quickly enough. The problem came after I left. My tires weren't in balance. When I returned to Costco, and told the manager of the tire center that the balance wasn't right on the tires, he replied in a rather snide way "What makes you think that?" When I explained that the steering wheel shaked, as well as the rear of the vehicle, at around 65 m.p.h., he agreed to rebalance the tires. The second attempt at balancing the tires still didn't work. The balance improved, but it still shaked around 65 m.p.h. A couple days later I was heading across state and on my way out, I stopped off at the Danville Costco to have them give it a try. They screwed it up even more than the MV guys did, and even told me that two of my wheels were bent. After driving over to the Sierras and back, worried the entire time that I had bent rims, I jacked up the car and checked the rims and they are not bent. Way to serve your customers, Danville! So I return to the MV Costco and ask them to replace the tires. Bridgestone has a 30-day test drive policy and I decided that another set might balance better. The Costco manager was the same bright ray of sunshine I dealt with before. After arguing with me that my supposed bent rims would not allow them to properly balance, he relented and ordered the replacement set of tires. Today I had the replacement tires installed. Before I returned the old tires, I washed the wheels so there wasn't going to be any excuses on their part why they couldn't accept the return. After I got the new set of tires and inspecting the installation, I found my wheels are now chipped and scratched severely. The rims, which I strive to take care of, are completely chewed up. Having just washed them, I know what condition they were in beforehand. Now I am left with the dilemma of trying to do battle with these clowns again or just let it go. I hate this situation. Awesome service and great warranty on tires. My mother's car had a leak due to a nail. Dropped of the car, did some shopping, and came back to a fixed car. Best option: Drop off car before 11AM. Don't go in at 1PM thinking you will get it back ASAP. You cranky people make me cranky, and my tire technicians cranky. Patience is a virtue we all strive for. I found a screw in my front tire and thought I'd be doomed and would have to purchase a new one. My first stop was Costco tire center since I figured I'd check their prices first and could also get my grocery shopping done at the same time. Turns out all I needed was a little rubber peg they stick in the hole that the screw created. Within 30 minutes I had my car loaded with food and my tire fixed. The best thing about it: it cost me $4. That's the cheapest car repair I've ever heard of!!! read more

The Costco guys scratched 3 of 4 wheels and make a dent on my wheel while replacing tires. I showed them the scratches right after got my car back, but they deny that it's their fault. All scratches are radial and dent is covered by tire - there is no way I can make them when driving. I filed a claim, but they closed the case because they believe to their employees and don't believe to their customers. Never gonna use Costco tire replacement service again!!! read more

Look, I understand people are going to go to Costco Tire because the price is hard to beat plus the warranty/service. But that doesn't mean you should go to THIS Costco Tire. I was thoroughly disappointed and frustrated with my experience with this tire center. I first ordered my tires and went in to have them installed at my appointed time. When I got there, they informed me the tires had been ordered wrong and needed to be re-ordered. They told me they were "rushing" the order and it would be in within 2-3 days. After a week.... I called back and checked - they said the tires weren't in yet but would be "soon". Two weeks after THAT, I called and they again said they didn't have my tires but would be in soon. I complained up the chain to the manager, who called me back and told me that the tires were in fact already there. Not a single apology along the way. I scheduled an appointment for later that week. Two days later (the day before my appointment), I got a voicemail from Costco, informing me that they were going to return my tires because they had been sitting around so long and I hadn't made an appointment.
