My mother-in-law is elderly and getting around with her took more time than expected. Still, we arrived at the staging area and the staff was still very pleasant and accommodating. You can tell they were getting us to hurry because they know the area would be overrun with other tour groups. They really wanted us to have the best time and experience there. And they sat us in a very good spot for the Wednesday audience with the Pope. I would definitely recommend this company.

He is definitely highly recommended. He is an archaeologist as well so he had a lot of fascinating things to share with us. We actually ran into him on three separate occasions in Rome by chance and he was great to talk to each time. The Colosseum tour we took also included the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill (both even more fascinating than the Colosseum in my opinion). The Vatican tour was with Claudia and she was equally as knowledgeable and fun! She obviously knew the folks she needed to to get around in this massive complex without having to wait for anything. The "no-line" entry most tours get has lines here. She had the hookup to get us even past those lines. The tour starts through the Vatican Museum and it was very crowded at the time we were there. She fought to make room for us to get in front of the masses to get a close look at all the things she wanted us to see. It was great to see her genuinely care about our experience. Just about every other tour group we saw in this places had at least 30 people in them. Both tours we took with Real Rome Tours had less than 10. We all had an equal opportunity to experience these beautiful sights with great knowledgable folks who even stuck around to answer any questions we had. They also give great recommendations on restaurants and other places you need to see while in Rome. Gerard was also a pleasure dealing with while booking our tours. He is well organized and gave us a great alternative when we wanted to do the Colosseum Underground tour that wasn't available. It worked out perfectly for us. I couldn't recommend Real Rome Tours any more.

The route covers many of the city's highlights including the pilazzos and Vatican areas. Buses ran every 15-20 minutes minimizing waiting time and allows for flexible sightseeing throughout the day. An audio guide was available in multiple languages and provides useful historical context. Earphones were included in the price. The Big Bus staff recommended you do the full tour first and then come back the second time and get off at your favorite spots. The full tour was one hour and 45 minutes. The open-top seating offered great views and scenic vistas. A two day pass was ideal because you can take a full tour on day one and then on day two visit your favorite spots or a combination thereof. The only downside was sometimes the bus arrived at your stop full. Ticket prices were very economical via Expedia. You could not beat the convenience of not having to map out your day and not worrying about driving or parking.

Jany was straightforward,…read morehonest, and incredibly helpful in planning our private tour of Rome during our cruise stop. She warned us about possible last-minute changes when booking tours through some third-party platforms and recommended a reliable ticket broker for our Vatican Museums and Colosseum tickets in case we were unable to get the tickets ourselves. That advice was extremely helpful. Another huge advantage was that Rome In Limo is licensed to enter the tender area at the Port of Civitavecchia. Our driver, Alberto, was waiting with a sign with my name literally about 50 feet from the ship! With some other companies, you may have to make your way outside the port to meet your driver, which can be a hassle. Alberto was prompt, super friendly, and went above and beyond for us. We were having trouble communicating with the operator of a buggy tour we wanted to arrange at our next stop in Ajaccio, Corsica. Alberto stepped in, spoke with the operator in Italian, and helped us get everything sorted out. We really appreciated him doing that for us! Our guides for the Roman Forum/Colosseum and the Vatican Museums were both excellent. Our Colosseum guide took us through a less-crowded entrance where there was literally no one in front of us. Alberto also handled all of our drop-offs and pickups perfectly. At the Vatican, having a guide allowed us to use the direct passage from the Vatican Museums to St. Peter's Basilica, avoiding another long line outside. It was a long and very hot day, but everything went incredibly smoothly and efficiently. There was even a road closure due to a fire on our way back to the ship, but Alberto was communicating with his network to find the best detour and still got us back to the port with plenty of time to spare. We were able to see and experience so much of Rome in the limited time we had in port. Great planning, excellent guides, and outstanding service from Alberto. We couldn't have asked for a better family experience in Rome!

I booked a Colosseum guided tour through LivTours for my family during a long planned trip to Rome,…read moremeant to celebrate my son's graduation from Lehigh University and my daughter's high school graduation. Instead of a memory to celebrate, we left with one none of us will forget for the wrong reasons. LivTours guides do not give guests individual paper tickets. The guide holds all admission on an electronic ticket and hands each guest a small sticker as the only proof of entry. On an extremely hot day, my sticker came loose. Our guide walked ahead with two other guests to the bookshop and, by her own account, only glanced back and saw our group heading toward the exit. She never confirmed we actually made it out and never checked that each of us still had proof of admission. When I reached the exit checkpoint, staff asked for my ticket. I had none, because LivTours never gave me one. I was told it was illegal to be in that area without a valid ticket, pulled aside, and questioned. The police were called. I stood there while my wife and children watched and had to step in to try to help me. My wife eventually pulled up our purchase receipt on her phone, and that is the only reason I was allowed to leave. LivTours admitted in writing that the guide saw our group heading toward the exit and left without confirming we made it out. She did not secure our exit. She did not check that everyone in the group actually cleared the checkpoint before she walked off with two other guests to the bookshop. Making sure a group actually exits a controlled site, not just watching them walk in that general direction, is a basic responsibility of a tour guide, especially one holding the only ticket that gives that group the right to be there in the first place. As an African American man in a foreign country, being publicly stopped, questioned, and detained by police in front of my family was humiliating in a way that is hard to put into words. This was supposed to be a trip celebrating my children's accomplishments. Instead they watched their father get pulled aside like a criminal because a tour guide walked away without making sure we had what we needed to leave. A LivTours representative called me shortly after and told me directly that a refund would be issued. Weeks later, after I put the complaint in writing, LivTours reversed course completely. They now claim the tour was "completed as planned" and that the incident was outside their control. Their own emails contradict that. They admit their guide saw us walking toward the exit and left without confirming we got out safely. They admit they do not provide physical tickets to guests. Those two facts together are exactly why this happened, and it happened because of how LivTours operates, not because of anything my family did. I would not recommend LivTours for any tour requiring facility exit past a checkpoint. Ask directly whether you will receive an individual physical ticket before you book, and get it in writing. We booked and paid for a private yacht experience that advertised stunning views of the Amalfi Coast, swimming in the Mediterranean, champagne and drinks, sun coverage, comfortable seating, and bathroom access. Instead, the company overbooked due to greed rather than any concern for creating a beautiful experience for their "guests." When we arrived, our group of seven was placed onto a small dinghy that appeared to be intended only for transporting guests from shore to the actual yacht. It was essentially a blow-up boat with seating for maybe five people, yet they expected seven passengers to ride in it on rough water. The dinghy was completely unsuitable for this excursion. There were not enough seats, the ride was extremely rough on the choppy water, and because the boat sat so low, we were constantly splashed and soaked by seawater. We spent the entire ride gripping onto the sides just to avoid being thrown around or bounced out of the boat. By the end, we were sore, exhausted, sunburned, and miserable. None of the promised amenities were provided. There were no drinks or champagne, no opportunity to swim in the Mediterranean, no bathroom access, and no shade or cover from the intense sun. Not even a bottle of water was offered. They expected us to pay over $200 PER PERSON for this experience with absolutely nothing included. What was marketed as a luxury yacht excursion was nothing more than being crammed into an unsafe and uncomfortable transport boat. The most upsetting part was the complete lack of safety precautions. My daughter was terrified the entire time. No one explained where life jackets were located or what to do in case of an emergency. The entire operation felt careless, unprofessional, and potentially dangerous. After reporting our experience to the company, their response was that they would "take a loss" if they refunded us. A loss? The dinghy was clearly already being used that day as a transport boat, and it was nowhere close to the private yacht experience we paid for and were promised. The company is called "Can't Be Missed Tours"? More like PLEASE miss this. DO NOT book with this company unless you are comfortable showing up expecting a yacht excursion and instead being thrown onto a crowded blow-up boat. Completely unacceptable and deeply disappointing.

I was told to be at their main offices at 7:30am sharp on a Saturday morning but the doors/gates were closed as of 7:15am. An employee of a nearby merchant was insistent that I was waiting in the wrong spot for my tour, stating that the street leading to the office was extremely narrow and no way a tour bus would fit down the block leading to their office. Since the office was a block away from Roma Termini station, he made good logic that perhaps I was supposed to board at Roma Termini. Needless to say this left me scrambling to run over to Roma Termini asking anyone I could find where this company tour bus was. After no help there I walked back to GLT offices and finally someone showed up to open the doors and gates closer to 8am than 7:30am which I was told. After two other folks showed up, my group was walked down the block to a waiting bus. The drive down to Mt Vesuvius was three hours long and without traffic on a Saturday morning. Two stops were made along the way, once at a shop that makes interesting jewelry pieces out of sea shells, to be honest it was clearly an opportunity to steer tourists to spend some money. I was lucky that the group of tourists on this trip knew this was the case and got back on the bus quickly after we were subjected to a short presentation of how they made the pieces. I understand this is how tours work but I'm just here for the main event. From there we made our way to the base of Mt Vesuvius and transferred to an open top bus. We met up with an outstanding tour guide there, extremely knowledgeable and super friendly. We spent about an hour walking around Mt Vesuvius then had to get back on the bus down the mountain. Honestly would have liked to have more time here but understand the schedule was tight. From there we headed to Pompeii and had lunch near the ruins. Lunch was included in the cost of the tour but honestly not great. Again I'm here for the main event not lunch. Pompeii was by far the highlight of the tour. We met up with an extremely knowledgeable tour guide there who provided a wealth of information. It was just an amazing experience to be in Pompeii and while I would have liked to have more time here, but again understood the tight schedule. While GLT can't take credit for the Pompeii ruins, they successfully transported me there and this was the highlight of my trip to Italy. If you take this tour know that it takes 3 hours each way. I took this tour after a week of 20k steps each day in Rome so giving my feet/legs a rest on a 6 hour drive wasn't a bad idea. Know that there will be one stopover to try and sell you stuff. Know that you will feel rushed but the experience, especially Pompeii will leave you fulfilled. I was lucky to take this tour before the busy season so traffic was lighter and there was a total of 6 people on my tour bus. The tour guides, tour lead, & bus driver couldn't have been better. So I deducted 1 star for the unnecessary grief to start the tour, if I was given the right information on when to show up, it would have been a 5.
