    Bus stop
    Gregory M.

They advertise a bus every 15 minutes but they only had one come every thirty minutes. We had to wait over thirty minutes in the pouring rain twice. They didn't have enough buses in the cycle and there wasn't an attendant at every stop.

    Phony timetable

Terrible. They advertise 8 minute for buses from April to October. If you are lucky it's only 2-3 times longer than that. And if you are again lucky the bus when it finally arrives won't be full. Will never use again. I bought a 48hr ticket for like 38$ each. After first day I threw the big bus ticket in garbage and bought a 72hr Roma pass for only 18$ good for all local buses trains and metros. Much better max 5-10 minute wait and get you very short walking distances to all the major sites and some hidden gems. Lesson learned for me. Don't fall for their phony advertising.

    Great walking tour

For the pricing you definitely can't go wrong with choosing big bus tours. I purchased he 3 day ticket which allowed me to go all over the city. The walking tours offered were also definitely a bonus if you can make time for them.

Stop #5 - Can you see it?

It is a false statement that they stop at every stop every 13 minutes. I waited over 40 minutes for a stop that took us 10 minutes to find (stop #5) because it is missing their actual sign. The other tour buses just kept on coming while a big group of waited. The buses are very crowded as a result. I will be using "I Love Rome - Gray line" our next time - 4 of those buses came while we waited. Don't waste your money. I gave it a one star because it wouldn't give me the option to select "0"!

30€/adult ticket. We found it to be an easy way to get around Rome and hit all of the famous sites of the city. We didn't experience any significant waits, maybe 10 minutes, so we were happy. When you get on, they give you headphones to plug into the bus which provides a recorded tour of everything that you are passing and can follow along with your map. You can hop on anywhere along the route, but the official starting point is the train station, Termini. Total route time is approximately 1 hour 40 minutes if you were to stay on and do it all in a single trip. Of note, the bus only runs clockwise. Very useful tool to get around Rome, I would do it again.

If you think like an American then you can find fault with anything in Italy. We started thinking past that and realized that if it weren't for the pushy sales guy on the street we might have not received the "nuggets" we got. If your not sure, buy the bus today for the next day and by the time you get your bearings you will want to hop on the bus. The frustrating thing is you never know what stop number or color you are at unless you have your paper guide. Even at that you can get turned around. Remember, if you get stuck just hop on an Uber or taxi and things will get better. My experience on the busses that were memorable were from Rosanna, Chiaravalloti, and Stefano the bus driver.

this is not a "hop on, hop off" bus. this is wait in line with a lot of people to get shoved on a bus with an impatient bus driver.

My mother-in-law is elderly and getting around with her took more time than expected. Still, we arrived at the staging area and the staff was still very pleasant and accommodating. And they sat us in a very good spot for the Wednesday audience with the Pope. I would definitely recommend this company.

He is definitely highly recommended. He is an archaeologist as well so he had a lot of fascinating things to share with us. We actually ran into him on three separate occasions in Rome by chance and he was great to talk to each time. The Colosseum tour we took also included the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill (both even more fascinating than the Colosseum in my opinion). The Vatican tour was with Claudia and she was equally as knowledgeable and fun! She obviously knew the folks she needed to to get around in this massive complex without having to wait for anything. The "no-line" entry most tours get has lines here. She had the hookup to get us even past those lines. The tour starts through the Vatican Museum and it was very crowded at the time we were there. She fought to make room for us to get in front of the masses to get a close look at all the things she wanted us to see. It was great to see her genuinely care about our experience. Just about every other tour group we saw in this places had at least 30 people in them. Both tours we took with Real Rome Tours had less than 10. We all had an equal opportunity to experience these beautiful sights with great knowledgable folks who even stuck around to answer any questions we had. They also give great recommendations on restaurants and other places you need to see while in Rome. Gerard was also a pleasure dealing with while booking our tours. He is well organized and gave us a great alternative when we wanted to do the Colosseum Underground tour that wasn't available. It worked out perfectly for us. I couldn't recommend Real Rome Tours any more.

He was personable, clear in his explanations, and attentive to our needs throughout the tour. What made it especially memorable was how he connected with our kids--getting them excited about gelato was a fun touch that they still talk about! The golf cart was a lifesaver, making it easy to visit several sites that would have been impossible to reach with a 5-year-old and 2-year-old in tow. We even opted for the cart to pick us up from the hotel so it was seamless from beginning to end. The car seat for our youngest was clutch. Actually the ride was so soothing that our 2 year old fell asleep for part of the trip. Chris also introduced us to the Roman Orange Garden, a peaceful spot we'd never have found on our own. While many sites in Rome are walkable, this tour gave us the freedom to explore comfortably as a family, and we truly appreciated the balance of convenience and insight. If you are someone who love to do all the research ahead of time, then maybe this tour is too surface level for you. I would recommend a more targeted tour for the Coliseum or Vatican City. Otherwise, I'd highly recommend LivTours--and especially Chris--for families looking for an stress-free way to experience Rome.

She said we could walk back into the last wing of the museum to see things on our own but security would not allow us to walk back in. We spent seconds / maybe minutes, looking at whole sections of art. She left almost no time to stand and look at things, everything was "ok let's keep going". Although we still enjoyed things, we definitely left extremely disappointed given the cost of the experience. She and her husband Petro own this company. Even if I didn't I would write a five star review for their tours becuase of the personal attention they give. It can be really expensive to take a shore excursion so you can book through the crusie line and pay or you can take your chances, you can take your chances with the tour operators you meet on the dock or you can do it on your own and hope you get back to the ship on time. They offer two tours. One is a walking tour in Rome. They meet you at the train station, take you through the sites of Rome-the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, Vatican Museum, etc..If you want to go into the Vatican Museum you have to pay the entry fee, but you won't have to stay in line. Sometimes it can be really long. I remember waiting at least forty minutes to get in on my own. The great thing is that they know the city well enough that they guarantee your on-time arrival. Which is great since I have been lost in Rome, and though it is beautiful it can be a little distressing. Just so you know, the busses run differently on Sunday.. They also offer a tour -Naples, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. For this tour they meet you at the dock and then take you in around in a bus showing you the beautiful sites. I haven't been but to Naples, but I can not wait. Oh and they are cheap. The Rome tour costs 59Euros and the Naples cost 65 Euros You get licensed English speaking guides who know the cities. I love that I can always get a good recommendation on where to get good gelato. I didn't know there could be bad gelato and really when you are in Italy there is good gelato and then just to die for heavenly gelato. Make sure you ask them for suggestions if you go!

I booked my tour…read moreto Mt Vesuvius/Pompeii from Rome BEFORE I saw these reviews and honestly if I did I wouldn't have booked it. I was told to be at their main offices at 7:30am sharp on a Saturday morning but the doors/gates were closed as of 7:15am. An employee of a nearby merchant was insistent that I was waiting in the wrong spot for my tour, stating that the street leading to the office was extremely narrow and no way a tour bus would fit down the block leading to their office. Since the office was a block away from Roma Termini station, he made good logic that perhaps I was supposed to board at Roma Termini. Needless to say this left me scrambling to run over to Roma Termini asking anyone I could find where this company tour bus was. After no help there I walked back to GLT offices and finally someone showed up to open the doors and gates closer to 8am than 7:30am which I was told. After two other folks showed up, my group was walked down the block to a waiting bus. The drive down to Mt Vesuvius was three hours long and without traffic on a Saturday morning. Two stops were made along the way, once at a shop that makes interesting jewelry pieces out of sea shells, to be honest it was clearly an opportunity to steer tourists to spend some money. I was lucky that the group of tourists on this trip knew this was the case and got back on the bus quickly after we were subjected to a short presentation of how they made the pieces. I understand this is how tours work but I'm just here for the main event. From there we made our way to the base of Mt Vesuvius and transferred to an open top bus. We met up with an outstanding tour guide there, extremely knowledgeable and super friendly. We spent about an hour walking around Mt Vesuvius then had to get back on the bus down the mountain. Honestly would have liked to have more time here but understand the schedule was tight. From there we headed to Pompeii and had lunch near the ruins. Lunch was included in the cost of the tour but honestly not great. Again I'm here for the main event not lunch. Pompeii was by far the highlight of the tour. We met up with an extremely knowledgeable tour guide there who provided a wealth of information. It was just an amazing experience to be in Pompeii and while I would have liked to have more time here, but again understood the tight schedule. While GLT can't take credit for the Pompeii ruins, they successfully transported me there and this was the highlight of my trip to Italy. If you take this tour know that it takes 3 hours each way. I took this tour after a week of 20k steps each day in Rome so giving my feet/legs a rest on a 6 hour drive wasn't a bad idea. Know that there will be one stopover to try and sell you stuff. Know that you will feel rushed but the experience, especially Pompeii will leave you fulfilled. I was lucky to take this tour before the busy season so traffic was lighter and there was a total of 6 people on my tour bus. The tour guides, tour lead, & bus driver couldn't have been better. So I deducted 1 star for the unnecessary grief to start the tour, if I was given the right information on when to show up, it would have been a 5.
