We did the Vatican City, Sistine Chapel, St Peter's Bascilica skip the line tour - and let me tell you "ROBERTA" was one of the most entertaining guides we have ever used! She had so much energy and you can truly see her passion for the arts. It was a warm day in July so make sure you're prepared with water and sunscreen. Also for inside the Vatican make sure you have your shoulders covered, they are pretty strict about this. I would recommend this tour for anyone visiting Rome, I'm not a big on religion but seeing all of the ancient architecture and art was really incredible!

We did the Pompeii and Naples 1-day tour through Gate One with this tour agency. The day before I called to confirm pick up time and they said 730AM pick up but our paper from gate one said to come an hour earlier than assigned time 730AM for pick up. Later that night, luckily, we were in the room and received a call to be picked up at 630AM. Next day 630AM: the minivan driver was nice enough to allow all of us five minutes to grab a quick breakfast at our hotel. He dropped us off at the main tour bus at 7AM for take off. The bus then departed at 720AM. Our bus guide was Steffano and driver Luigi. The official tour guide was a lady. They were very wonderful. One hour into the ride, we stopped at a visitor resting point for coffee & toilets. 90 minutes later we arrived at Naples and this was disappointing. 45 minutes walking through the city center, looking at buildings, and back into the bus. I was expecting to be at the coastal side for a close up picture of the shore/piers! Such a waste of valuable time. Then bus ride an hour later, we arrived at a restaurant for the included lunch. It was so mediocre. But I don't expect much when anyone says lunch with guided tour is included. We stayed for an hour. Then when I thought we were going into the excavation site finally, we stopped at a seashell/ jewelry shop for 30 minutes. Honestly this can be edited out of the itinerary. POMPEII entrance site was right next to it and I wished they mentioned that so we can just start ahead on our own instead of waiting around. Suggestion: They can briefly mention this place for those who want to visit/buy and the rest can go ahead. Finally the tour started and it was quick, about 1.5 hour total at the site. Our lady guide was great - very entertaining but I wished we had more time to freely roam INSIDE the site!!! Seriously, POMPEII site is SO BIG. I felt rushed. We didn't get to enjoy everything, just briefly the main stuff. I saw skeletal bones tucked away in the corner catching nobody's attention bc it was so incognito from the ancient vases showcasing, hence, throwing people off that the rest of the room wasn't interesting. Our tour guide didn't even walked to the bones to show the group but she probably didn't know? They all briskly left that room. We didn't venture beyond the center square at the end of the three mummies. After 1.5 hrs inside, I noticed she took us to the exit for a free 20 minutes time to roam, I turned back but we were already past the no entry sign and was stopped by the security guy... luckily I had proof that I was already here and didn't mean to exit. I rushed back in and tried to take the majestic of it all in. Later I found out from the divided group, the Spanish group who came with us, saw more things we didn't see. Then after 90 minutes on the return bus, we stopped at the same resting point for 30 minutes. Then another hour into Rome. I felt this rest was unnecessary because the lady guide already gave the group that half hour post exit of Pompeii to rest/ toileting. I was okay at this point, the group were of older people and I guess they needed more rest. Here is the worst part: at the drop off from the main bus, we were personally directed to the wrong minivan driver although I asked our guide twice and he pointed to the driver who doesn't speak English. I tried to show the driver my hotel name from my phone to confirm but he just gestured for me to get on the minivan. I already felt iffy when the first passenger was dropped off bc it was not on my side of town where my hotel is. After the driver dropped off most of the people, he asked us our hotel, we replied, and he said that our hotel was not on his list! After it was just us on the minivan, he said he can't do anything about us. We reasoned that this was not on us. GREY LINE is still liable but with a language barrier it was frustrating. He offered to take us to the agency or we pay him personally to take us to the hotel. I was vexed at this point. We refused to pay more for transportation so he took us to the agency. I called their local GL phone enroute (kudos here to google voice for 1 cent/ minute or my phone bill would be outrageous) about the situation and they spoke to each other. I was feeling so sketchy because we were at the very back of the minivan and climbing over seats to try to give my phone to the driver so he can talk with GREY LINE rep. First they said we ourselves asked to be dropped off with this group on that side of town, no we did not. Then at the agency, they said we went to the wrong driver, no we did not because we were pointed to him witnessed by other tourists. GL did step up and provided us a taxi to our hotel. Communication with the rep on the phone helped but the people at the agency didn't initiate to talk to us so I had to be cautious and asked everything twice for insurance.

Secret Food Tours offers three-hour long tours that take you on a gastronomical adventure throughout the heart of Rome. This experience is more than just delicious food, which is what makes Secret Food Tours so unique. The tour explores Piazza Navonna, a city square ripe with history, as well as the Campo Dei Fiori Market, offering sightseeing as well as culinary escapades. Along with four other visitors, we embarked on a daytime tour, which started at an intimate café in Piazza Novanna. Our tour guide Tomasso was a local Italian and incredibly knowledgeable about the city square and its rich background. Here, he introduced us to the finest Italian coffee, freshly brewed for our group. I sipped a cappuccino, which alerted my taste buds with rich, full-bodied flavor and an airy foam. I was awake and eager for the next stop. While enjoying three different types of real Roman style pizza at Forno Campo de Fiori, our tour guide made us feel so welcomed. He took great pride in his city, and it showed in his passion for both the locales and the food. Next we stopped at a specialty shop, known for fried balls of risotto, called Suppli, which basically solidified my trust in anything this delicious city had to feed me. Crispy on the outside, warm and creamy on the inside. I was excited to visit the Campo Dei Fiori Market, which as our guide informed us is the oldest market in the town. With so many fresh and beautiful vegetables, it's easy to see why the food in the area is incredibly tasty. I was pleasantly surprised to do some sightseeing during the tour, as we got to see some of the Roman ruins that dot the city and here a few stories of the many narrow streets. Whether it was Carbonara near the Jewish Ghetto, amazing cannoli at a legendary bakery, and salty Italian hams, salamis, and cheeses at 'Beppe', our guide always made us feel like locals. We ended on a sweet note with the most refreshing gelato. Our tour guide was so fun and friendly, and the food was exquisite. A real "taste" of Rome.

He was personable, clear in his explanations, and attentive to our needs throughout the tour. The golf cart was a lifesaver, making it easy to visit several sites that would have been impossible to reach with a 5-year-old and 2-year-old in tow. We even opted for the cart to pick us up from the hotel so it was seamless from beginning to end. The car seat for our youngest was clutch. Actually the ride was so soothing that our 2 year old fell asleep for part of the trip. Chris also introduced us to the Roman Orange Garden, a peaceful spot we'd never have found on our own. While many sites in Rome are walkable, this tour gave us the freedom to explore comfortably as a family, and we truly appreciated the balance of convenience and insight. If you are someone who love to do all the research ahead of time, then maybe this tour is too surface level for you. I would recommend a more targeted tour for the Coliseum or Vatican City. Otherwise, I'd highly recommend LivTours--and especially Chris--for families looking for an stress-free way to experience Rome.

She said we could walk back into the last wing of the museum to see things on our own but security would not allow us to walk back in. We spent seconds / maybe minutes, looking at whole sections of art. She left almost no time to stand and look at things, everything was "ok let's keep going". Although we still enjoyed things, we definitely left extremely disappointed given the cost of the experience. This tour was worth the money spent. First, you catch the train and meet with the tour guide. My tour guide was Max. He was super knowledgeable and had funny jokes throughout the tour. He's a local and has traveled to many countries outside of his town of Frascati. We take a little tour of the town and he gives some history and we went into some shops and the main church there. Next, we stopped into a bakery and sampled some cheap, house wine (as he calls it) that is saved for families to drink with some sweet cookies. We were instructed to dip the cookies in the wine. Delish! Prior to that we got a little same of roasted pork with the wine as a light snack. Then a taxi comes to pick us up and take the group to the vineyard. We tour the vineyard and take awesome pictures. There's an awesome view of Rome from the vineyard. We then went into the cellar where the wine is stored and got a very detailed tour of the underground and the winemaking process. Next, we enter the tasting room. We received 3 (1 white, q red , 1 dessert wine) quality Frascati wines paired with a white pizza, red sauce pizza and bread. Olive oil that they also make at the vineyard is on the table to sample. Throughout each wine tasting, Max teaches about the wine. Lastly! The taxi returned to take the group to have lunch at a local restaurant back in the town. We received an appetizer of arugula, sautéed zucchini, I think a sautéed mushroom and some meat. Then we got a small portion of a red sauce pasta and then a carbonara with bacon bits (they had pairings and lunch options for anyone who was vegetarian as well). I was just enough food to leave me satisfied. I really enjoyed this tour! The tour is from about 10:30am to 2pm (you can catch the 2:36pm train back to termini or stay and enjoy the town until about 9pm when the last train comes). The small group setting was great for a nice intimate tour, easy picture taking and getting all your questions in. There were 9 people in my group but the tour has a 15 person max. I booked this tour super last minute on my way from Spain and they were accommodating. My only con was email response was a bit slow. I just showed up in hopes I was confirmed. I'm so glad I went! I believe you can only pay in cash, so be mindful of that. Bottles of the red and white wines are 10€ and the dessert wine is 15€ (if I remember correctly). Wine purchases are in cash as well. But y'all, this tour made my trip! It was everything! Highly, highly recommend!
