I have to say i have had them do work for me a few times... Before they moved to Santa Clara. The quoting for me was fine but i have to agree with everyone with communication and time management. They really need to hire some phone operator to handle all the calls and do a better job ETA on deliverables. Everyone works hard there and so many times i see them go and answer phone and pull themselves of they're work. That slow everyone down. Second i am reading about quote issues and for what i understand yes it's $125 a rim starting but if you have a 2 piece/3 piece rims it could cost more and that is why the prices change when you bring your rim/s in. Some people don't even know they have 2 piece or even 3 piece rims. I don't know i have never been quoted more than $125 per rim and i have 2 piece rims that were bent, curbed, and re-welding needed. I don't know maybe it was the way i spoke to him? All in all i do like this shop but i would have to agree with everyone that the owner really needs to make some changes. I went here because I did not know where I could get my rim fixed, and a tire shop let their name slip and I found them from that. I had just bought a Ferrari and one of the HRE wheels was bent so bad you could feel it when going down the rode. The rim are $10,000 or more. I went down they gave me a price when it would be done. I took it home and brought the wheel back. I called and called trying to push them. They got it done when they said put a new seal in because it is a split rim balance the wheel. I picked it up, and you could not see where the problem was. They saved me a lot of money. I am going to go back and have them polish the backside, so it will be ready for the shows. read more

Service needs to be a little better. I called multiple times to check on my rim and I was always told it would be finished the next day. I came the next day and get told it wasn't finished yet. Welds on my rim look strong but the only issue I had was the weld was not completely finished. There was a small spot that wasn't welded over and air came out as soon as I purchased a new tire. I was still charged 30 bucks for the tire rotation for my old tire that they told me was ripped and cannot be used again. I realized that my tire was just taken off the rim for repair and I still gotten charged. If the tire was put on the rim for tire rotation they would have noticed the missing spot as they pumped air. This would have saved me a lot of time and gas. In general the service was unorganized but the job was done. I didn't know where else to go when this accident suddenly happened. I would recommend but they are always busy so you better be patient. read more

I had two of my BMW wheels refinish from here about four years ago. Now I started notice the finish of the paint on the wheels is starting to fade off in five spots on the wheel.. The wheels are not chipping off due to rock chips or hitting a curb.. It is due to when Wheels Techniques painted the wheels and wheels were not completely prep correctly or being dirty so therefore some spots the paint did not stick on.. I went to try and work this out with the manager Rudy. And Rudy said my warranty expired and nothing he can do to resolve this problem.. I would never go back to this place or can recommend this establishment to anyone... they do not do good work for what they charge.... I will also be posting this on the BMW forums... I called in for my car and I was told on the phone that they charge 80$ to repaint my wheels to original color, but when I took my car car there the guy came in and told me 209 for each wheel. The brand new wheel is 300!!!!! Very disappointing! read more

I recently bought an Audi R8 with silver factory rims and after looking at several local options for powder coating the rims I chose Wheel Techniques. I was also referred to wheel techniques buy a reputable local body shop owner. John was very attentive to my concerns about quality as well as taking care of my brand new R8 while in the shop. I probably called 6 times in 24 hours with questions and john always picked up himself and was patient and responsive. Wheel techniques also gave me rides to and from as need to deliver that car. The wheels turned out great with one minor flaw which John was happy to re-do as needed. I was very happy with the color, finish and quality. The car was well taken care of and the turnaround was 1 day. One month later the wheels were damaged during an alignment after lowering the car and I took them straight bak to wheel techniques for a complete re-do . Same result (Actually even better!) Beautiful gloss black finish, no flaws , smooth gloss finish with very minimal orange peel, and one day turn again - both times less $ than other quotes. Rims look great and I will use Wheel techniques as my go to for rim re-finishing or color. read more

I had one wheel repaired here and would not recommend this shop. The service was terrible, the wheel was not ready when it was promised and now months later the paint is flaking off. They did a really good job with making the wheel look new, however, the back side of the wheel was completely scarred and scratched up. I was told later when I called that it was due to one of their main pieces of equipment being down, so their older machine left the back of the wheel damaged. I decided to leave it at that since the area where the damage was can not be seen unless the wheel is off. Plus I had to wait over 40 minutes just to get the wheel because it was not ready even though it was supposed to have been ready the day before. Unfortunately, the repair didn't last anyway. The paint is now flaking off and since I received the rim that specific wheel has had a slow leak which has now turned into a flat within 24 hours. The tire is fine so I can only guess the leak has been coming from the valve stem. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

If I could give this so-called "business" 0 stars I would. Through reading the reviews, it is quite apparent that I am not the only one in this situation. I orginally took in a set of 1-piece cast BMW wheels to have refinished in a hyper silver center with a mirror polished lip. Before taking the wheels in, I sanded one of the spokes with a rather course 120 grit paper. I was told the wheels would take about 1-2 weeks. Thererfore, I borrowed my friend's wheels temporarily expecting it wouldn't take so long. Guess what, IT DID! It took 5 weeks to refinish these wheels. I am almost certain my wheels were sitting around the shop for a month before they even started working on them. Luckily, my friend was understanding of the situation. That is the least of my worries though. Unlike many others, I am willing to wait 5 weeks as long as I get quality work. I finally go to pick them up and as soon as I saw the wheels I was extremely dissappointed. The lips that I had asked to have mirror polished but no where near a mirror finish. In fact , they were not far off from the original machined lip. The sanding marks were painted over and clearly showing through. This told me the wheels were clearly not prepped. Also, the line where the polished lip meets the center was extremely rough and time was certainly not taken in masking off these wheels. Usually, someone who is happy with a particular service will tell all of his or her friends and anyone in their surroundings. However, when one has an experience such as I did, he/she will go out of their way to make sure no one else goes through the same. Being heavily involved in the car industry and several forums, I have been asked countless times on where to refinish wheels and if I have any experience with Wheel Techniques in San Jose. I was more than happy to express my feelings and guide these paying customers otherwise :) So all in all, I was charged $600 to poorly "refinish" a set of wheels and I had to wait 5 weeks when I was quoted 1-2 weeks. Please, if you want to get your wheels refinished, take your money elsewhere! read more

The absolute worst place to get your rims fixed if they are ever bent. The prices seem to change depending on the mood of the guy working behind the counter. Lead time is almost just as bad. This place sucks ass, seriously. This review is a little overdue by a few months but I came here a while back on the recommendation of a friend, they tried to quote me $250 per wheel, (but then later offered $225 as I was leaving) to fix my curb rash because my car is "German" and it has "painted rims." I guess they assumed I was ignorant and wanted to take advantage of that to mark me up for some superficial curb rash. Anyways I'm reading other reviews and they're all claiming the turn around was a few days to a few weeks. I went to the Audi dealership, yes the DEALERSHIP, they treated me WAY better, $120 flat rate no taxes, and my rims were fixed in under an HOUR. I've been telling all my friends to go to other places or look at dealerships, there is no reason anyone should EVER have to come to a place that marks up their prices, tries to take advantage of their customers, and has shitty customer service. P.S. Another Yelp review here posted that they threatened to sue him for posting a bad review about this place. Really guys? Do you have any fucking idea on how to conduct proper public relations? In short don't trust these guys with your wheels. Quality of my wheel repair is so-so and customer service is extremely poor. You're better off with Wheels America in Union City. Here's my recount. I dropped off two wheels that had some light curbing on a Monday. I was told on the phone by Jeff that the repairs will be only $125 for light machine work and a little paint per wheel. When I got there, I was made to wait 30 min before anyone even talked to me. They basically had an attitude that you needed them and you'll wait till they're done chatting to deal with you. I was pushed off and felt pretty insignificant. So finally, Jeff comes out and talks to me. "Yeah, we can fix that, it'll be $155 and another $15 to mount and balance. It'll be 95% perfect and you can pick them up Friday" he stated. I then replied, "I was told it was going to be only $125 per wheel." He then responded, " Well, you can take them to Wheels America but you won't see them for 2 weeks." Well guess what? I dropped by that Friday to pick them up and the wheels weren't even mounted with the tires. The younger guy told me they weren't ready and woundn't be for 30 min. So I came back as instructed and still no wheels. I then talked to Jeff and he apologized and went about getting the wheels mounted. When I saw him handle my rims, I cringed. He banged them as he moved them around. He only cared about the face of the rim and not the rest of it. The sides and back were neglected. For a shop that specializes in wheel care, they sure were rough on my wheels. So the tire installer finally gets to mounting the tire on the first rim. After mounting the tire, he proceeds to peel off the tape he had placed on the rim to protect the "repaired and repainted lip". As the tape comes off, so does the paint! Now the wheels have to go back in the booth for a repaint and I won't get the wheels for a few more days. So two weeks later, I still don't have my wheels. When I try to call, they put you on hold. And when you do get a person, you get an attitude. They need to work on their customer service. I was mislead with pricing, timing, and service. I'm pissed at how I was treated and I feel ripped off on the pricing. I think they neglect the individual because they mainly deal with body shops and dealerships. After all that, I will bring my other wheels elsewhere for repair and I hope nobody is subjected to what I went through. read more

I have heard good things about this place from friends, and co-workers way before I was considering of fixing my rims. My rims were slightly bent and it had scuffs all over. I think this happened over the years of hitting potholes on the road when driving. On the cosmetic side, I was fine with it but performance wise...I hated the vibration and the noise when I'm driving on the freeways. The bends from the rims made my wheels imbalance...I think. Finally, I decided to take my car to these guys. They appeared to be nice and friendly. Wow...was I wrong about them. They were nice, because they wanted my money, and the fact that I'm a girl made it much easier for them to take advantage of. They charged me $175 per rim. For two rims was $350. I was under the impression that this was everything (fixing the bends and reconditioning). Nope, $350 was just for fixing the bends only. The worker didn't try to education me nor did he ask me any questions. I'm a girl and yes it's true that I don't know anything about when it comes to cars. I got my car back in the same condition as when I brought it in. They didn't fix anything. I went back and tried to find out what went wrong, I was told that reconditioning of the rims wasn't part of it. Why didn't you tell me this before hand? They wanted to charge me another $200 for reconditioning. Are you kidding me? I brought my rims in for scuffs and bends and left with scuffs, and bends and $350 less in my pocket. Of course, they claimed to have fixed the bends, but I don't think so because it still drives the same. Oh, did I mention they lost of my lug nuts? Instead of trying to resolve the issue, they pretended like they didn't do anything wrong. They cheated me out of $350. They're just a bunch of SCAMMERS! Stay away from this place, especially if you're a girl. They will have no problem taking advantage of you and it's just going to cost you more money. Take your business elsewhere. My review comes after a frustrating occurrence with wheel techniques. The staff at wheel techniques is unorganized and not dependable to say the least. Here is my story. I took my expensive rim to wheel techniques to have them evaluate the rims if it can be repaired and the cost for repair. Of course before I went I called and asked a few questions and the person on the phone stated to bring in the wheels. I brought the wheels in and a worker took a look at it and told me that he wasn't able to determine if it's repairable. So he asked me to leave it at the shop and someone will look at it and they will call me t let me know the cost if it's repairable. 3 days go by and no one calls, so I call them and ask if my rims are repairable. The guy on the phone was the same guy who helped me when I dropped of my wheel. He said the welder is not here so I will have to wait until the welder looks at the wheel. Another 3 days go by and no call from wheel techniques. So I call them and speak with the same guy. I asked if it was repairable or not and he said no one looked at it yet but another person who was at the shop will. I'm not who I spoke with but the guy who I was speaking with said that most all wheel repair is $250. I said that I need my wheel welded since there is a crack on it. Then He stated, well if there is a crack then there is a dent somewhere and that will cost $100 per dent. So he gives me a price of $350 right off he bat. I tell this guy that I waited 6 days for him to give me a quick quote over the phone when he could have given me a quote 6 days ago. I told him I will pick up my rims and take it elsewhere. The guy says well where are you taking your rims. I told him somewhere more dependable. He ask how much are they charging. I said much lower then what your charging. Then he begins to say well how much do you want to pay....I told the guy I'm picking up my wheel. This was an extremely bad experience. I wasted 6 days leaving my wheel at this shop when I could have taken my wheels elsewhere. This business has poor ethics, is not dependable, shady, poor communication and everything bad and sour. Needless to say I took my wheel elsewhere and in 4 days my wheel was repaired and back on the road. I do not recommend you take your wheels to wheel techniques. This place is great, and John is awesome. I drove over from Santa Cruz on a Saturday morning with tires that needed to be mounted, and the rims they were to go on. One of the rims was damaged, and needed to be balanced. I'd received a price quote over the phone a few days before, and was warned there was a standard 24 hour turnaround period. Since I live over the hill, and again, it was a Saturday, I'd planned on coming back Monday on my way home from SF. Long story short: I actually had TWO bent rims(Facebook Marketplace is fun,) but John had me out of there with four perfectly balanced wheels and mounted tires in under two hours. I don't know if he took pity on my ratty 4Runner(the wheels are for my E30,) knew I 'd only come in prepared to pay for one wheel fix, or just didn't want to see my mug in his shop again, but he got me sorted and sent home stoked... Not to mention he cut me an AWESOME deal. I'll definitely be recommending Wheel Techniques to anyone who needs wheel work. Thanks John! read more

Cliffs: 5 stars for David. 3 stars for the work if youre very picky like me...probably 4.5 stars if youre an average Joe. I brought an OEM wheel from a Mini Cooper in to get a scratch fixed and have it refinished. I searched around for a while looking for a shop and this one was recommended to me by a friend. I looked at the website and figured a place who specializes in refinishing wheels and has been doing it for over 2 decades must know what they are doing. I called in and someone told me the cost would be between $129-$179 + $30 to remount and balance the tire. I brought the wheel in on August 3rd. David wrote up the invoice and told me it would be ready by Tuesday and that it was cost $129 +$30. I thought it was a little soon, but whatever. David was very professional / patient to deal with. I called the following Wednesday and was told that they were having trouble matching the paint. That was fine because I rather have then hold the wheel longer and have it look right than to pass off something that didnt match the factory paint. They told me to follow up the following day. I did and got the same answer. They tried to match the paint 3 times. Finally, on August 16th, they told me to come by and pick it up. I checked out the wheel and there were a few rough edges from over-spray / prepping that got on the back side of the wheel. After pointing it out, David asked someone to sand it back down. After checking out the wheel a little more and taking it to a brighter light (it is very dim in the shop), I noticed there was some run off and a couple areas of really thick clear coat. I pointed it out and David said the tech should have noticed and taken that off. He asked me to let them hold the wheel for another day so they can fix it. He asked for me to check in with them the following day at noon. I called back on the 17th and they told me it was ready for pick up. The wheel looks great. David apologized for the wait and having me come down previously leaving empty handed. He offered a discount and I was on my way. I will NEVER do business with these people again!!!!!! I originally contacted the shop for my 3 piece wheel that had an issue with the leak. The previous shop that I bought the wheel from verified that there were no bends and replaced the tire twice. I spoke to David who says that the issue may be caused by a leak in the seal and quoted me 125 to re seal the wheel. I drove 45 mins to drop off the wheel and was told that it would take 3-4 days tops. It's been over 2.5 weeks now and I just picked up my wheel yesterday. When picking the wheel they stated that there was a "bend" in the wheel and that they "fixed it" and tested the wheel which puzzled me as the previous shopped placed the wheel in the dump tank 3 times and verified the issue was not with any bends. He also claimed that they didn't have to re seal the wheel which is what I was there to begin with nor was this ever communicated to me through my many update request calls to them. I ended up paying 175 dollars (They originally tried to charge me 225) and rolled on my spare for 2.5 weeks. I put the wheel back on yesterday and needless to say the WHEEL STILL LEAKS AIR and was completely flat this morning!!! I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THESE FOLKS EVER AGAIN!!! BEWARE read more

These guys are top notch. They turned my old looking wheels into something special. Came in with a certain color in mind told Roel what I was looking for and he told me it'll be ready in a week. Went to pick the wheels up and my first reaction was "wow". It turned out even better than I imagined. On top of that, customer service is superb. I called Wednesday to schedule a wheel to be picked up for my customer. I was assured that the wheel would be picked up Thursday morning, with plenty of time to return the wheel to my customer Friday. I called Thursday morning around 10AM, and was assured the wheel would be picked up in the early afternoon, and there would be plenty of time to return the wheel to my customer Friday. I called at 3PM and was assured the wheel would be picked up soon and there was still enough time to get it back to my customer Friday. It is now 8:09AM, Wheel Techniques never came to pick up my customer's wheel, and my customer will be here in less than 6 hours to pick up his vehicle. I don't feel it is appropriate to assure a customer of something only to completely and utterly fail them, and that is exactly what I have done, because Wheel Techniques completely and utterly failed me. My shop and our 6 affiliate store will no longer be patronizing this company. Wheel Techniques' quality of work is absolutely no better than any other wheel repair facility, their customer service is routinely abhorrent, and they regularly fail to pick up wheels when they say they will. I will be calling in at 8:30, as soon as they open, to see if they can immediately come and get the wheel, refinish it, and return it before 2PM. I doubt it's possible, but they will have one last chance to save an account that spends several thousand dollars with them every year. read more

Best in the business - I live in SF and bring all of my cars here to fix damaged wheels. I've also ordered tires online - the retailer ships directly to Wheel Techniques who'll do the install (nets big savings over the conventional brick and mortar outfits). Lots of shops say they want their customers to be happy - which we all know is not always a truthful statement. John (owner) recently proved to be the real deal in how he serviced a vehicle I was preparing to put up for sale. I cannot say enough good things about these guys... It's hard to find a place that puts stretch tire on. Despite waiting a day, they had a great price for mounting and removing tires, including tire disposal. If you needed to know what my stretch was it, it was 215/35/18 on a 18x9.5 22 offset wheel. No one wanted to do it for me for this price. read more

I had a set of 1 piece wheels that came silver with a machined lip. I wanted to change the look up so I decided to give Wheel Techniques a call. I wanted the centers painted white and the lips fully polished to get rid of those annoying machined lines on the lip that comes from the factory. They gave me a quote and they completed the whole job in about 8 hours which is ridiculously fast. I thought at first the quality wouldn't be that good since it was a rushed job, but I was wrong, it was pretty damn good! This was done about a year and a hhalf ago, and it still looks good to this day, no chipping, or fading or anything. Definitely gonna bring my other wheels here! read more

I have had some bad luck with these pot holes in the Bay Area after all this rain. I ran over two during the course of one month and wheel techniques was able to repair my oem volvo wheels for less than half of what a new wheel would have cost. This was great because I was able to keep the original look and quality of my wheels. It does take about two days to get back the wheel but overall feels like the smartest decision when you ruin an expensive wheel and don't want to invest in new ones or settle for a cheap or non matching one read more

I have been using Wheel Techniques for the past 30 years. They have polished and maintained rims on a 1978 911SC that I had since High School, a new F450 and now working on a new Tesla rim that I accidentally curbed last week. I have known John and Jeff since they were located in Campbell off Winchester Blvd a number of years back. I called their shop today to have them estimate and schedule time for my curbed wheel. John/Jeff were prompt and friendly in looking at my rim and what was needed some attention. I will upload photos next week when the work is completed but I am confident in their abilities and workmanship since I have had a number of rims repaired at Wheel Techniques over the past 30 years. Last year I was traveling down US 101 at 1AM and a semi trailer tread came flying out from under a trailer I was behind. The road was under construction and traffic was limited to 2 lanes but that tire tread whipped up and the steel belts scraped my front left rim and punched a hole in the rear fender of my truck ($4000 worth of damage). The body shop that was working on the body damage stated that the rim needed to be replaced, but that my insurance company wanted to see if the rim could be repaired. I told Traci (The body shop manager) that this was OK to send out for repairs and to my surprise he sent the wheel over to John at Wheel Techniques. The rim was welded, grinned and polished like brand new!! The repair work was not visible !! The work and service that I have received at Wheel Techniques has always been done with precision and flawless!! I can tell you that I have stayed with them over the years because of the service and professionalism they offer and present. I highly recommend Wheel Techniques to my friends and family for any rim/tire needs. They also used to "TRUE" my tires on my 911C for performance and it was a great service that I also utilized from their shop. The shop was very busy and they had a number or cars/rims and wheels they were working on when I visited them earlier this morning. Their business has survived over this past recession because they have great service, offer many products and have many loyal customers coming back (like me). read more

I met with Rowell the manager and also was introduced to the owners, John and Ellyn. They were very easy to talk with, Like Family. We looked at the car and went over the different options that would suit my needs. I wanted an Up Beat Look and from there we came up with a Reasonable Solution, to give It some Personality. We went with satin Black Power Coat Finish and To set off the red Ruf brake calipers. To set it off more they Customized the Center Caps Painted them Red, Nice Choice. Wow! Pleasantly Surprised how much it changed my Ride, It took the Look to the Next level... From Start to Finish I was Informed of Every Step in the Process to Increase the Value to my Porsche Cayenne.
