I love the quality of work that comes out of this place and would have gave them 5 stars but there times they quote for there services are the reason i only gave them 3 stars ! I have delt with them 4 times on various parts ( no wheels ) and every time I dropped off stuff to be done they tell me 1 to 1.5 weeks and it always take at least double if not 3 times as long . If they where honest on the time frame from the get go i wouldn't be hesitant to give them 5 stars . I was fortunate enough to crack a wheel the other day, so Five Point Tires recommended Wheel Techniques for the repair. I was quoted $150-200 over the phone. They advised me that on Saturdays they perform work on a first come first serve basis, which was perfect. NOTE - they only accept cash on weekends. I brought the wheel in on Saturday morning around 9:15 AM. There were three other customers ahead of me so I figured it would take awhile. Dropped off the wheel and went to get a haircut. I got back around 10:45 AM and it was already done. The repair doesn't look super pretty, but it's strong, holds air, and balanced out fine. I'm happy. read more

Not cheap, not too expensive, and I think they do a nice job. Given the amount of wheels coming on from dealerships and auto repair shops, these guys are the go-to place apparently. We fixed a nasty rim dent on aluminum wheel. $199 out the door. Vs $700 for new oem wheel. read more

David and the guys at Wheel Techniques showed their experience when I brought them my strange problem: I had recently bought a used BMW 760Li with 20" rims and Pirelli Run Flats. One tire would always leak down over night. Another leaked down one day, but never did again. The one that leaked all the time, I brought to Wheel Works and they checked it for nails and such and put it in water and as far as they could tell, it looked like the valve stem was leaking, so they replaced it. And then did it again, and again. It still leaked. No, I don't have chrome rims, and the one in question was not bent. Talking to Dave at Wheel Techniques about it, once they looked it over, he knew exactly what was up. They had found in the past this particular tire model had a strange fit due to the design of the bead on the tire itself--which would sometimes result in chronic air leakage. He recommended removing it and removing some of the rubber on the bead to better seat the tire. $75. At this point I was willing to try anything. I even asked them to keep it an extra day to ensure it would hold air for 24 hours. Once I got it back, it did lose a bit of air a few times, but generally held it for more than 48 hours. I chalked this up to the strange tire design. I mean, 3 of the others generally hold their air, but can randomly lose it. Now it's been more than a week without needing air. Needless to say, I am not buying these tires when it comes time to replace them, but at least I can drive them until winter because of the expertise of this shop. Thanks, guys. read more

THEY PROVE THAT EVEN A BAD SITUATION CAN BE HANDLED WITH EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! First off, almost every rim shop in a 45 minute radius recommends this place (me coming from gilroy). Second, even a worse case scenario can turn out ok. let me start by saying i have had two experiences with Wheel Techniques. the first time they fixed my bent rim on a Saturday in a matter of hours and i was extremely pleased. the 2nd time wasn't as great but still turned out ok. i went back for another rim (damn 19 inch rims on my TL). i dropped it off saturday monring, went to a snowboard convention in santa clara, and when i came back they were mounting my spare. so i instantly knew that something went wrong with my rim. in the process of heating up and bending it back, it cracked. WHEN TRYING TO FIX A BENT RIM KNOW THAT THERE IS A CHANCE THE RIM CAN CRACK, THIS IS THE RISK YOU ARE TAKING. Jeff, i believe, was sincerely apologetic, and broke down the situation and options to me. 1) he offered a complete refund 2) he could fix the rim (welding it) it would look ugly but be fixed for what i already paid 3) for an additional amount he would sand and powder coat all my rims so the welding would not be visible. i took the rest of the weekend to check out prices of new rims/tires and decided to go with the refund. i figured i might as well get 18's now, im tired of paying way too much for 19inch tires and dealing with bending rims. here is where he went above and beyond, i live in gilroy, and work in morgan hill (9-6pm). its a huge hassle for me to get to santa clara during the week, and still annoying to get there on a weekend. since a couple of the guys that work there live in morgan hill they were willing to bring me back my rim/tire/refund and meet me at my work. extra above and beyond: when i dropped of my car on that saturday i had a bag with me, a reusable shopping bag made from recyclable materials (something that looks like it can be tossed out). I accidentally left there when i was hit with the news that my rim was cracked. i didn't realize for a week and a half that my bag was missing. i called today and they still had it with all my paperwork in it. LIFESAVER, those were the lift ticket vouchers i bought at the snow convention. so long story short, they do a great job at repairing rims. even if the rim gets damaged they are willing to fix it for the same price, though its understandable that they have to charge to powder coat all 4 rims to cover the repair marks. i highly recommend this place. I hope i don't need to go back, but if i do, i will with a smile. read more

I was referred to WT by a major HIGH END wheel installer-- I need my very expensive wheels frequently changed-out for flat tires-- (OK, I have ADV.1's and Champion), so the "High End" guy recommended WT. Unfortunately, very soon after the recommend, I hit an ax-head on 680-S at the Sunol grade, while pulling left to let a motorcycle go by-- destroyed the Michelin all-season tire and badly dented the Champion forged wheel-- I don't know what the Champions cost now-- they quit making my model, but new I paid $1200-each, and since not available any more I wanted repaired-- Well, these guys did great--- finished on time, and the wheel looks new. They mounted the new Michelin without any marks nor incidents. They are the best secret installers around-- try them out. read more

Apologies in advance cuz this will be long. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! Took my bent rim in to WT after speaking to Oscar on phone abt repairing it. Receptionist asked him to come to office when I got there. He comes to the door & he's scrolling on his phone. No greeting. No "how can I help u"? This goes on for at least a min. Finally looks at me but still doesn't say anything. I explain why I'm there & I leave the rim with him. Pick up rim & the only good thing I can say is they did an excellent job on the repair. Put rim back on my car & take it for test drive. Within 10 mins both the tire pressure & low pressure sensors come on. Pull over immediately. My tire is shredded. I think WT re-installed the tps improperly after the repair because after my tire was removed, it was broken in 3 pieces. Drove on my tires almost 2 years with no probs. WT works on my rim & my tire explodes within minutes. Took rim & damaged tire back to shop after calling & explaining what happened. To me, they owe me a new tire & a new tps, altho my biggest concern was making sure my rim wasn't damaged. When I 1st picked up my rim the receptionist told me I had a year warranty. She said: If anything happens, well nothing is going to happen, we'll fix it for free. We removed the blown tire & put on a spare tire & a spare tps just to get it off the fwy & home. I showed Oscar the blown tire & basically he told me the tire was bad & that's why it failed. When I questioned that, he said: You had a bent rim right? Driving it on a bent rim probably damaged the tire. The problem with that is I DIDN'T drive it. I removed the tire when the bend happened & I told him that. He had no answer. Also, if the tire was bad, you didn't notice that when u put it back on & let us know? Hmmm. I moved on to the tps. It was in 3 jagged pieces. He told me the sensor part was undamaged & just needed a new valve. I'm like, yeah no. I told him to just check the soundness of the rim. I walked out of the shop then returned a min later to tell him I wanted my spare tps returned to me. He was telling another employee that the tire had failed and he was laughing about it until he saw me. Wasn't expecting me to come back obviously. This is the kind of guy he is My husband called him a few mins after I left & told him he owed us a new tire & at the very least a NEW tps. Oscar called my husb later that day, told him the spare tire was OFF the rim & asked him if he wanted it to stay off or be put back on. My husb told him to leave it off. Next day Oscar calls me. Says rim is fine & asked me if I want spare tire off or back on rim. I said off. Go to shop to pick up rim. Oscar tells me: Didn't have time to take tire off yet. I say: Well can u do it now? He says: My guy's not here. I'm like: Really? I told my husb before I went that Oscar wanted to leave the tire on because we wouldn't be able to see that he did NOT get a new tps. He said the tire was off & asked us both if we wanted it on or off. We both said off. Soooo...why is the tire on the rim then?? Because he never took it off. For 10 mins he rotated the tire on the machine then ultimately said it "won't come off". Hmmm. Really? Told me the tps had been reinstalled. I said: A new one? He said: No. I told u it was fine. I just replaced the valve. Broken in 3 pieces. But it's fine. Uh huh. Sure it is. The most galling thing is they have a HUGE red sign in their office that goes on & on about how customer service is their #1 priority and if for ANY reason you're not 100% satisfied they'll make it right. What a joke. My tire was fine before I took it to WT then failed immediately after I put it back on. They took zero responsibility & blamed the customer for their mistake. This company is fantastic! They fixed two of my wheels damaged by going over a pothole. The cost was only a small fraction of the price to replace the wheels. The fix took an hour. Not sure whats up with all the prior bad experiences reflected for this place on yelp. I was so happy and impressed with the service I received from these guys that I felt I had to represent for them. I got four rims powder coated flat back in Dec 2010, for a more rugged off road look on my truck. The look, combined with drop-shipped new off road tires really gave me the agressive look i was after. I didn't have any spare rims, and they offered to garage my truck on jack stands at their shop for the duration of the refinishing which was only a week. No biggie, i carpooled with my wife for the week it took to get this done. I was treated like a VIP from start to finish. Then, this past February, i lost a center cap off of one of my rims, and noticed that some of the powder coat had flaked off probably from the cap flying off. I drove in, half expecting to have to cover the respray out of my own pocket, but these guys stepped up big time and covered this as part of their warranty. Fast forward to today - just happened across their yelp listing after referring a buddy here.... i'm aghast at all the negative reviews. All the previous comments are not indicative of the service I experienced at all. Based on my personal experience, I would highly recommend this shop, they do a damn good job, and stand behind their work. Give these guys a chance, you won't be sorry. read more

I went to Wheel Techniques to get a quote on a wheel repair for my 1965 Mustang. The employee I met was friendly and attentive to the issues I had with my wheels. During this process I met the owner, John. He looked at my wheels and said they could do a full repair (dismount the tire, straighten and polish) or he can bend it out. My preference was to bend it out because the area of concern was under the rim's beauty ring. John proceed to unbend the section of the rim. When he was done, he told me nice car and have a great day (no charge)! This type of customer service is rare, I highly recommend Wheel Techniques. read more

Love this place! By far the best wheel repair shop. I went to over 3 different places, 1 said he would try but sounded so nervous that I couldn't trust him and the other 2 of them would not even touch my work equip with a 6 inch flat spot on the edge of the inner barrel. Finally heard about this place and went over. They have great prices for the work they do and amazing turnaround times. Took my rim in and picked it back up the next day. Rim looked almost brand new and I paid half of what I was going to pay for had I bought a new barrel a day later. Had them fix my bend and machine my hub bores to have my e36 wheels fit my e39. Service needs to be a little better. I called multiple times to check on my rim and I was always told it would be finished the next day. I came the next day and get told it wasn't finished yet. Welds on my rim look strong but the only issue I had was the weld was not completely finished. There was a small spot that wasn't welded over and air came out as soon as I purchased a new tire. I was still charged 30 bucks for the tire rotation for my old tire that they told me was ripped and cannot be used again. I realized that my tire was just taken off the rim for repair and I still gotten charged. If the tire was put on the rim for tire rotation they would have noticed the missing spot as they pumped air. This would have saved me a lot of time and gas. In general the service was unorganized but the job was done. I didn't know where else to go when this accident suddenly happened. I would recommend but they are always busy so you better be patient. read more

I had two of my BMW wheels refinish from here about four years ago. Now I started notice the finish of the paint on the wheels is starting to fade off in five spots on the wheel.. The wheels are not chipping off due to rock chips or hitting a curb.. It is due to when Wheels Techniques painted the wheels and wheels were not completely prep correctly or being dirty so therefore some spots the paint did not stick on.. I went to try and work this out with the manager Rudy. And Rudy said my warranty expired and nothing he can do to resolve this problem.. I would never go back to this place or can recommend this establishment to anyone... they do not do good work for what they charge.... I will also be posting this on the BMW forums... EVERYONE I spoke with and seen the wheels agree that hey should fix and repaint it for no charge and cover under warranty... read more

I called in for my car and I was told on the phone that they charge 80$ to repaint my wheels to original color, but when I took my car car there the guy came in and told me 209 for each wheel. The brand new wheel is 300!!!!! Very disappointing! read more

I have to say i have had them do work for me a few times... Before they moved to Santa Clara. The quoting for me was fine but i have to agree with everyone with communication and time management. They really need to hire some phone operator to handle all the calls and do a better job ETA on deliverables. Everyone works hard there and so many times i see them go and answer phone and pull themselves of they're work. That slow everyone down. Second i am reading about quote issues and for what i understand yes it's $125 a rim starting but if you have a 2 piece/3 piece rims it could cost more and that is why the prices change when you bring your rim/s in. Some people don't even know they have 2 piece or even 3 piece rims. I don't know i have never been quoted more than $125 per rim and i have 2 piece rims that were bent, curbed, and re-welding needed. I don't know maybe it was the way i spoke to him? All in all i do like this shop but i would have to agree with everyone that the owner really needs to make some changes. Yes, he is busy now but don't forget the people that helped get you there....the customers!!! read more

I went here because I did not know where I could get my rim fixed, and a tire shop let their name slip and I found them from that. I had just bought a Ferrari and one of the HRE wheels was bent so bad you could feel it when going down the rode. The rim are $10,000 or more. I went down they gave me a price when it would be done. I took it home and brought the wheel back. I called and called trying to push them. They got it done when they said put a new seal in because it is a split rim balance the wheel. I picked it up, and you could not see where the problem was. They saved me a lot of money. I am going to go back and have them polish the backside, so it will be ready for the shows. read more

I recently bought an Audi R8 with silver factory rims and after looking at several local options for powder coating the rims I chose Wheel Techniques. I was also referred to wheel techniques buy a reputable local body shop owner. John was very attentive to my concerns about quality as well as taking care of my brand new R8 while in the shop. I probably called 6 times in 24 hours with questions and john always picked up himself and was patient and responsive. Wheel techniques also gave me rides to and from as need to deliver that car. The wheels turned out great with one minor flaw which John was happy to re-do as needed. I was very happy with the color, finish and quality. The car was well taken care of and the turnaround was 1 day. One month later the wheels were damaged during an alignment after lowering the car and I took them straight bak to wheel techniques for a complete re-do . Same result (Actually even better!) Beautiful gloss black finish, no flaws , smooth gloss finish with very minimal orange peel, and one day turn again - both times less $ than other quotes. Rims look great and I will use Wheel techniques as my go to for rim re-finishing or color. read more

My review comes after a frustrating occurrence with wheel techniques. The staff at wheel techniques is unorganized and not dependable to say the least. Here is my story. I took my expensive rim to wheel techniques to have them evaluate the rims if it can be repaired and the cost for repair. Of course before I went I called and asked a few questions and the person on the phone stated to bring in the wheels. I brought the wheels in and a worker took a look at it and told me that he wasn't able to determine if it's repairable. So he asked me to leave it at the shop and someone will look at it and they will call me t let me know the cost if it's repairable. 3 days go by and no one calls, so I call them and ask if my rims are repairable. The guy on the phone was the same guy who helped me when I dropped of my wheel. He said the welder is not here so I will have to wait until the welder looks at the wheel. Another 3 days go by and no call from wheel techniques. So I call them and speak with the same guy. I asked if it was repairable or not and he said no one looked at it yet but another person who was at the shop will. I'm not who I spoke with but the guy who I was speaking with said that most all wheel repair is $250. I said that I need my wheel welded since there is a crack on it. Then He stated, well if there is a crack then there is a dent somewhere and that will cost $100 per dent. So he gives me a price of $350 right off he bat. I tell this guy that I waited 6 days for him to give me a quick quote over the phone when he could have given me a quote 6 days ago. I told him I will pick up my rims and take it elsewhere. The guy says well where are you taking your rims. I told him somewhere more dependable. He ask how much are they charging. I said much lower then what your charging. Then he begins to say well how much do you want to pay....I told the guy I'm picking up my wheel. This was an extremely bad experience. I wasted 6 days leaving my wheel at this shop when I could have taken my wheels elsewhere. This business has poor ethics, is not dependable, shady, poor communication and everything bad and sour. Needless to say I took my wheel elsewhere and in 4 days my wheel was repaired and back on the road. I do not recommend you take your wheels to wheel techniques. This place is great, and John is awesome. I drove over from Santa Cruz on a Saturday morning with tires that needed to be mounted, and the rims they were to go on. One of the rims was damaged, and needed to be balanced. I'd received a price quote over the phone a few days before, and was warned there was a standard 24 hour turnaround period. Since I live over the hill, and again, it was a Saturday, I'd planned on coming back Monday on my way home from SF. Long story short: I actually had TWO bent rims(Facebook Marketplace is fun,) but John had me out of there with four perfectly balanced wheels and mounted tires in under two hours. I don't know if he took pity on my ratty 4Runner(the wheels are for my E30,) knew I 'd only come in prepared to pay for one wheel fix, or just didn't want to see my mug in his shop again, but he got me sorted and sent home stoked... Not to mention he cut me an AWESOME deal. I'll definitely be recommending Wheel Techniques to anyone who needs wheel work. Thanks John! read more

I have had some bad luck with these pot holes in the Bay Area after all this rain. I ran over two during the course of one month and wheel techniques was able to repair my oem volvo wheels for less than half of what a new wheel would have cost. This was great because I was able to keep the original look and quality of my wheels. It does take about two days to get back the wheel but overall feels like the smartest decision when you ruin an expensive wheel and don't want to invest in new ones or settle for a cheap or non matching one read more

Best in the business - I live in SF and bring all of my cars here to fix damaged wheels. I've also ordered tires online - the retailer ships directly to Wheel Techniques who'll do the install (nets big savings over the conventional brick and mortar outfits). Lots of shops say they want their customers to be happy - which we all know is not always a truthful statement. John (owner) recently proved to be the real deal in how he serviced a vehicle I was preparing to put up for sale. I cannot say enough good things about these guys... I had one wheel repaired here and would not recommend this shop. The service was terrible, the wheel was not ready when it was promised and now months later the paint is flaking off. They did a really good job with making the wheel look new, however, the back side of the wheel was completely scarred and scratched up. I was told later when I called that it was due to one of their main pieces of equipment being down, so their older machine left the back of the wheel damaged. I decided to leave it at that since the area where the damage was can not be seen unless the wheel is off. Plus I had to wait over 40 minutes just to get the wheel because it was not ready even though it was supposed to have been ready the day before. Unfortunately, the repair didn't last anyway. The paint is now flaking off and since I received the rim that specific wheel has had a slow leak which has now turned into a flat within 24 hours. The tire is fine so I can only guess the leak has been coming from the valve stem. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Going to them was one of the worst customer service experience I've had. Basically wasted the little time I had before my travel to get my rims fixed. I went by the shop bright and early 10mins before they opened. I talked to one of the techs and he said sure bring the wheels in, and that he will have one of the techs who specializes in motorcycle rim repair to look at it and give me a quote. This seems easy enough, so I left with optimism. Later in the afternoon I called on 3 different occasions to find out what's the quote or feedback, they tell me they haven't looked at it yet, will get to it right away... but never did. I called the next day afternoon, and they basically still did not look at it, then I said when will it happen, I am traveling soon and need to know ASAP. They put me on hold for 2mins and they said oh it's too bend we can't work on it... Basically they only needed 2 mins to assess my rims but did not bother to do so after 2 days. Here's the kicker, I had already left town so I plead my buddy to pick it up for me, and when he arrived they basically said "oh we don't repair motorcycle rims".. Not sure what kind of deceiving people running that shop but I am glad I got my stuff outta there. They will probably tell you one price when you bring it in then give you the real price after work is done, if the work is done right. There were some scratches on my wheels that have been bothering me for a while. The cost to purchase brand new rims on my Ferrari would be about $1500 each. A friend of mine told me about Wheel Techniques. I decided to give them a try and they really shined! I decided to get all 4 rims done and they look brand new now. They even found a crack in one of my lug nuts and replaced for me at no charge. I'll definitely be back if I ever need rim work done and will surely recommend them to others. read more

If I could give this so-called "business" 0 stars I would. Through reading the reviews, it is quite apparent that I am not the only one in this situation. I orginally took in a set of 1-piece cast BMW wheels to have refinished in a hyper silver center with a mirror polished lip. Before taking the wheels in, I sanded one of the spokes with a rather course 120 grit paper. I was told the wheels would take about 1-2 weeks. Thererfore, I borrowed my friend's wheels temporarily expecting it wouldn't take so long. Guess what, IT DID! It took 5 weeks to refinish these wheels. I am almost certain my wheels were sitting around the shop for a month before they even started working on them. Luckily, my friend was understanding of the situation. That is the least of my worries though. Unlike many others, I am willing to wait 5 weeks as long as I get quality work. I finally go to pick them up and as soon as I saw the wheels I was extremely dissappointed. The lips that I had asked to have mirror polished but no where near a mirror finish. In fact , they were not far off from the original machined lip. The sanding marks were painted over and clearly showing through. This told me the wheels were clearly not prepped. Also, the line where the polished lip meets the center was extremely rough and time was certainly not taken in masking off these wheels. Usually, someone who is happy with a particular service will tell all of his or her friends and anyone in their surroundings. However, when one has an experience such as I did, he/she will go out of their way to make sure no one else goes through the same. Being heavily involved in the car industry and several forums, I have been asked countless times on where to refinish wheels and if I have any experience with Wheel Techniques in San Jose. I was more than happy to express my feelings and guide these paying customers otherwise :) So all in all, I was charged $600 to poorly "refinish" a set of wheels and I had to wait 5 weeks when I was quoted 1-2 weeks. Please, if you want to get your wheels refinished, take your money elsewhere! read more

The absolute worst place to get your rims fixed if they are ever bent. The prices seem to change depending on the mood of the guy working behind the counter. Lead time is almost just as bad. This place sucks ass, seriously. This review is a little overdue by a few months but I came here a while back on the recommendation of a friend, they tried to quote me $250 per wheel, (but then later offered $225 as I was leaving) to fix my curb rash because my car is "German" and it has "painted rims." I guess they assumed I was ignorant and wanted to take advantage of that to mark me up for some superficial curb rash. Anyways I'm reading other reviews and they're all claiming the turn around was a few days to a few weeks. I went to the Audi dealership, yes the DEALERSHIP, they treated me WAY better, $120 flat rate no taxes, and my rims were fixed in under an HOUR. I've been telling all my friends to go to other places or look at dealerships, there is no reason anyone should EVER have to come to a place that marks up their prices, tries to take advantage of their customers, and has shitty customer service. P.S. Another Yelp review here posted that they threatened to sue him for posting a bad review about this place. Really guys? Do you have any fucking idea on how to conduct proper public relations?
