I haven't been to Lanham Skate Center in years!…read more Coming back wasn't only a treat but brought a little bit of nostalgia for me. I came on a Friday night where there were way more adults than kids. To be honest, all the adults had on good expensive skates but me. (Dork alert) This means that these people come and really skate skate. For the most part there were lots of couples skating together in sync with the type of synergy that only Chemistry will allow. Way cool to see them skate so effortlessly, even the big boy who was skating with one leg! Ladies there were couples but there were men all by their lonesome skating like superstars. It was super fun, it's definitely a workout, and this girl is going to buy cute skates to fit in for next time. Customer service was great! Price is reasonable! 17$ Didn't try the food had dinner prior! But drinks are fairly priced. Music is on point! Love the DJ, it's almost like he had my playlist. Place is a little run down but the floor is perfect, restrooms could get a facelift but overall cute place! Date night worthy if you're active! Tip: Bring quarters if you want to safely store your stuff. They do not give cash back and can't charge you for a locker. Would recommend!

I had a blast and such an awesome fun and amazing time. I had to use the guardrail with wheels to go around the rink several times before gradually trusting myself and having the confidence to start taking strides on my own by the guardrails and then eventually taking steps to start having my balance, technique, and rhythm down just an amazing epiphany, self development and fulfilling prophecy throughout the evening such an excellent feeling of accomplishment and overcoming fear, as I was able to get the hang of things without needing an actual class and had that my muscle memory kicked in from inline skating a lot as a child. Now for the actual establishment itself, I am sorry that others have not had the best customer service, but my mom and I were fortunate to receive stellar, friendly, and top-tier customer service from the admissions to the snack bar and for me at the shoe rental. Staff were easygoing, polite, friendly, attentive, approachable, and had great attitudes. I think the customer service outside of the skating experience itself for me was the most memorable part, as I was dreading and expecting poor to mediocre customer service. The pricing is also a plus. The general admission is only $10 bucks and renting skates is only $5 dollars so it is a very affordable, fun, and memorable outing. Bowling can easily cost $50-$100 dollars altogether within a blink of the eye depending on rounds played and other factors. Roller skating is not as widely popular as bowling and has more of a niche audience, but it is way more reasonable cost wise and is great for your physical and mental health. You feel this euphoric sensation after skating! Now what keeps this place from receiving 5 stars or even 4 stars is the location and amenities themselves. The rink although large with excellent guardrail placement around it, has a dated floor with a few areas that have a little bit of friction which makes it hard to have a smooth skating experience. The skates I rented were pretty dated and worn with the front of one skate peeling, so I think investing in newer skates would be ideal down the road. I had the right size of skates, and they did not feel too heavy, but they were a bit worn out. I know the challenges small businesses face, and I was thankful and grateful to have a local skating rink not too far away from where I live, but that is something cause of concern. A nice feature are the referees/support staff that do a great job monitoring the rules on the skating rink and to help novice/beginner skaters if needed. Yes, this place has a lot of rules, but skating can be a risky activity, so safety is paramount. The snack bar is a bit more limited and restrictive than what to expect at a bowling alley. Please do not come here on an empty stomach. It is best to eat before coming here. I understand that the skating rink is not a restaurant, but there are no hot pockets, sausage, and other finger food outside of wings and fries. The candy was almost 3 dollars per bag which is pricey. The food and its options was the most disappointing part. The venue itself is pretty dated and would look and feel nicer with a more modern, revamped look. I think the venue would benefit from a massive upgrade in the aesthetics department. The music was not what I have interest in personally with Cardi B., Glorilla, and other new school hip/hop - rap artists. I enjoyed when Jay Z and Alicia Keys came on, that is when I started to get into my rhythm and groove! Sorry Cardi you just don't do it for me. Having a lot of little kids skating with me listening to ole Cardi B was an experience to say the least. All in all, despite some limitations and issues here and there, this is still a great outing and nice to check out.

Last month, I checked out the skate school at Skate Zone. It's a vibe. I went to their Saturday…read moremorning class . The two instructors were great and very patient with our group. They break the groups up by age (little, teens, and adults). It was 30 minutes and leads up to the public skate. I love how they have different size guards for those of you who need skate assistance. While I was there, I saw there is a food and arcade area. You can bring your own skates or use their skates. They also offer Public skating sessions, Bday parties & private events, Family-friendly theme nights, and Lessons, camps, and community events. I'll definitely be back for public skate in 2026.

I'm giving this location 5 stars. I had never been here before but hosted a kids birthday party…read morerecently. Customer service was top tier. I usually over-function for birthday parties but they took care of EVERYTHING! I was late with all the deadlines (per usual) from submitting the guest list to finalizing the menu and they took it all in stride and were so accommodating and professional. The location was great for kids- had a nice size (not too big/too small ) skating rink and they have an arcade. With our party package we had a section, for not just the kids but for the adults so we could sit in a contained area together, the kids could rent a pair of skates and got a card to go play in the arcade. They also had an ice cream sundae bar where the kids could get ice cream and add toppings. The DJ definitely gave the birthday star several shout outs and even played a dedicated song. The venue provided party favors (some really nice ones I might add). We also had a designated party manager and she was the bomb dot com- shout out to Heidi!! We had a party with over 20 kids so it did get a little pricey but I felt it was well worth it. I will definitely come back and bring the kiddos, may even try to skate again myself lol.

I overheard him speaking to one of the favorite and well known skate instructors with a nasty tone. During this same visit he got snappy with me as well. MUST'VE WOKE UP ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE BED. I heard many complaints about how he runs out on the rink floor policing in an aggressive manner. He also has passed this behavior on to his Saturday afternoon skate guard. Customer service everything these days. Skating is supposed to be a therapeutic and safe place. I've tried many times over the last few months to visit this place but I do believe this is my last visit. I'd rather drive to Laurel and be treated with respect.

Before we came, I sent messages via their web site asking for rules and whether inline skating was allowed (just to be sure) and they never replied. We drove all the way down to find that they do not allow inline skating. The guy in the front desk was pretty snobby. He did offer a small room for inline skating and we accepted but we had to pay a full 10 dollars to skate around a small room instead of a full regular size rink and I didn't think it was fair.

Took my kids to rollerskate for the 4:30 to 6:30 PM session to blow off some steam before dinner…read more Terrible rink, doesn't seem family friendly, walked into lord knows what trying to take my 4 year old to pee (weed smoke, a woman dressed for a much more adult experience at 5:30pm).... I turned around and walked right out of there without investigating further. The vibes were off in that bathroom, I can tell you that much. They seemed alarmed that I was trying to come in there at all let alone with a four-year-old, even though the bathroom was a public bathroom.... I don't know how this place can call itself a roller skating rink with that horrible floor. The skates were plastic and awful. I really feel ripped off and extremely disappointed. The chairs were disgusting. I washed all of our clothes and coats as soon as we got home. I will never be returning. Such wasted money. In addition there was a DJ playing music and it was so loud. My kids were extremely overstimulated and just yelling by the time we left, then complained of headaches on the car ride home.

Went here for the first time to try the roller skating rink. And all I can say is that this place…read moreis just "average." I love the concept, and this seems like a great place for an extreme beginner (like me) to practice because it wasn't very crowded when I went at 5:30 pm on a weekday. But there were so many things that I also didn't like about the place. First, the rental skates are DIRTY and DUSTY and DOWNRIGHT disgusting. They do not seem to be properly cleaned or maintained, and I don't think they are even sanitized between users. They only come in derby style (with the completely flat sole, without a little heel), and I also found them to run very narrow. (And I have a regular width foot in the most common women's size. So I'm not hard to fit!) I spent almost 30 minutes of my 2-hour reservation simply trying to find a pair that didn't hurt my feet and with wheels that rolled properly. The shoes themselves are super filthy and dusty with disintegrating shoelaces, and when you go to put them on, the wheels are covered in so much dirt and hair and they get your pants dirty just touching them. Second, it is difficult to watch your things while you're skating. There are no lockers or secure areas to place your things. Rather just outside the rink there is a long built-in bench you can sit on to put on your skates, with rows of open cubby holes above it for you to store your things. But the entire area is facing out -- away from the rink and toward the rest of the building. That means it wouldn't be safe for you to leave a purse there unattended, nor would it be wise to leave your water bottle either. Although I felt fine storing my jacket and shoes there, I had to carry the rest of my stuff with me (and I placed my water bottle on the inside ledge so I could try to keep an eye on it). The whole thing seems poorly designed for adult users. Plus it was dirty -- with chewed balls of gum littering the area and even random press-on fingernails in the cubbies. Third, the handful of "cabana" seating areas that are around the rink seem so beat-up and dilapidated. All the pillows are dirty and deflated. The wicker is beat-up. Everything about the place just seem unkempt and uncared for. Whoever owns this place ought to be ashamed! There is no reason for it to be this bad. Fourth, the rink itself is ok. It's not a shiny floor like you might remember from childhood, but rather a slightly soft black snap-together floor. It was perfectly fine for skating though. There is no "rail" surrounding the rink though. If you find that you need to try to break a fall/come to a stop, there is almost nothing but smooth wall. (There was some kind of light fixture plate jutting out from the wall--screws and all--near the emergency exist when I was there. It was a definite safety hazard, and I don't think the establishment even cares. Fifth, there does seem to be a food stand and restrooms nearby. But I didn't use either of those, so I can't speak to the quality, cleanliness, etc. of any of it. Sixth, there is a decent parking lot out front. But it doesn't belong to Kraken. You have to pay a separate company to park out front (electronically, kind of like using ParkMobile). So that sucks. This place should at least validate your parking for a set amount of time. Seventh, the bulk of the building is devoted to pickleball. There are several courts all over, while the skating rink is in the very back. When I first arrived, there was hardly anyone playing. But as the night progressed, the pickle ball courts all got lots of us with multiple crowds. Because the backs of the cabanas are super close to pickle ball courts, it would seem prudent to me to put mesh along the back of the cabanas, so that there's no chance of an errant pickle ball flying into the cabana and hitting someone -- let alone flying onto the court and hitting an unsuspecting skater. It seems like this would be a no-brainer from the establishment's perspective, but it hasn't been done. So all of these things made for a mediocre experience. Now what were the good things, you ask? Well, I think if you can bring your own skates, then it's nice to have a place where you can safely practice in NW DC (and without having to go all the way to the Anacostia skate park). But other than that, there's not too much more I can say. If this place were in an inconvenient location, then these 3 stars would fall all the way down to 1 star.

We came from Baltimore, so it was a little over an hr drive. The entire process from choosing, trying on, and getting the wheels/brakes adjusted, and paying was about 40 minutes. That included him helping other customers at the same time. A great multitasker for sure! His son was also there helping as well. This shop is located in a small shopping strip.
