Parking is free on the weekends & Federal Holidays and like $5.20 during the week. You can pay with credit card ($5.80) or your smart trip provided that you have funds. You can park in the garage or on the lot (recommended) as long as it's not marked for commuters.

As mentioned, Grosvenor-Strathmore is on the Red Line. It has a center island platform (so that you don't have to go up and over and down to turn around). It is between White Flint (towards Shady Grove) and Medical Center (towards downtown).

Normally it's pretty clean. Once you take the long-ish escalator ride up away from the tracks, you end up in a covered area where the buses are. This area has a tiny Dunkin Donuts if you need a snack or coffee. As you head to the next set of escalators, there is a water feature (not quite a waterfall) that comes down into the station area from the surface. Nice to have a natural sounds in a very urban area. Once you get up onto the surface, you're at the corner of Old Georgetown Rd and Wisconsin Ave near several hotels and a Starbucks (in case Dunks wasn't your cup of tea). Pretty central to a of businesses and restaurants. All in all, this station is convenient and central to downtown Bethesda.

I wish they'd expand the green line farther north to Laurel, Jessup, or Dorsey station.

The station exits next to GWU Hospital, and is a block down from Washington Circle and a Whole Foods amongst other things. The Kennedy Center shuttle also stops in front of the station. There are usually a few sidewalk vendors out in front of the station selling T-shirts, sometimes household products, artworks, and other items. There is a Starbucks located in the GWU Hospital lobby (limited to hospital employees late/overnight), and a 7-Eleven a block over through a little plaza behind the station entrance. It does the job.
