The metro here is so easy to use an inexpensive. There were men in the station to help me get started For two dollars I purchased a MetroCard that's good for 10 years. There is also an app on my phone. I can fill up my card with money and tap on and off when I get in and out of the station. The metro are clean and run quickly. The DC metro stations & trains are all accessible to those in wheelchairs. The system is significantly smaller than New York with a red orange, orange silver blue green and yellow line. The Metro goes out of DC to Maryland and Virginia.

Today the train isn't crowed because it's not rush hour. I saw a security officer which made me feel safe. It used to to be safe to ride the metro in the old days. I plan to ride more often when I go down to visit a museum. I went to the Renwick to see a fiber art exhibit. What a wonderful outing. I didn't have to worry about my car. Next time I will add more money to my smart card.

This was another transfer point station. Some stations are easier access than others. Do expect to walk. You should be able to climb stairs, lots of them. There are few elevators and escalators. Management are slowly working to improve the 100 year old system. Some of the stations that are located further out now have access other than stairs.

A much nicer system than what we have seen in New York and some other cities. Easy to keep up with the schedule. Very good signage and all of our rides from the station were successful. Loved that there was such a good police/security presence and not much loitering for sure.

Access to downtown and also access to different train routes. Be sure to have a metro pass or can purchase one at the security boot .

Not being from a major city, I was apprehensive about using the subway. I visualized a complex, crowded, crime ridden, rude environment. After a few days of record setting pedometer counts. I relented and we tried the subway system. The metro center station was our main point of entry due to proximity to our hotel. It was clean and well run. I was impressed. They were clean. Felt safe. Cover a tremendous amount of the city. Fast. Cheap. They need to incorporate cost estimates (available on their website but not app that I could tell) into their app and improve the routing in the app. I personally stopped using it and used the CityMapper app instead for planning.

It is ridiculous that DC for the most part, is a gun free zone. Law abiding moms and dads should absolutely be allowed to carry as proscribed by the 2nd amendment of the US Constitution. I would like to thank Metro Transit Police. They are a wonderful group of men and women, who do all they can to keep this and other stations safe. At night this one seems to have fights, public intoxication, and unique characters. That's actually quite common on transit, in the United States and around the world. Metro Center is huge, as orange, red, and blue lines meet here. You can transfer anywhere here. During the weekday commutes, this is a busy station. I will say today it appears to have been cleaned up substantially. Also WMATA seems more efficient with its trains. That is a promising sign. There's a lot within walking distance of this station. It's a worthwhile way of getting around the nations capital. I'm glad to see it looks better than before.

Metro weekend rides are only $2

Great way to get around Washington, DC. On the weekends, each trip is a bargain at $2. Masks are required and the Metro was not crowded on our most recent visit. Grab a reloadable card and add money as needed. Thanks to the nice Metro Station worker who helped us through the process the first time. Although 60% of the metro trains are currently out of service, the online schedule was perfect to plan our trip. Easy way to travel avoiding traffic delays and pricey parking fees in DC.

A few walking distance from Air Space Muesum and Art Gallery, you get a lovely view of the US Capitol. I suggest wear sneakers. Don't wear sandals or Crocs. Your feet will hurt! This station is very clean, well maintained and operated. Station managers are always present and friendly! However the prices are insane unlike other major cities MTA. I hopped on expecting a chill, leisurely cruise like some other cities' subways, but nope this thing hauled ass right out of the gate. It accelerated like it was late for a very important date, screeching around corners, jerking side to side like a caffeinated New York train on steroids. The cars were swaying wildly, I was gripping the pole for dear life, laughing out loud thinking, "Subway gone wild! This is a thrill ride disguised as public transit!" It was hilarious and exhilarating definitely not your grandma's slow commuter train. (They've probably smoothed things out a bit with more automation these days, but that memory still cracks me up.) If you're visiting D.C. in the winter months when it's freezing out, ducking into the Metro (especially at Smithsonian) is a lifesaver warm, quick, and drops you right in the heart of everything. Parking downtown is a nightmare and wallet-killer, so snag a cheaper hotel farther out, jump on the train, and zoom in without the hassle. It's a smart, affordable way to get around, and if you're a train nerd like me, that wild ride might just become the story you tell for the rest of your life. Highly recommend 5 stars for the nostalgia alone!

Getting here can be a nightmare if you come from the wrong direction...which I did. The amount of streets you have to cross to get here can be time consuming and maybe even a bit dangerous. The station itself is like many of the other underground stations on the system. The concrete tube with the orange hexagon tile. Single platform serving both directions. Riding a bus is never joyful, but to have to take the bus for nearly an hour makes it less joyful. The station itself is fine, when you just view it as a station and nothing else. But when you actually use the entirety of the station, i.e., transfer, bus, walk from, there is no way to actually like this station. If you happen to have to transfer here, it's not bad, but if you want to catch one of the many buses here, prepare yourself to battle to get onto the bus. Or, just hope and pray that the bus will show up at a scheduled time. There was one day where I had to wait for over an hour and a half for a bus to come. No reason given, employees working the bus bays didn't care. In fact, one bus going my way was told to switch the line they were running to another one to accommodate backups. Mind you, there was a major backup for the line I needed. Compound that with the fact that when it downpours, only a portion of the bus bays are covered. So when it does rain, there is major overcrowding to keep from getting wet. Or you just suck it up, get drenched, and hope that your bus shows up shortly. Which was me one day. Flying by here on the train or having to stop at the station every so often is fine. But if I never have to actually use this physical station, I am fine by that.
