This metro station is clean and easy to use and centrally located between DuPont Circle and the White House. Tons of walking to nearby shopping and dining. Easy touch less pay options or you can buy a day or week or month pass. At $2.25 per ride. It's a great way to get around D.C. and very easy to use. read more

Farragut North Metro Station - Metro Stations Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

This is an excellent metro station in Washington just steps from the Mayflower hotel. It is the red line and the two trains are labeled based on their final destinations, either Glenmont or Shady Grove. You can preload your metro card and you can go anywhere in Washington DC for about $2-$4. To get to the orange, blue, or silver lines, take the Glenmont train to the Metro Center Station and go down one level. To get to the green and yellow lines, take the Glenmont train to the Gallery Place Station. The Farragut N. station is very clean, modern, and has a high sense of safety as there is a Metro police officer in the station. A super-great value and extremely efficient. You scan your preloaded card on the way in (turnstile) and on the way out of your destination station's turnstile. It automatically deducts the amount of the trip from your balance. We preloaded about $15 each and had more than enough of a balance to get us through three days. Remember not to preload too much money as you'll have that balance for your next trip to DC. Really easy and a convenient and safe, low-cost means of travel. read more

It's a very busy station around rush hour, as others have commented. Although I initially found the many exits confusing, once I got the hang of them, I now find them convenient to being able to exit closest to where I want to be. Just give yourself a second to think about them if you're not familiar. I appreciate there are many ticket gates so you can get in and out pretty quickly. The one thing I don't like is that I wish there were more places to sit on the platform. But other than that, it's a highly functional metro station for DC. read more

Close to just about everything. The new ticket doors are easier to use. Nice presence of metro transit and special police officers. This used to have some issues. The station is also close to transfer line ones. Signs are improved also. Today got to ride on one of the older trains. It still works, but isn't as comfortable as the new ones. WMATA is heading in a better direction now. This wasn't always the case. My hope is they do. Times were good. Also the public address system can be understood. read more

I'm still trying to figure out the Metro in DC overall, but I am quite familiar with the Red and Green Lines. Luckily for me, this station sits on the Red Line. I'm starting to like using the Metro, but I know that sounds odd as a whole, but it is becoming my friend. This is your basic station with the one line coming through, that being the Red Line. No frills, just an easy on and off experience to keep you going to your end destination. What I like about this station is that it is kind of hidden and worked into the urban fabric. It actually is part of a building that seamlessly works into the surrounding area. Honestly, I walked past here a few times without realizing it was even a station. In my own oblivious world. read more

Farragut North is a convenient Metro station in the area. It doesn't seem like it's anything special, except that it's pretty convenient. The best thing about it is the location. It's close to a good park and places to eat. The park usually has food trucks. It serves the Red Line. It's obviously to the north of Farragut Square Park. The station isn't terrible but it's not as good as many others. It's close to another station so you can make a transfer easily. This station isn't quite as good as the other one just because there's not as many Lines. It gets busy with commuters. This is the last stop before downtown, so many people are getting on. It has a couple of exits. Take the K Street exit to head toward the lobbyists and the park. Take the L Street exit to head toward downtown to find good eating and shopping. read more

One of the things that impressed me as a visitor to DC is it's amazing Metro system. Stations (and trains) are clean, orderly, well-lit, convenient with clear signage and seemingly safe. For luggage transport and the mobility-challenged, an elevator is typically steps away. The Farragut North station is just steps away from the Mayflower where we stayed at. Escalators made accessing the underground station easy. We took the Red line (transfer to the Orange line at Metro Center one stop away) to the National Mall and Memorial Parks for a day of sightseeing. On our last day we took the Metro Blue Line to the Reagan National airport. The fare was a reasonable $2.50 (Senior discount was not available for out of the visitors). read more

Underground Metro station in downtown DC. Farragut North (not to be confused with Farragut West) is between Dupont Circle and Metro Center. There are three entrances upstairs and because it's smack dab in the middle of major office buildings, it's a very busy station. Ticket vending machines on the mezzanine level and then a platform level that is an island, i.e., the trains are on both sides. Review #3300 read more

Shout out to the convenience of this station!! When heading home, if the blue/silver/orange line is ever having any issues, I can just hop on this to skip a couple stations and either continue on at Metro Center or L'enfant Plaza. It does indeed get super crowded during rush hour. My only complaint is that I personally find it confusing to figure out where the L St exit immediately next to the CVS is. Signs point to the other L St exit and to the K St exit, but unless you know to walk all the way down by familiarity, that other exit is kind of random in my opinion. I also wish the train times were shown a little closer to the escalator. You have to really get in there to see them. Maybe one day all metro stations will have train times listed in a more convenient location. read more

While the metro is clean, I didn't have a great experience at this station as a visitor to the city. We were looking to take the red line to Shady Grove, but had some confusion as to how to purchase tickets. I asked the station manager and she told us to use the machines, but did not tell us that we each needed a separate ticket. We bought one ticket and loaded it with $ only to find out that we could not use it for the three of us. The station manager didn't care at all and said there was nothing we could do except buy more tickets. Each ticket cost $2 (+whatever money you want to load on it). To top it off, when we finally boarded the train, it didn't take us all the way to Shady Grove. There was a closure and we had to be redirected to a bus. At that point, we just called an Uber which is probably what we should have done at the very beginning. read more

I love the DC Metro (yeah, I know, most people don't) as it's one of the easiest mass transit systems I've been on anywhere. On a recent trip I had to deal with Farragut Station which isn't great. Signage is confusing, the people working in the booths were of no help to the tourists asking questions and the one outside the booth near the metro pass machines were just as useless. At least the place was clean. read more

Farragut Crossing is an important location for visitors as it's one of the places where the redline meets the orange, silver and blue, somewhat like the Bad Company Song. It may not be the color of the sky I'm told, but this station puts you in the heart of the K Street Connecticut NW business district and is where you'll find Charles Tyrwhitt for proper shirts. My rainbow is overdue but the trains here usually run on time. read more

Eh, not a whole lot to comment on when it comes to this metro station. It's a red line station (boo!) and, therefore, inherently frustrating. The escalators were working as were the elevators. It's a pretty dead location after working hours. I honestly prefer to walk around Farragut Square and catch Farragut West since it is cleaner and a direct shot home for me on the Blue line without having to switch. read more

Another Metro station? Well actually this was the first one we used on our trip. Farragut North is one of the stops along the red line. Since I had prepurchased my fare cards before my trip I asked the station attendant how to check my balance and add value. She gave me instructions and told me that if I am adding value to do it fast or my transaction and money would be lost. Thankfully my husband knew what to do. I like the fact that you only need to tap the sensor to get in and get out and with my cards registered to my account can check the balance anytime. Seeing that this line is a favorite among commuters it is best to go off peak since you can save a little on your fares. It has the same style as all the Metro stops we have been to. Trains come rather quickly during the week and an electronic sign announces to you of an oncoming train along with the lights flashing. This station is near Farragut Park and has two exits to it. It's a great way to save money when traveling in DC especially if you are from out of town. read more

Overall a good metro station that is serviced by the red line. There are several entrances and exits for this station depending on where you're accessing the station from. There are staff available to assist and overall the station is pretty clean and well lit once you head towards the exit. The platform itself is well lit in certain areas. The one key advantage compared to its sister Farragaut station there is clear signage directing you to what street exit you're looking to go through. read more

Farragut North Metro Station - Metro Stations Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

Bottom Line: A metro stop in NW DC on the Red Line that is bustling with commuters on weekdays. Most of the metro stations aren't much to write home or Yelp about and that includes this one on the Red Line. On the weekdays this metro stop is full of commuters as it's very close to many businesses and eateries. There are two exits, so choose wisely so you don't find yourself walking an extra block when you get to street level. As can be expected, this station has the quintessential metro station "features" like dim lighting, red hexagon tile floors, ugly cement acoustic ceilings and the smell of an electric train. Also, there is a good chance that you'll find some homeless people at the exits. read more

This is a good access point for skipping downtown. You can walk from Farragut North to Farragut West without paying any additional fare. You have to walk above ground, but it's only a block. That way you can get between the Red and Blue/Orange lines without having to use the overcrowded downtown transfer stations. The southern exit to this stop also has some cool designs. Other than that, not much to tell. read more

Super crowded on the weekday morning and afternoon rush hour but also because it is the facto stop for the heart of downtown (K Street NW and 17th Street NW). Familiar faces at the Farragut Square exit are the Eastern European Street Sense vendor, the "It Don't Take Much" homeless man, the older woman screaming in Spanish, and the "Horngry" homeless lady. read more

I really don't like this station. It's super crowded, even with several entrances. The ceilings are low, although they did recently install new tiles so you don't have to look up at the guts of the ceiling and wonder if you're being exposed to asbestos. If one of the escalators is broken, good luck! The line will be forever long. It can be a bit confusing which way to exit if you're not familiar with where you want to go, and even I have to orient myself. If I'm traveling in to work, I exit behind the train. There are two separate gates to enter, but not two separate ways to get to the platform, so you have a rush of people both entering and exiting the station. If you happen to enter near the elevator to the platform, you have to walk around the manager kiosk to get to the platform, which adds extra, unnecessary steps to your day. You probably will be accosted by young people outside the entrance, trying to get you to send money to starving pandas being raised by wild children, but sometimes you'll get lucky and have guys performing. One guy isn't any good at all and plays several plastic instruments, including a melodica--he's super sweet and loves Fig Newtons! If you're really lucky, Dupont Brass will be outside. Pro-tip--if you enjoy the music or someone makes you stop/wish you could stop to listen, throw some change their way! read more

I wish there was an underground walkway between Farragut West and Farragut North. Would save time for a whole bunch of people!

This stop is convenient to lots of downtown activities. There is a limited shopping "mall" directly beside the metro stop. There are lots of restaurants and stores nearby. read more

For visitors, it's easy to confuse Farragut North with Farragut West, and it doesn't help that they aren't connected (different lines) and that Yelp is confused as well. The Farragut stations aren't flashy or glitzy, but the area around Farragut Square are interesting, albeit quieter, areas. Quite a few restaurants around this area as well. Yum... Morton's! Note, Farragut North is on the Red Line, and if it matters to you claustrophobes, isn't as big or open as Farragut West.... in fact, it feels cramped. read more

The air conditioning has been out of service for HOW long?! Also, the signage sucks and is confusing. How does anyone know what "Washington Square" is unless you've been working in the area for a while? There's a backup at all the escalators going up every morning and one of the ones at the K Street exit is frequently under repair. Also, good luck discovering where the K Street elevator is located if you're at street level (next to the CVS). read more

Farragut North is truly the armpit of the DC metro system. Unless you truly need to get to somewhere near Farragut Square, I would recommend skipping this stop and getting off at DuPont Circle instead - or better yet, going to Metro Center, getting on the Blue/Orange Line, and going to Farragut West or McPherson Square. Let me count the flaws/shortcomings of this station: (1) The platforms are oddly narrow (2) The lighting is bad, even by metro station standards (3) There is only one entrance onto the platform from the K street turnstiles, which creates frustrating bottlenecks. The earlier comments about poorly directed foot traffic are absolutely spot-on (4) Oddly interminable construction, which makes this an even less spacious station read more
