9/26/23 first any only transfer station between home.

Written on 10/5/23 9/26/23 Rosslyn Metro Station at night is quiet. Arriving back from Seattle we are greeted by the sounds of nobody. This station can be confusing and at times. I did get confused on which direction I was going at times. Tonight; however, wasn't that night...for confusion. Why? Because it is late at night and we want to go home. Heading downstairs to continue our destination to Falls Church, I see Ms. Brody Nygma waiting for her train as well. A week's vacation came and went by quickly. I am glad to say the Rosslyn Metro Station is very clean. The train we were in wasn't the case. It looked like gulal was on the floor mixed with something else. It could be worse. The train car could have smelled like Weed or Culo. There were no people asking for money or playing loud music on our train car. It was a good night to go home.

The station is convenient. An escalator outage would be awful. The stairs are steep. The location is near restaurants and stores near Wilson Blvd. The trains come frequently.

If you're coming from Dulles this will be the last Metro stop before DC. Rosslyn isn't that interesting to look at. This is a mostly boring station except for a few things. Climb the stairs or take the escalator. When you're at the top you get a good view. It serves the Blue, Orange, and Silver lines. It stops just before you cross the Potomac. There's a few tourist attractions this station gives you access to. It doesn't have that many, but if you have a desire to see them you can get off here. One is the Iwo Jima Memorial. Good transfer options are available. It has nearby bus stations to take you into the city. There's also access to the Arlington system.

This is a big station. It had orange, silver, and blue lines all meet here. That can be good for time savings. Metro isn't what it used to be. I'm not pleased with the delays, escalator issues, and reliability that's far from certain. Yet I see some signs, that pardon the pun, metro is getting back on track. For starters this station used to be filthy. WMATA had cleaned it. Sure you'll still see and smell evidence of rats, but that's a lot of metros in the world. The platforms are much more free of debris. Also they've upgraded monitors, to let you know when a train is expected. This is your last station prior to entering DC.

Ok. If you go to the airport, you need to change here for a bus shuttle. That should be fixed in July 2023, but I'm not sure.

Sooo....as you can see I got a lot of check-ins for this station...not enough to be duchess/baroness but enough to say I know a little bit about the area & the train station. This station is a hub station that houses the blue & orange line and soon the silver line. There really isn't enough Blue line trains but metro has tried to subsidized this by doing Rush Plus Service that has orange line trains going to Largo during peak times (still not enough trains for as many passengers that pass through this station) I hope it gets better once the silver line opens but I can see it only getting considerably worse but I hope it gets better, fingers crossed. I do enjoy the escalator workout I get each morning and evening...tightening up the quads & calfs!

This is why no one likes Metro...14 minutes! Really?!

Spent about half an hour here tonight after 11pm waiting for an Orange Line train that kept getting delayed...not a wmata police officer, security, nothing in sight for a single woman stuck in a train station because you idiots chose to work on the lines at ten pm on a Thursday during a Nationals game!

***HUGE CAVEAT*** This is a TOURIST'S opinion of the station. The realities of using Rosslyn's Metro Station as a daily commuting resource may be completely different. So, I found this station, and the Washington Metro system as a whole, to be a wonderful way to get around. Yes, I rode Rosslyn's famous escalator that seems to go 3/4 of the way to the Earth's core a few times while I was staying in town. Really wasn't a big deal to me, but my youngest son hated it, so we stopped using it and took the elevators across the street next to the Mcdonnald's down instead. Easy. Not as fast as the escalator, but if it really bothers you, there's an easy solution. The station itself is clearly laid out and easy to navigate. There's basically a track towards Washington and one towards Virginia. You pick up all three lines that run through Rosslyn (Orange, Blue & Silver) from these two platforms. You do not need to be a world traveler to figure this system out. All trains were clearly displayed on the trackside digital signage along with their ETA, and announcements were easy to hear and understand. There are quite a few card dispensing and fare reloading machines in the upper concourse area, and a large number of fare gates which made lines noexistant while I was there (which, admittedly was always intentionally NOT during peak rush times). Transferring to a MetroBus looked amazingly easy as well, all the busses pulled into labeled stops along the road along the front of the station. I can't speak to the parking situation, as it was within walking distance from my hotel. Maybe it's because I'm used to dealing with the MTA in New York City and SEPTA in Philly, but to me, Metro was a dream to use, and Rosslyn Station was no exception.

WORLD'S TALLEST ESCALATORS (not really, but they are long!) I got vertigo during my first ride up the 207' escalator - crazy! Rosslyn station is clean and Metro in general is very easy to navigate. Check out the wiki page (it's mildly interesting): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosslyn_Station 4 stars!

Budget at least 2-3 minutes in addition to your normal travel time, due to the sheer depth of this station. The escalators are the second longest in the Western Hemisphere, and practically a tourist attraction in of themselves. I've brought friends just to see them and they've been legitimately impressed. If you're short on time, the elevators are typically the fastest way to go. WMATA really should have thought to add more in, but it's probably infeasible now given the density of the area and the disruption it would cause, though maybe the COVID-19 epidemic could have constituted a window of opportunity. At rush hour the elevators are quite crowded, so during those times the optimal strategy is to walk up/down the escalators. It's a bit of a workout, but it's better than standing and watching your life go by.

Dear reader,…read more Franconia Springfield Metro may not be the flashiest station in the system, but it is absolutely one of the better ones to use. It is spacious, easy to navigate, and generally feels far less chaotic than some of the other stations in the area, which is a blessing in itself. Whether you are commuting regularly or just heading into the city for the day, the whole setup makes getting around feel simple and efficient. One of its best qualities is how practical it is. There is plenty of parking, it is easy to access, and it connects well for people coming from different directions, which makes the whole experience feel very civilized by Metro standards. The station also usually feels clean and well maintained, and overall it is just a reliable place to start or end your trip. No great drama here, just a station that does exactly what it needs to do and does it well. In my book, that earns high marks.

I really like that once you do exit the station you are right in the middle of everything outside. There is so much to do that this station almost feels like a destination by itself.
