Speaking as a tourist, to give other tourists an idea of what to expect: - the atmosphere is top tier. As soon as you step in, you're greeted by Mothman- and other cryptid-themed trinkets and shirts (great souvenirs & stocking-stuffers). They have some pretty awesome original art for sale, which i didn't purchase, but did remind myself to check out again during future visits. There's a little hallway you have to walk through to get to the counter & seating area, which is spacious, has a ton of natural light, and the best wall decor. There's even a small restroom if needed. - because i went during the Mothman festival, i did have to wait in line, but not for a long time, probably 15 minutes maximum. Because there were so many people there, the staff gave me a pager that beeped when my order was ready, which was way more helpful than having to listen for my name being called. It took less than 5 minutes for my order to be made, so even though they were very busy, they were also very efficient! The staff were personable as well. - the ice cream itself was delicious. Nice little ice cream shop in Point Pleasant, WV when I was on a family road trip. The town is known for the Mothman sightings from many decades ago, and they really embrace the paranormal to the point where some local businesses make it a theme. Aesthetically they nailed it, but outside of the gimmick this is your run of the mill ice cream place. Nothing is bad here, but nothing stands out either. I was a little put off by the lady in the front counter when I asked her what their best seller was. She looked at me with a bewildered expression and made me feel like I asked a stupid question, even going as far as to ask her fellow coworkers and none of them could give me a straight answer. I wasn't really pressing them for it, but the whole exchange was kind of awkward. Aside from that my wife and kids enjoyed their ice cream, and the sherbet I got was delicious as well. read more

Cute little place, especially for Mothman fans! Really nice vibe on the inside with plenty of room to sit and some games set out for their guests. There's a lot of speciality desserts associated with the Mothman and the other legends surrounding Point Pleasant. I didn't opt for any of those and only got two small cones (one for a friend) and only spent around $5 which was nice. My only complaint is we had originally intended to visit yesterday, and when we looked up the hours, it said 4-7pm. However, when we walked over at 5pm, there was a sign on the door that said "hours 1-5pm," so that was a little disappointing. I hope those hours get updated! read more

Noel and I were in Point Pleasant, HOT on the Trail of the Mothman on this sunny, warm afternoon, when we happened on "What's the Scoop" Ice Cream Parlor at 512 Main Street. We had to go in and check it out!!! Noel got "The Mermaid" small version for $5 and even though I wanted one of their creative Ice Cream masterpieces, I opted for a scoop of Strawberry Cheesecake for $1.50...I am slightly lactose intolerant....I hate that for ME!!!! The place is spacious and colorful in Bright neon pink and a aqua blue....very festive and ice creamy!!!! A must stop when you are in the area!!! I highly recommend for everyone to try it out!!!! This is the best ice cream shop ever! Forget Cold Stone Creamery. THIS is the place to go if you want ice cream that is top tier. Let me start off with saying how creative the interior design is... "What's The Scoop" is a cryptid themed ice cream parlor with a multitude of decorations and artwork relating to aliens, Mothman, Bigfoot, etc. everything was intricately designed, and I'm surprised it doesn't have as much popularity as some other ice cream joints. In addition, each and every desert sold is reasonably priced, so while it will fill your soul with happiness, it won't drain your wallet. The servers are really friendly too and will get your order out within minutes. However, the best part is the ice cream itself. All of their creations are unique in their own individual way and taste wonderful! I got the Mothman milkshake and it was perfect. Don't let the google rating (5) fool you. We love to support family business but this one was not a good experience for us. The lady sitting at the counter was on her cell phone and did not look up or talk to us until we said we wanted to order. There were 3 other people behind the counter and none of them spoke to us either. The facility was not very clean, the pictures must be from when they first opened because it is not very clean. The ice cream is ok definitely not what we were expecting. The lady's son was sitting at a table and slammed the door after I walked out. I don't recommend it. read more

This place is using Mothman as a tourist trap. It's literally an empty building with a few posters of Mothman memorabilia, an ice cream cart and a register. The shakes and ice cream were horrible and I'm sure the only reason people go there is because they are trained to decorate the ice cream to look like Mothman. I get it, it's right beside the Mothman museum, but they really need to put more effort into their business for people that don't accept service/food that is mediocre and charge a lot of money for their product just because it's near a touristy place. We received our shakes and ice cream, tried it, trashed it and went Village Pizza Inn pizza (which was awesome) instead. I'll be leaving a review for that place soon. read more
